I'm an old Jazz fan that has been Shreya's #1 American fanboy for the past ten years. At 36, she is already the best pop singer who has ever lived. Duke Ellington once described Ella Fitzgerald as "beyond category." Shreya is a genius that is difficult to quantify, especially given we Americans don't understand any of the ten languages she commonly sings in. She is a musical Rosetta stone, can sing any genre, any tempo, shred complex beats, sing with great feeling, her lower register is deepening as she matures, she is now in her prime. Beyond category? Duke had no idea what he was saying. Thank you to Berklee for creating a community that appreciates Indian popular music and gives it the attention it deserves. When will American music fans wake up?
She stays 2 building aways when ever she does riyaz at her penthouse, my frnd calls me who stays next to her building.. I'm blessed to her her voice 3rice a month.. nothing but smile on my face n my soul.. So Beautiful, simple, humble, down to earth kind in nature and a traditional wear lover..
The fact that she's sitting so calmly doing all those swiftest harkats effortlessly shows how mature, rehearsed and polished singer she is. It's a blessing to hear everytime she sings.
I can see these points in Shreya's voice: 1: discipline 2: sweetness 3: patience 4: the classical Bengali touch❤️ ❤️❤️❤️❤️ She is gem of India So proud of you.
Here is it! When One side Bollywood is remaking nd ruining the classics, nd the other side musicians like these ppl r making it in an another level! Kudos to the entire team... Always pleasure to watch nd listen Shreya !
Listening to this rendition, I had tears in my eyes. Remembering my grandmother who on her dying bed didnt remember our names but used to sing this song flawlessly with all the lyrics. We miss her a lot. May she rest in peace.
CAN WE JUST TAKE A MOMENT TO APPRECIATE THE INCREDIBLE JUGALBANDI OF THE INSTRUMENTALISTS, They didn't just play their instruments they were going with the flow and enjoying every bit of it. As a guitarist myself i have tremendous respect for them and of-course Shreya Ghoshal is as usual incredible with her performance. :)
Dear Team Berkley, the Musicians and Very Honourable Shreya Ghoshal, as an Artist, I can only say that I offer my utmosf gratitude and Humble Bow to you all. I cried and it made me cry to see the Blessing of your Outstanding Creativity and Talent. Stay Blessed all of you. Mam We Respect you for your Enchanting and Mesmerising Voice. Regards from An Artist in Peshawar Pakistan. Love and Blessings.
This is how recreation of a classics should be done...Must watch for T- series who is destroying the level of music to earn money.. please T- series don't degrade the level of Indian music please understand that u r representing ur nation ..lots of money can be earned by creating good quality music..a request by all the music lovers..
That orange haired gent [Layth Sidiq] has an elevated spirit, he's is beyond instrumentalist, he should compose. He keeps impressing w/every performance. Coming from a completely different culture, he's still able to catch the spirit of the sound & re-express w/o upsetting the flow of the river. The guy can sing too, but I think he's too humble & really needs to go solo at this point. Layth Sidiq you can only hide for so long!
1:53 - Violinist signals the guy on the tabla to start playing 2:00 - Violinist kindly gestures Shreya Ghoshal to start singing 2:43 and 6:36- Violinist again gestures her to sing her lines
Can we also appreciate the Tabla artist because of him we still get connected to the original. What a beautiful composition. They made it their own which was also beautiful.
Awesome! Shreya never disappoints her fans with her heartfelt vocals, beauty and authentic Indian dresses she wears. She is unmatched awesomeness in so many ways. Fond regards, blessings and love from Pakistan 🇵🇰❤️🇮🇳
I just noticed a small coincidence here😅 it so happens that Shreya literally swept people off their feet with her angelic voice that people are saying truly that God spent extra time in her creation. It also so happens that she's wearing white and yellow, the colours of Saraswati, goddess of music❤
I am fascinated by how they dominate the voice, this girl makes it look so easy, and what to say about the musicians ufff ... Greetings from Mexico ...
When an art surpasses the stage of hardwork & excellence it becomes spiritual. At this point it is an integral part of an artist, thus moulds in whichever form the artist desires.
Queen of voice......kya baat he ma'am main explain v ni Kar pa rha hu ki apne jo kaam Kiya he song pe bas sun Kar shock hu or soch rha hu ye kya tha.....
Badi hairani ki baat hai ke English musician classical mei maharath hasil kar rahe hai aur humare India waley rap and jaane kaise kaise song kar rahe hai .. kudos guys superb ❤️❤️
5:50- shreya sang a para. 6:20- violinist played exact same words on violin. You can literally see Shreya Ghoshal literally dumbstruck at this. What a combination of talent on stage ❤️🙏🏻
6:38 The thunderous strumming by the guy on the Mandolin after she sings “Toofanon” (meaning thunder in Hindi) just shows how some good instrumentation brings a whole another dimension into music
All praise to artistic director Annette for founding Berkeley Indian ensemble, showcasing Indian talents and assembling a phenomenal supporting cast. Truly visionary.
Shreya ghosal is no doubt an incredible gem that India owns. The perfection with which she sings cannot be doubted at all. The musicians are so fab that I can even listen to them alone.
I don’t know why but I the only way I can describe her voice is as if soft jewels rained down on glass, and breaking it in the most beautiful way. It also reminds me of light going through glass and making a rainbow!
Shreya is in a class of her own. However, the accompanists!!!! They were great indeed. The violinist blew my mind not just with how well, thought out and nuanced his pieces were but the fact that he went from the 7 beat rupak taal tempo to a 6 beat, during his solo, and merged back at 7 beat. Kudos to the magnificent tabla and the strings.
The beauty of Indian music, all improvisation! None of the musicians understand each other's language, the only language commonly understood is the language of music!
Lata Mangeshkar ji ke song agar koi ek ga sakti hain to vo one and Only Shreya Ghoshal♥ She is god gifted ♥A person without any ego. Just a soulful and magical voice😍
Shreya is undoubtedly the best when it comes to Indian music. she pulled this song so effortlessly. kudos to her for making this incredible song sound super incredible. ❤❤
Her voice just changed the environment....it gave me goosebumps when she started singing the song. Even the instrument players got a big smile on their face when she started.
Clearly they’re having the time of their lives, they’re constantly appreciating each other through facial expressions, they’re dumbstruck by each other. Masterpiece.
6:20 to 6:36 .. That violin part gave me goosebumps.. Bruhh he nailed it 🔥🔥👌👌... Literally never thought violin can sound so beautiful in a classically influenced song 💯❤
Everyone is praising shreya who is indeed exquisite, as expected.. but the two instrumentalists and their jugalbandi “conversations through music” is what took this rendition to another level for me..their highs and lows were the best part of this version
This is a pure treat. It is amazing to see instrumentalists getting such focus while playing. Shreya is pure magic! The sheer respect towards each other and eye communication of musicians is next level. Music binds this world. Greeting from Denmark! 🙂🙏

The violin doesn’t even sound like a violin anymore.
Her voice is angelic…
Just so impressed
Musicians and singers are the luckiest people on this planet
One spotlight is missing in this performance ""THE TABlA GUY!""
tabla guy control the tempo make this all a masterpiece,,,, he deserve a spotlight too
Goddess Saraswati resides in Shreya's voice.
Even Shreya's breath sounds like music. Not Kidding.
The tabla player isn't shown much in the camera but he too is doing his own bit of magic that can be felt in the whole performance. Bravo guys
She is the Queen👑
Greetings from Saudi Arabia
Usually singers take away all the praise in a performance. But here the instrumentalists are taking it to the next level.
Every Generation had there Legendary Singer.. Now 2k's is Shreya Ghoshal🔥❤
The guy with the tabala deserves a big round of applause too, did a great job back there👍
She stays 2 building aways when ever she does riyaz at her penthouse, my frnd calls me who stays next to her building.. I'm blessed to her her voice 3rice a month.. nothing but smile on my face n my soul.. So Beautiful, simple, humble, down to earth kind in nature and a traditional wear lover..
I feel no shyness coping a nailed comment like:
"God has spent extra time in the creation of Shreya Ghoshal."
Shreya is always one of the Kohinoor of India... No matter which country she goes,She keeps India's Pride... Love You Shreya Ji..
The fact that she's sitting so calmly doing all those swiftest harkats effortlessly shows how mature, rehearsed and polished singer she is. It's a blessing to hear everytime she sings.
music knows no boundaries !
a western jazz ensemble (Berklee College) + an Indian superstar (Shreya Ghoshal)

I can see these points in Shreya's voice:
1: discipline
2: sweetness

4: the classical Bengali touch❤️
❤️❤️❤️❤️
She is gem of India
So proud of you.
I'm from Morocco, and I can't count how many times I've listened to this! Blessed be this trio! Heaven!
Wow !!!!!!!!!!!!! the Violinist played so impressively as did the Lautoist.
The singer was divine.
"We may speak different language" "but music is a language that all people understand"
Here is it! When One side Bollywood is remaking nd ruining the classics, nd the other side musicians like these ppl r making it in an another level! Kudos to the entire team... Always pleasure to watch nd listen Shreya !
Just look at 8:50-8:56
This is called legend !
She didn’t forget to appreciate the musicians. 🌺🌺
Listening to this rendition, I had tears in my eyes. Remembering my grandmother who on her dying bed didnt remember our names but used to sing this song flawlessly with all the lyrics. We miss her a lot. May she rest in peace.
Our Bengali Daughter, you made us proud....Much love from Bangladesh to our Indian and Pakistani brothers and sisters listening here.
the only universal language is music.. its time for a world concert for peace in 2023
If she was born in us then this woman would win Grammy awards till she retires 🙏
I read somewhere once.. India is a nation of singers, whose first love is the kind of song you turn to when crying isn't enough... And I felt that
Best version of 'Aap Ki Nazron Ne Samjha' among all
Breath control is out of this world
The moment Shreya uttered “aap” I hit like..I knew the rest is gonna be a mesmerising experience
please remind me to listen this master piece again and again
🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲

She is the only one who can do justice to Lata Mangeshkar ji's songs
When Bollywood music is filled with kakkar family I'm soothing my ears hearing her pure voice ❤️❤️
shreya is already a legend who will be remembered for ever like Lata Mangeshkar or Asha Bhonsle.
Dear Team Berkley, the Musicians and Very Honourable Shreya Ghoshal, as an Artist, I can only say that I offer my utmosf gratitude and Humble Bow to you all. She doesn't need instruments to sing this song......alone her voice is the whole package ...
Bairstow and Starc having a quick net session between Shreya's performance 😉

Can't understand why tears were rolling down my eyes while I enjoyed this breath taking performance, Shreya Ma'am's voice is pure magic
The violinist did so much justice to this timeless classic, in his unique way. Thank you.
1:53 - Violinist signals the guy on the tabla to start playing
2:00 - Violinist kindly gestures Shreya Ghoshal to start singing
2:43 and 6:36- Violinist again gestures her to sing her lines
I am leaving this comment here so after a year whenever someone like it I get reminded of this touching song ❤️
Can we also appreciate the Tabla artist because of him we still get connected to the original. What a beautiful composition. They made it their own which was also beautiful.
Love from Japan✨ 🇯🇵 ❤️🇮🇳🙏
Awesome! Shreya never disappoints her fans with her heartfelt vocals, beauty and authentic Indian dresses she wears. She is unmatched awesomeness in so many ways. Fond regards, blessings and love from Pakistan 🇵🇰❤️🇮🇳
Listening to Lata Mangeskar and Shreya Goshal is just Great Pleasure
The tabla guy is underrated ....an kept the flow going ...
I just noticed a small coincidence here😅 it so happens that Shreya literally swept people off their feet with her angelic voice that people are saying truly that God spent extra time in her creation.

When she says “dil ki aye dhadkan theher ja..” my heart stops.. just there..
I have forgotten the number of times I've listened & been smitten by this rendition. Oof! We really are living in her era. Ears are blessed ❣
Shreya Ghoshal is India's biggest blessing ever. Period.
She even applauded and thanked the musicians at the end, what a great lady!
When an art surpasses the stage of hardwork & excellence it becomes spiritual. At this point it is an integral part of an artist, thus moulds in whichever form the artist desires.
She's no doubt the greatest singer of all time.
Jonny Bairstow plays such a good violin apart from being a world class cricketer!!

Badi hairani ki baat hai ke English musician classical mei maharath hasil kar rahe hai aur humare India waley rap and jaane kaise kaise song kar rahe hai .. kudos guys superb ❤️❤️
It's so sad to see that they replaced her with Neha Kakkar in Indian Idol
Shame
This is totally on a different level. Her play with different notes is really something. Kudos to the other musicians on the team. What a treat!
I loved the way violinist politely ask shreya to start her lines.. What a respect we can see in his eyes and smile..
I Iove İndia, Respect Shreya Ghoshal. From Azerbaijan.! 👍💛💖👍
Can we take a moment and just bow down to the greatest ever ......
LATA MANGESHKAR
The singer of the original version
She carries the legacy of Lata Mangeshkar!
5:50- shreya sang a para.
6:20- violinist played exact same words on violin.
You can literally see Shreya Ghoshal literally dumbstruck at this.
What a combination of talent on stage ❤️🙏🏻

Shreya ghosal is no doubt an incredible gem that India owns. The perfection with which she sings cannot be doubted at all. The musicians are so fab that I can even listen to them alone.
Shreya is gem of India with silken Bengalee classical touches. Every notes causes goosebumps all over my body.
It doesn't matter if you're Indian or not. When playing indiana ragas, the head bob naturally appears for all musicians.
the way she says "pad gaye dil par mere aapke parchaiyaaa" >>>>>>>>>>>>>>
1.8K dislikes? Do they consider themselves as human beings? Nobody else can sing this song with this perfection after Lataji than Shreya Ghoshal...
She is the best singer India has right now. Love her voice but sadly they replaced her with Kakkar these days. Love from Pakistan.
Shaun Tait and Jonny Bairstow playing musical instruments 😘😘
Music is the best Thing humans has created and one of the best voice 2020.
I respect sheya Goshal from Mauritius 🇲🇺 🙌 👌
I don’t know why but I the only way I can describe her voice is as if soft jewels rained down on glass, and breaking it in the most beautiful way. It also reminds me of light going through glass and making a rainbow!
Pata nahi bar bar yahi aa jata hu ye concert dekhne ajeeb si khushi milti hai 🤗

Cannot get enough of it. Need an hour of magical performance on this song alone!!!
I think I can study this performance for 1000 years and still not pick up every little nuance of her performance. What a masterpiece!
Lata Mangeshkar ji ke song agar koi ek ga sakti hain to vo one and Only Shreya Ghoshal♥
She is god gifted ♥A person without any ego. Just a soulful and magical voice😍
Shreya is undoubtedly the best when it comes to Indian music. she pulled this song so effortlessly. kudos to her for making this incredible song sound super incredible. ❤❤
She is not only a singer...she is magic❤️
The violinist is pure soul. He is like dived in music. Even Shreya G is also impressed.
I cried... Someone said it true...with music you can reach, feel God!
Her voice just changed the environment....it gave me goosebumps when she started singing the song. Even the instrument players got a big smile on their face when she started.
We must not forget that India has a very strong musical backbone from classical to folk to instruments to ragas...
Shirya ghoshal's voice is itself a complete music . No need to play any instrument when she is singing.

I had the honour of meeting Shreya Ghoshal madamji back in 2015 when she visited Bhutan.
Love from Bhutan🙏🙏🙏🎤
This is a pure treat. It is amazing to see instrumentalists getting such focus while playing. Shreya is pure magic! The sheer respect towards each other and eye communication of musicians is next level. Music binds this world. Greeting from Denmark! 🙂🙏
