Beautiful. North Carolina has a pristine quality that none of the Iowas have. I think mostly because they were modernized. She's a beauty! Thank you for the footage.
Beautiful ship and appears to be in excellent condition. Ships such as these should be preserved and maintained for many, many decades for Americans to visit and be proud of. It looks almost pristine, and hats off to those who are dedicated to maintaining her and keeping her in tip=top shape! It looks almost battle-ready!
My uncle served on that ship in World War 2. It was on North Carolina that he made Chief, was appointed WO and commissioned Ensign. Definitely on my bucket list. 😢I wish I’d known him better.
I hope the pretty old girl didn't get flooded. Nice dazzle camouflage. Big heavy turrets on this, the oldest of the last-gen Battleships. She looks to be in really good nick. Well done.
Amazing how they used to build models at 1:1 scale. Mine was considerably smaller, but much easier to float in a bathtub and considerably more colorful. (I dare you to keep the responses clean) 😜 Strange to think that so much beauty can be wrought from such terrible purpose. Thanks for the glimpse.
Terrible Purpose? Weapons of war can be a deterrent to war. I can't see something that helps prevent war as being a terrible purpose. Ya'll Take Care and be safe, John
I’ll be there this September 9.. last I visited I walked all the decks.. all topside.. glorious.. but how does one get below on a tour? I’m a tool and die maker, an engineer and designer.. it’s in my blood to seek the view of the mechanism below.. can I get down there for a walk? The engine room? It would one of my great achievements to see such a place. I’ve sat in B-17’s,B29, B 24 liberator.. In a Mig and a P51.. been to the Submarine USS Cod twice… I’d love to see inside a WW2 Battleship. Just once in my lifetime.. I’m 67
Any US Navy Battleship that should have been saved, it should have been BB 56, Washington. BB 56 was the ONLY U.S. ship to ever sink a foreign capital ship in WWII. Tragedy
Looks amazing !! A shame the British didn't really preserve their old battleships except for the Cruiser Belfast . I have been on the Missouri in Pearl Harbor that was a great experience that ship is a part of history the signing of the Japanese surrender and the end of WW2 .
Not being a jerk but They are ALL a part of History. The signing of the surrender was a great piece of history but the USS North Carolina was the first New Battleship to come to Pearl Harbor after the Japanese attack. She was a Brand New 'Fast Battleship' (the first) and was the most decorated Battleship of WW2. Being brand new and picked for the surrender 'Show' is nice and all, but being one of the ships that Made that Surrender happen is really what it is all about. Ya'll Take Care and be safe, John
Shame on France too, who scrapped their beautiful Richelieu and Jean Bart battleships in the late 60's and early 70's : one of them could have made a great naval museum ! They only kept the huge Richelieu's guns (one can be seen in Ecole Navale, Brest). Congrats to USA for keeping some of their great battleships alive !
Actually it is. It was an old DJI spark. Cheapest drone they made. Didn't handle wind very well. Thanks for taking your time to not only be wrong, but a jerk as well, for absolutely no reason at all!

They can only stay preserved if people donate, and donate...
You made a nice video. Thank you for uploading.
Always a picturesque ship. Smartly painted and far from plain battleship gray.

I practically lived on that ship over the years...

Every time Im in NC to visit its during Christmas and cold as hell there. Th is summer im going there and to Kittyhawk.
Would be funny if some of those AA guns squared up on that drone.
O yeah
I know it's not a model but it looks like one. Too bad they broke up Washington.
Except for the live people walking around on her deck!

That's definitely not a DJI drone. If I'm wrong, I think you need to calibrate the gimbal.

@@ericwood4226 I apologize, I didn't realize offending people was illegal these days...
Go Navy!
My mom carried a tin can asking for donations when she was in school to bring her back home after she was decommissioned.
