    I went from using the 'go' and a bypass recipe for the last few years, to the XL, and I love the XL.

      So now that i've had longer to play with the XL, i can say that at last when comparing with my Go recipe, the Xl does taste more muted, less bright. To my taste it does taste bolder, which is good, but there's definitely less clarity than the GO. Now i'm hoping this can be fixed with a recipe change, any thoughts on this?@@coffeechronicler

    I live in Denmark and have just opened up my XL which I got from a friend, who went to the US. I would love to know where you get new filters for it, as I saw there weren't many filters in the package with the XL?

    • @coffeechronicler
      @coffeechronicler  Год назад +1

      Since it's such a new product, it will probably take a bit of time before they catch up and supply all stockists with the XL filters. But ultimately they should be available in most countries, including Denmark, where there's already a lot of shops selling AP gear.

    Hi, and thanks! I enjoy your videos very much.
    I wonder why don't you let the coffee steep at the first part of the process?

    • @coffeechronicler
      @coffeechronicler  Год назад +4

      Thanks! I find that steep and release brewers taste a lot more vibrant if you let some of the first coffee out in the beginning, so it doesn't participate in the immersion phase. It's the same approach I use for my Switch technique.

    Is there going to be any "prismo" thing for this? from fellow or from aeropress themselves?

    • @coreycannon4511
      @coreycannon4511 Год назад +2

      Ditto. I did reach out to Fellow a few months ago, when the XL was announced, and was told that they had no plans to make an XL Prismo at that time. Pity. All my recipes for Aeropress are based on using the Prismo. I like the no drip thing without having to invert. I would like an XL with Prismo for when I’m brewing for multiple people in the household on weekends. During the week I’m mostly just brewing for myself an the regular Aeropress is just fine. I guess we’ll just have to see.

    • @paulmillerick4092

      Not yet. I can't even find a metal screen for it. I'm sure soon there will be more accessories if the XL becomes popular

    • @paulmillerick4092
      @paulmillerick4092 Год назад

      I'm with you! I feel exactly same. Only use with Prismo. My idea is to get a new clear aeropress & then brew with 2 devices rather than wait for any accessories for the XL. Look how long it took for a flow cap to come out - literally years after the Prismo. Also I'm not thrilled about the XL carafe (no handle as Asser points out) & whether this monster fits any any other mugs, thermal cups I own.... @@coreycannon4511

    I've been noticing that it's easier to get a bolder cup with the XL using my recipe, when coming from the GO, I think that the extra chamber size makes it easier to get a good mix, there was a lot of 'caking' happening in the GO with 21G coffee and thats not really the case now, and I'm getting a bolder cup which is my preference.

    Sadly the new ownership and just the little changes I see makes me never want to buy Aeropress products. They seem to be focussed on profits more than the legacy of the brand. Not unexpected but sad and personally makes me totally disinterested.

    • @coffeechronicler
      @coffeechronicler  Год назад +21

      I can understand the reaction, but most companies in the coffee space are for-profit. Hario, Kalita, Bialetti, Bodum, etc. are also releasing new products every year. I would be more worried if the new products were bad, but it seems that the first 3 releases have been pretty well received.

    • @greysuit17
      @greysuit17 Год назад +9

      Im not against them making profit, it is annoying that they skimped on features that the original models had just to save a few bucks. Less filters, no filters stand, no funnel and jacked up the price across the board. It used to be a product I could recommend to people for an easy, cheap quality option to get into better coffee at home. Now it’s not so much.

    • @coffeechronicler
      @coffeechronicler  Год назад +18

      @@greysuit17 I never used any of the accessories and think many people felt the same. So think it makes some sense. A bit like smartphone manufacturers moving away from including earphones and chargers.

    • @greysuit17
      @greysuit17 Год назад +7

      Uh they still include the scoop….the scoop is less beneficial than the funnel. Your argument is everyone else is doing it so it’s fine essentially. Nah, getting less for more money is a negative. It shows they care more about money than quality of the product and experience. Partly why I respected Alan Adler.

    • @coreycannon4511
      @coreycannon4511 Год назад +4

      I guess it depends on the user. The only accessories I use are the filter holder and the stir paddle. I’ve thought about getting a second unit to do side by side testing, making two batches at a time, etc, so I certainly would not need a second filter holder. If I ever get the XL, I’d definitely want a filter holder and paddle for it.

    Just tried it. Absolutely HORRIBLE coffee. Tried it in many ways and lower temps including some noce roasting companies that make great cups. This size shouldn't be made and doesn't fix its overly bitterness or just bad tasting coffee. Good review but definitely not my cup of coffee.
