If we did not choose to sleep, then perhaps we can still say there are 24 hours within the time we remained awake. A non "day" and "night" time cycle. There is no break, if you don't believe it to be this way. It is not so unusual to believe that there are 24 hours. If I choose to believe that there were only 12 hours, then that is a limiting belief.

There are 1440 mins per day. 18x80=1440 so what he said about 12 hours in a “DAY”(meaning hours of daylight) he is correct. Per book of Enoch! With this math, this means there are truly 18 hours per day, not 24. Read yourself
