A wonderful and lovely interview. They talked about so much in such a short time. From sexism, harrassment, her mom, the show and Stephen being adorable. Amazing!
And that was such a good point about sexism and harassment being linked to how high women can rise in an organization. Until any woman can have an equal chance at being CEO or at least upper management, all women are going to be vulnerable to those who assume they can be pushed aside.

@N C not everyone gobbles up the media, much less network media. Im 32 and havent heard of her before this interview. Id guess i know plenty of awesome people youve never heard of. Thats why teaching and sharing ideas is so important. No need to scold people who haven't heard the ideas youve heard
So refreshing, someone that takes what they were dealt in life and made the most out of it without the self victimizing. What a wonderful woman and a true model American. As a non-television news watcher, I'm sad I didn't know about her sooner. I will absolutely be watching her new series!

I absolutely LOVE Colbert's awkward greetings (shake? hug? bro hug? kiss? one kiss? two kisses?). There should be a montage of all the most awkward greetings since day 1. Like this comment so it gets the attention of the folks at LSSC.
nematon that is exactly why we saw some of his first female guests had kissed him full tongue or with deep puckered kiss. They were only trying to tell him to act more, and be less concerned with being sincere. We love your characters stephen (btw.)

Watch for him to give some of the ladies a hand up the stairs if they are in restricting clothes and heels. You'll see him intently watch their shoes and let go as soon as they are up. He's just being polite and helping. It's very platonic not taking advantage of a physical opportunity like some interactions seem to be on tv now like waist grabbing during pictures *gag*

Totally understand her wall. I learnt to control my thoughts in Sunday school as a Catholic. It has been one of my most important skills. I was taught to only offer constructive criticism or none at all. SO, whenever, something unpleasant happens to unpleasant ppl, I have an automatic wall that stops me from soling my soul with vindictive and malicious thoughts. This is not highly respected in this reality tv world where maliciousness and vindictiveness that r products of passive aggression now has the face of President Trump.

I know leaving NBC was heartbreaking for you as it was all of your viewers of the Today show but you have come back stronger and presenting long form masterpieces you could never done anywhere except PBS. I see you and your talent and courage it takes to tell these are amazing. I just watched the one on the two marines= during the Korean war. I am 71 but did not serve in Vietnam and my draft number was above 260. My heart goes out too all of those who made the ultimate sacrifice. You present it with such a peacefulness and respectfulness so the amazing talent you have shine right through. After TODAY, I knew Ann Curry would pop up again with a story of telling us about the gift you have. Sincerely

I'm going to go assume that the inspiration for Tricia Takanawa was Ann Curry. The story about her mother was hilarious.
Probably it was Tritia Toyota. She did the news in LA on radio and TV from '70 to '99.
Also, the music is from the song "We'll Meet Again", popular hit by Vera Lynn in WW2 and devastatingly sad music from the final scene of "Jurassic Bark".
