The San Francisco Twins - Marian and Vivian Brown

Marian and Vivian Brown are the legendary San Francisco Twins. This footage from 1997 is from the Westfield Shopping Mall in SF. They chatted to my sister and took photos. Very nice people.

I was at Marion's birthday celebration this evening at the Sir Francis Drake Hotel. A wonderful birthday! She expressed her love for the city, and we expressed our love for her and her sister.

WOW!! As a young girl, I used to see The Kalamazoo Twins, later known as the San Francisco Twins, around downtown all the time. Every Saturday when me and my BFF, Brenda, would go downtown, there the twins would be. Or we'd see them walking home. This was in the mid to late 1950's and we were barely teenagers. They were always dressed alike and impeccable. Their hair was perfectly coiffed. We loved to see them. They always had a ready smile for all. RIP Kalamazoo/San Francisco Twins. RIP IN PEACE MARIAN AND VIVIAN BROWN...THE ORIGINAL KALAMAZOO TWINS!

I miss you so much Marian B. Brown and Vivian A. Brown! You brightened up the neighborhood every time you came out. So delightful to see you at the grocery market. It was wonderful sharing Nob Hill with you.

Seeing them on the bus to work or during lunch - always a joy.

Sometimes while urban hiking the streets of San Francisco, or even sitting at the adjoining table next to theirs at Uncle Vito’s Pizza, it was always fun for me to see Marian and Vivian. Like me, they were always walking; (as they aged into their later years, they switched from wearing pumps, to flat shoes). They were always identically dressed and coiffed. They were inseparable. To their praise, they were unfailingly friendly and gregarious. On one day of each week the prominent table next to the very large dining room window at Uncle Vito’s was reserved for Marian and Vivian. One day while I was sitting at the table adjacent to theirs, fans would come to their table, apologize for disturbing them, and then ask to have their photo taken with​​ them. In an enthusiastic and cheerful voice, one of twins replied, "Don't apologize ... we love taking pictures with people!"
I regret not talking to them and having my picture taken with them, because they were always friendly and kind to everyone. When Marian and Vivian died, I was sad. From time to time, I still think of the San Francisco twins.
