I have been an "enthusiast" since I was a kid in the early 70's, now I'm pushing 60 and still have the same excitement and wonder regarding these creatures. This was a film that actually did the subject justice. Thank you for that!
In 1964 I hitchiked up to Killarney, Ontario and got to the then new road to Killarney about dusk and decided to walk on instead of trying to sleep. It was a moonless night, so dark I had to look up to the tree line on each side of the road to keep my bearings. A little ways in something could be heard occationaly snapping a twig to my left and not far off the road. I had a 2 inch pocket in one hand and a short club I picked up in the other, and I was scared. In 64 I was 18. I don't remember how long or how far I was followed. At the time I had no thought of Bigfoot - my fear was a bear, even though that made no sense as there are only black bear in that country. Later an experienced hunter said he thought it was a Bigfoot.
Very rarely do you come across a short piece of hard work, where the images are crisp and the sound done right. Hominid is one. Your dialogue is entertaining and your camera angles add to the visual you wanted to project. Thank you JS for an enjoyable 15 minutes!
Hey Guys Just wanted to say thank you and I appreciate you guys hard work. This film was spectacular and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I sincerely hope that you and your teammates involved in this production of this film get noticed by someone who recognizes talent. Congratulations on a epic short movie. We all love a good Sasquatch movie!
👏🏿👏🏿🤓Great short!!! It’s a possible great beginning segment of a major motion picture 2 hr level movie in my opinion. Very well acted and it was shot beautifully. Keeping this part with the “silhouette in the eye 👁 scene” leaves you with something to build on “next” like in the newest remake of Friday 13th. Opening and main body of the movie! Great job!
Wow. This is an absolutely fantastic short film!! When you think "Best Bigfoot films around", you think of "Abominable", "Exists", "Big Legend", "Primal Rage", and "Willow Creek" (and of course "The Legend of Boggy Creek" but that's more of a docudrama). This beats all of those in terms of cinematography, score, plot, respecting the history of the phenomenon, and sheer gripping power. The first sighting scene on the thermal camera nearly made me jump out of my skin and the ending is so damn powerful. The doomed anthropologist Adam finally gets his confirmation in that amazing silhouette-in-the-eye end scene...Masterful work, Justin! This would really make the perfect opening sequence for an awesome 2 hour feature! Or the storyline could be expanded because that ending is so damn good! Either way, amazing work, sir!!
Thank you so much for the kind words! This might be some of the most thoughtful feedback I've ever received. Hominid was definitely a litmus test to determine if we could tackle a subject matter rife with schlock in a way that felt sincere. Thanks so much for watching.
I listened to a youtube video as told by a ranger that was similar to this story. Long story short he got caught up on a log stack that gave way while he was standing on it. He claims a bigfoot removed the logs from on top of him and that saved his life. Incredible story.
@@scottw.3258 So the 1000+ year old legends of tall primates walking on two legs that exist on every continent on this planet is just a coincidence? It’s just another unconfirmed species which is currently a legend, like giant squids used to be. The most famous ape scientist in the world (Jane Goodall) believes they may exist after hearing of a local encounter in South America. Just a suggestion friend, don’t be one of those people that refuse to look into things that haven’t been confirmed. Too many people these days believe everything they’re told and have heard. As for me, I used to not believe as well. I’ve seen the footprints out west (North America, Utah). I’ve looked into the legends and history. The Loch Ness monster, Tik Tik, Vampires, etc obviously don’t exist. As for Sasquatchs, there really is a bit more to it than a bunch of people around a campfire telling stories.
@@bercalziner722 Trust me, i used to believe in Sasquatch, but the more i've read, and the more i've watched documentaries, the more i've come to realise that it's legend. No more than that. With the technology available to Mankind today, if there was some bipedal creature living on every continent on Earth, it would've been found by now. We discover new species of insect, arachnid, mammals, birds, every year. None of these are bigger than a domesticated dog. If there was a species which was over 7' tall roaming the planet, we'd know about it. As for the giant squid. Mate, it's believed we haven't even touched around 95% of our Oceans, of course there'll be species of aquatic animals we haven't discovered. There will no doubt be thousands, quite possibly hundreds of thousands of species we haven't yet discovered. We've explored around 85% of terrain on Earth, and still haven't found this huge, bipedal creature. It very simply, doesn't exist. It is merely a legend, no doubt as old as Man himself, but a legend none the less.
This is spectacular. Better than any bigfoot movie I've ever seen. Just wow. Please make more, you're bound to get somewhere in the film industry if you can make something like this.
Awesome work! I'd tack an antenna onto the game cam, however, to indicate it can transmit video. Maybe some don't have an external antenna, but all of mine do that provide sat pickup. Otherwise you gotta visit them and download the chip footage. The little bit of distortion on the flir image of the 'foot jumped out at me immediately as fx that were not necessary and took my out of my suspended sense of disbelief. Eh. Nothing serious though. Great work. I loved it, especially the ambiguous ending - will it help him, or eat him? I look forward to your next one! Keep filming! Want more 'foot!
I enjoyed it, but there was one bit of heavy handed foreshadowing that killed some of the drama for me. When they're getting off the helicopter that "who know's we're here? Just me." I was thinking, gee they're dead meat. The actors voice is remarkably like a young Richard Thomas (John Boy Walton). I like how it was sort of open at the end, were they blood thirsty animals, or just primitive hunter/gatherers. They left the girl along when they didn't see her as a threat. The guy in the trap though, are they going to eat him? if he dies will they bury him? You could even think, well maybe they have a knowledge of healing herbs and woodlore that could heal him?
I remember sounds like something playing with rocks knocking and the sound like someone stacking rocks movement . I know what 4 leged animals sound like . I live on a reservation aka the rez were its lots of woods tress and bushes . and a huge river .
This was awesome! What camera did you use? I have always wanted to make films but I have not found a good camera yet. I am thinking about a DSLR. Do you have any recommendations for a beginner filmmaker? Thanks for any tips. I don't have a very big budget at the moment.
We shot on the original Black Magic 4K Cinema Camera. But as far as beginner cameras go, you can't go wrong with a DSLR. I cut my teeth on a Canon Rebel T4i, and it was a great camera to learn the basics on. Best of luck on your filmmaking journey!
After months of searching for bigfoot, you can hear him close to you knocking on trees and breaking branches. Yeah, always get out your camera and then put it down and hurriedly walk away from it through the woods in your excitement to finally prove your dad was right. That makes a lot of sense only because this is a scripted movie short.
Well.....these two were certainly inept. He falls asleep while watching the cameras and would have missed everything. It was not even being recorded. During the tree knocking she had to scrabble in her rucksack for a camera and so was obviously unprepared for a sudden sighting. To cap it all, as they ran up the slope to see what they would see, she did not even have the camera with her!!
This was amazing! I loved the Bob Gimlin interview piece included. Great job, everything I love in a Bigfoot film 😊
Excellent film! Great job! Just WAY too short!!!
I love a good bigfoot movie.

Maniac.
I had a friend do the same thing, and he was attacked by a dog that he couldn't see.
Lucky for him, he had a hunting knife on him.
I love a bigfoot story! Well done.
Two words! Feature Length!!!!

Great Job! They are real. We've had them in our back yard in the 80's.
Film makers?
Very well done, glad I found it
Justin Suttles is a very talented filmmaker indeed! Just my two cents 🏆
Well done. Better than most big foot films I've watched. Please do more, you have much talent 🙂
Admirably done. Thanks!
What a great short film! Exceptional filming. Thanks for the video.

What got you interested in Bigfoot?
@@misterslats I've always been interested in the unknown.
You'll never see one, i'm afraid. They don't exist.

1:54 someone forgot to actually study the anatomy of primates, didn't they. I'm out.
Bigfoot is a primate?
Primates are real. Bigfoot isn't.
