I saw a tip about getting the clay out of the molds without distorting or damaging them.. put them in the freezer for a bit and the clay just pops right out...
Thanks for that!!!
Thanks!!❤
А когда покрыть лаком игрушки? Если надо на один цвет нанести другой . Благодарю!🥰
Yes! Works perfectly
SUPER ❤️ Thank You for good information ❤️
Use a chippy brush for ornate pieces. The brush gets down in there where others won't. Before adding black or white wax, add a layer of clear first . Makes the white and black wax move easier and will wipe back and give you more control.
Bohemian Blue is a fabulous color. Probably the prettiest color I've ever seen!
Love all the mouids, paint choices, waxes you used to create these beautiful ornaments. Thanks for sharing your inspirations❤
Beautiful ornaments!
Soooo lovely 🥰
❤❤❤
I use a soft bristle toothbrush to paint my molded clay.
Thanks for the tip!
this is half dry when it is glued on. does that mean extra drying time?
My ornaments take a couple of hours for the clay and matte medium to dry.
PS: if you water the paint down a bit, so it becomes more liquid it is easier to get the first color coat of paint in all the noocks of the details and then drybrushing over it with regular thick paint works well for me!
They turned out beautiful! One trick I’ve learned is to apply clear wax first…..then apply the black or dark wax. You have so much more control over moving and removing the dark wax where you want.
I’m definitely trying that next time. Thank you!
These ornaments are all stunning thank you. I appreciate you talking us through the process. I really don’t understand people sometimes is it because they’re so self-absorbed. Whatever happened to if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all, right? Keep doing what your doing. You’re an amazing crafter 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🥰
I truly appreciate you. It is tough sometimes to understand people… but I can’t get stuck on it. There’s too many wonderful crafters to relate to then a couple ugly ones. Thanks so much for your support. ❤️
These ornaments turned out so pretty! Last year I tried my hand at making these with various moulds I had and I even used gold leafing! They turned out so lovely. Thank you for sharing your work….love how they turned out!😊
Thank you so much. I’m glad you stopped by. ❤️
Lovely tutorial, and such gorgeous ornaments!!! Us crafters love the chat and knowing that others get frustrated too it’s such a learning curve and the opportunity for sharing advice is a wonderful way to learn tips and techniques. Thank you for the inspiration to try making these. New subscriber😍😍😍
I make mistakes all of the time. Lol. Thanks for the lovely comment. Chatting about crafts is my therapy. ❤️
Thank u for giving credit for ur idea I see in wire wrapping an Asian lady created so many ideas never seen anyone ever give her credit. So much respect ❤
I would never do it differently. I am where I am from other crafters inspiration. I wish others would do the same, but it is what it is. Thanks so much for the comment.
You definitely want to pretty much always use clear wax or a water based top coat before using any colored waxes especially on chalk paint or clay paint. Chalk & Clay based paints are super porous and even if you only leave the colored wax on for split seconds, the paint is still going to soak up a lot of the pigment in the wax. You were rubbing quite a bit to take off the excess wax & you should never have to work that hard to remove or manipulate your colored waxes. Sealing the paint first with either the clear wax or a water based top coat give you so much more freedom while using your colored waxes.
Totally agree ! Very good comment ❤❤
"What do Christmas ornaments and Jeffrey Epstein have in common?" They don't hang themselves.
These are just gorgeous!! I love all your tips, trials and success to show us along the way. Great jobs and feel like these could really be heirloom gifts!
They are really well received. ❤️
Where did you get the ornaments with solid tops? All the tops or caps to I can find look like cheap tin! I usually paint them or put baking soda to cover up the cheap cap but I need one that is metal looking.
I spray painted them with Hammered Dark Bronze spray paint. They are the ugly shiny silver caps. I forgot to mention that in the video.
While i like the results, i am not a fan of dark, non reflective, ornaments
In regards to using clear wax before using dark wax; not only can you wipe away the dark wax more easily but you can add a little clear wax to your wiping cloth and use as an eraser to remove “heavy handed” dark wax application! This only works with clear wax UNDER the dark wax. Loved these ornaments and thanks for sharing!
I can’t wait to use the wax correctly. Lol… I’m trying to get through my upcoming assignments so I can get back to getting dirty! Thanks for the tips!❤️
Hi I just happened upon your channel and now I’m a subscriber! These ornaments are amazing! I do have some moulds so I think I’m going give it a try. Thank you for sharing your talents with the rest of us!
I’m so glad you’re here! Thanks so much for your support
So glad I "stumbled across" your channel and being introduced to Irene's channel. The first one you did with the rub and buff, make it look like a metal ornament. Love it!
Awww… so glad you’re here! And Irene is amazing. She definitely deserves a larger audience.
You say this isn’t your medium but you did a marvelous job. They are gorgeous!
Thank you❤️
These are gorgeous, wow, they really look high-end. Thanks for sharing.
I watch a diy’er that works a lot with the IOD molds and she paints them with a chippy brush! She says she likes them because it gets every nook and cranny! Try it….you never know!
A chippy brush… I’m going to look that up! I was paint frames earlier today. Sounds like I needed a chippy brush!😂 thanks for the tip! I’m definitely going to look into that
Perhaps it would have helped you when painting the intricate snowflakes to have started out by simply watering down your paint color, allowing the color to seep into the snowflake designs. Then go over with the paint? 🤔
Thanks for the tip! I’ll try it out. I’m actually open to a lot of suggestions on painting them. I have more to make, and am really hoping to find and easier way to paint. I still love making them… it’s just the painting step that is a little 🫤.
Beautiful. I have watched a couple of your other ornament videos, they are all so informative. Thanks for taking the time to do these!❤
Thank you so much. I truly appreciate your support❤️
Thanks! Now I have two new RUclips addictions. I’m looking forward to watching all your videos!
❤ Beautiful projects!! I love IOD moulds. I have some prima molds, but definitely prefer IOD! IOD makes a great clay, but you may want to try DAS clay! DAS clay is AMAZING for details and it is priced great!!
I enjoyed your tutorial! Thank you for sharing and for all the inspiration!!
Мне тоже нравится глина DAS. Если форму с глиной положить в морозильную камеру минут на 40,то получаются заготовки любой толщины без брака. В этом случае даже можно использовать коврики для айсинга.
I agree, DAS is the only one I'll use now and it works so well with the super detailed moulds.
Thanks for the tips! I’ve had a package of IOD clay for over a year. I have yet to cut into it. I should try it out.
I love the rustic charm you achieved with these ornaments! Well done!!
Thank you!❤️
What beautiful ornaments! I wanted to decorate a wall in my living room this year with ornaments. I wanted something stylish...this is perfect! You did an amazing job! Thank you so much.
Just beautiful. Thanks so much for sharing. Eexcellent work.
Love love these and are making them all. Thank you for your inspiration!
I’m so glad you stopped by!❤️
Great job on this project ❤
These look so stunning, thank you for sharing. I'm here in Australia so I'm going to have to put these on my list of things to make for next year, it'll take a minute to find all of the supplies ❤️🙏
OMG!!! Those ornaments turned out absolutely gorgeous!!! Thanks for sharing. I am definitely going to have to try this...
So glad you stopped by!
I don't see a link to Iren's RUclips channel....can you please provide? Thank you so much....Merry Christmas
Your video just popped up on my page and I'm so glad I decided to watch it. I love the ornaments you made! I'm definitely keeping this video and making ornaments following your instructions. I just subscribed also. Thank you!
They are ornament balls not bobbles. Nice job. I’ve used gold leaf on the clay. It does take time. The blue is outstanding.
Americans call them baubles not balls. She’s not saying bobbles.
@@kikibalden7462NO! "Americans" don't call them baubles. Maybe pretentious or ignorant people do, but not regular Americans. They're just ornaments or ball ornaments.
Hi, I'm new to your channel. I love homemade ornaments.
I just watched one by cynthialoowho from 2022. She didn't make any in 2023, so I'm looking for another crafter who would make some of that caliber.
Can you suggest another wax? Deb’s wants $25 shipping and I can’t get kg local 😊thank you. It’s not on Etsy either.
Thank you so much Angelica, I really really enjoyed watching you create these awesome and wonderful baubles. I absolutely love ❤️ and adore them all. Please stay safe and well too xxxx Mags ❤❤❤❤
Thanks for sharing Angelica. Tip... Try Tim Holts distress oxide sprays... It will cut your painting time and effort, and the clay absorbs them well 👍😉 kind regards, Mary from Australia 😁
Ohhhh… thanks for the tip! I have the whole Oxide spray rainbow, so I will definitely try that.
Really?! I have them all so will try!
I'm thinking I would paint the clay after taking it out of mold.Spray paint the bauble first and then apply the clay print on.
ohhh these are absolutely stunning :) so so beautiful xx
Thank you so much!!
I’m so inspired! I’m a paper crafter, too, and share card making tutorials on RUclips, too. But I’ve been eyeing these ornament tutorials and can’t wait to try them myself! Thanks for the inspiration. Your ornaments are just gorgeous! 🥰
Hello fellow paper crafter! Yes- I’m finding myself falling into the DIY crafting world, though my investment into my paper crafts makes it hard to leave that world. I really can’t afford a new craft genre, yet here I am. 😂
@@angelicaconrad I’m right there with you!!! 🥰🥰🥰
@angelicaconrad haha! I too have a huge investment in paper crafting but then found IOD, making clay, transfers and paint my new thing! Starting to "collage" them together now!
@@cassfonnesbeck8057 Love it! I justify it because it’s working with paper still, right!? 🤣 I’m going to design a canvas (wooden) using this paper clay so I can hang it on my wall. 😍
@@KathyaKalinine I'll hope to see a video as you create it!
These ornaments are stunning! ❤️😊👍
Thanks so much! 😊
These are all beautiful. ❤ thank you for sharing
I love the look of these baubles. I find using a stiffer bristled stipling brush gets into the nooks and crannies quicker and easier.
Can you work a small amount of paint into the white clay?then press it into the molds?
Cooking spray...who knew?! lol I love all my molds but there are some that just won't cooperate. I love all the fancy scroll wk, but it's so frustrating when things don't work out. I've even been using my hot glue gun with a sm tip more often. That helps a lot, but I'll definitely give the oil a try! I made a bunch of ornaments similar to yours last yr. They're fun to make & look so beautiful
They are fun! And yes- cooking spray was my last resort. If it didn’t work, then I was going to move on with another craft. 😂 so glad it tried it.
How beautiful! Great tutorial. You included so many excellent tips. And your daughters little gnome is adorable! Your video showed up in my feed and I'm so happy to have found you.
I’m so glad you’re here. And yes- Vera was so proud of her gnome. It’s at nana’s house now.
deine Idee ist genial - danke dafür. Herzliche Grüße Theresa aus Germany
You are the first person i've found who uses oil in the molds like i do!! I find it SO much easier and a little less messy---although mess generally doesnt bother me!! These came out gorgeous!
Amei o seu trabalho lindo parabéns 🥳💖
You are one awesome crafter. These baubles are beautiful. I think I am going to try these, however I will use white wax instead of black wax. Thats just my preference, to me the black wax just doesn't look christmassy or festive. But that is strictly my preference only. I just like color period, and always have. Color makes me happy. This was not to offend you or anyone. Keep doing what you do, and I will keep watching you. Thanks for explaining it to us.
Thank you so much. And I love white, too.
I have heard corn starch works too as nonstick medium.
Funny, they kinda look like theyre made from cement
Iuc benutze uberhaupt kein Öl oder mehl. Die gehen bei meinen formen ganz normal heraus weil die formeb richtig gut sind
OMG THOSE ARE GORGEOUS… CHIC AND DID I SAY GORGEOUS… 👍🏻👍🏻😢STUNNING
Thank you!❤️
You mentioned that your “go to primer is Pentart” I can’t seem to find that. Maybe I misunderstood the name. Could you tell me what you use?
You can only find it on Etsy. It’s a Hungarian company, and there’s no American distributors yet. Hopefully soon because their line of products is amazing. I am obsessed. Here’s a link to an unaffiliated Etsy store if you want to read more about it: www.etsy.com/listing/1497597509/
Adding a little liquid acrylic medium will thin the paint a bit without adding moisture. It will help get the paint into to the crevices better.
Thank you for this advice. I will definitely try it out.
They turned out so beautiful!! Great job!
Thank you so much!
Any tips on where to get that Prima mould? Tried numerous online sites and unfortunately a lot of merchants do no update their sites; consequently, I purchased all the supplies and was then told the mould was unavailable.
I just searched too. I’m sorry about that. Maybe reach out to the company and ask if they will be making more? Here’s another mould that might work. amzn.to/3UjL2Ym
I can't see any molds like these in UK?
Wow! I love the addition of gold and that Bohemian blue is so stunning!
This is my first jar of DIY paint that I’m going to be rebuying. I usually buy a new color, but Bohemian blue is a stunner! Thank you❤️
Wow they turned out gorgeous👍🏻🌲
Will using cooking spray as a release agent on silicone molds affect or hurt the molds at all? I think I’ll try using the spray as well. Do you wash your molds after using the spray? I’m just wondering how the oil spray reacts with silicone. I’m certainly not a chem major & therefore I ask. ☺️☺️
Oh my goodness!🙈 I never even thought of cleaning them. And I’ve used cooking spray in the Prima mould for three years now. There seems to be no damage. Hope that helps!
I was wondering the same!
I have been trying everything to keep the clay from sticking and breaking apart when i try to de mold them...sigh
Oh man- I wish I could help. I’m not familiar with clay and moulds outside of this video. I haven’t verified past the products I used. Good luck!
These are beautiful ….I’m in the uk and I can only find very small moulds …they would never fit on the top of a bauble ..
I’m sorry to hear that. I hope you can find something.
Como le hago Para conseguir ese molde ???
Beautiful and classy 😊
Did you find the cooking spray kept paint from sticking to the clay when dried?
Not at all. This is my third year making them, and I’ve never had paint chip.
I freeze my moulds for an hour or so, then the 2 separate easily and then by placing the frozen mold on the surface of choice, it just espouse that form as it defrosts…… perfect ….
Thanks for the tip!
Beautiful job - gorgeous ornaments especially for vintage and shabby chic style!!!
Thank you so much❤️
Try using a makeup sponge. I watch "inspirations from the soul" . AMAZING.
Would you please send me the link for Eileen’s channel. I can’t find it in the description

Bravo! They turned out fabulous. I have to say, it was like listening to myself doing these 😂 the oh this is great to the oh this isn't, repaint...haha really comes down to exploring the materials, tools and techniques for sure. Love to see a video with the same products I use. Love my IOD molds and I use the same air dry clay. Love that stuff. Wasnt expecting the weird fluffy texture the first time I used it, but once I did. Totally hooked. Surprisingly maintains shape and detail while working with it considering how light it is. Thank you for sharing your process too btw. Toothbrush heads are so handy for so many things and definitely try that. For getting into the cracks and tight spots, I find using a fan brush works great. Im leaning to the spray action route myself and have yet to give it a go. Be grateful for any recommendations on what NOT to use for paint. Haha Thank you again for sharing. Look forward to seeing your work. Subscribed! Merry Christmas to you. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
Does this clay crack easily?
So beautiful--careful and intelligent directions and helpful tips, too. (Agree about Irene's DIY Addiction--she's amazing.)
Do you think a stippling brush would work for the intricate parts
I’m not sure. I didn’t want to damage the dry clay, so I just dealt with it. Like I have for the past 3 Christmas seasons. Lol… I few commenters said to water the paint down some. I will try that next time.
Such gorgeous ornaments ❤
Thank you! 😊
Beautiful! Exactly the tips I was looking for!thank you for the video and the material explanation. I was wondering about using the wax. I have heard that the Hearty clay isn’t durable or will dent easily. Do you find it to dent easily or have any suggestions on making it harder/more durable after it is dry?
Thank you. ❤️ I’ve only used this clay, so I can’t compare it to others. I’ve made these ornaments for 4 Christmas seasons now, and none have cracked once dry. I don’t have a problem with dents, though again, I’m not a clay expert, and probably don’t know what I’m supposed to look for.
@@angelicaconrad It sounds like this clay has given you exactly what you want. I think you would have noticed any unwanted denting or breakage, as we are our own worst critics. Thank you so much for the information. Knowing that you have worked with this material for these beautiful items that long helps a lot!
Hi newbie here havent started doing any yet trying to learn first.why do u have to use wax.
Hello there! You don’t have to use wax. My style has a very distress/grungy look, so waxes make my projects looked aged.
They turned out beautifully 🌹 I would've appreciated a little more details about the paints and adhesives... Beatiful pieces🌹
the timing of this video!!! i never watched any of your videos before, but now had this video in my suggested videos and: i just ordered all the items 3 days ago, also inspired by Irene´s video.
I looked around for affordable snowflake molds, like the one´s you are using, but i didn´t find molds as beautiful as the ones you used. (I am in Europe), so I orderend very cheap silicon mold on temu and thought i´d frankenstein the patterns together on the baubles. the snowflake mold you used, i looked it up, it´s 30euros, plus 40 euros shipping.. haha. not gonna happen! :D
your ornaments look great! I´m greatful for your video, especially the release technique with cooking oil i´ll keep in mind!
Very pretty ornaments! Instead of wax you might want to use glaze since it provides lighter coverage.
I find that dusting the mold with cornstarch works better than oil. Just a tip for everyone.
This was inspirational! This is my new ornament project. Thank you! I really enjoyed your video.❤❤❤
Absolutely Beautiful work. Love them. I have been meaning to make this project for my brothers Christmas Tree. Must get a move on!!
These are gorgeous. I can’t find any of the moulds except for the redesign snowflake mould. Couldn’t find the IOD blitz. Do you have a link?
I unfortunately do not have a link for USA. This mould was in last year’s release, and I don’t think they will be released again. Here’s a link to a Canadian store:
kathiejordandesign.com/products/iod-mould-blitz?variant=43132758098178
@@angelicaconrad thank you
Beautiful ornaments! Place a damp baby wipe or paper towel in the ziplock bag with your clay (not touching the actual clay, but on the outside of the package,) and it'll keep it nice and moist forever. Just make sure you change out the damp cloth each time you use the clay or it'll start to mildew...
I have that IOD Blitz mould and will definitely be making ornaments like yours with it! I love it!
I love all of these ornaments. Each one turned out beautifully. But, I'm surprised at myself, because I'm not your typical blue lover. The blue ornament with the gold rub and buff is my favorite. Its absolutely gorgeous!
They came out beautiful. I've never done anything like that before. I will be ordering the molds and clay and making them throughout the year (when I have time). I'm excited to try this and can't wait to see how they come out.
saturn planet is real ?????
I love these IOD moulds for your ornaments, Blitz and Trimmings 1, so I am good to go to make my ornaments like yours! Thank you for your great tutorial!
I just went through all the comments. Wow, got some great tips! A very useful video!
Как утомляет эта болтавня!
Wow I need to check our that air clay I use Das clay it is kinda heavy up get so impatient when doing a craft especially while working with clay I want to see the end results right away, paint everywhere crumbs of clay yeah it's I'm messy I live how they turned out gotta give it a try thanks for sharing all the tips
