I remember the pixel art and music blewing my freaking mind the first time I played this game, so unique! And what a great port for such an early Mega Drive release (December 1989, only 1 year after the arcade original). They even customized some aspects like the bomb being bigger or the red weapon when fully powered now being a circular shield which is more interesting IMO since it differs more compared to the other, blue and green weapons. This version also has a different ending for each of the 5 loops and talking about this, I still have to 1CC the game through those 5 loops which is not an easy task... An iconic and timeless, shooting masterpiece.
Night Driver Best shmup ever Best space-themed game ever Best game that has an x ever Best game with 3 different spaceships ever Best game released in 1988-1989 ever Basically, one of my favorite games of all time! TRUXTOOOON!
I know that the Japanese video game company called SEGA became more present in Brazil, Nintendo dominated in the United States and Mexico, but without a doubt it was a time of pure fun, long live SEGA!
Truxton fills the screen with effects that would make an SNES drool. No blinking. Hardly any screen flicker. This game is worth every penny it fetches today . . . Great upload!
...but I never played past the first round?! There are cutscenes?!? 58:18 -- "Tom"... is a chibi character...? With a Pokemon...?" Super Fighter"... what 1:57:12 -- oh you have got to be kidding me ROFL
+emajansen What?! xD music is subjective but IMO they're better on Mega Drive, more unique and memorable, but this version also has good sound effects while on PC Engine they're HORRIBLE, unbearable (and same for many others PC Engine games and even some PC Engine *CD* games which is lame, check Sapphire or Rayxanber III for examples...).
+Drew B The whole soundtrack is dope and the game itself too! This Mega Drive port is great with its rearranged soundtrack + an exclusive weapon (the red one when fully powered) + a different ending for each of the 5 loops. And to think that it was an early Mega Drive game (1989) makes it even more impressive!
Still remember the spots to be in to avoid crap and what ship to use or not for certain levels. Ahhhh ... Love the rainbow super shot but the blue lasers at night with the lights off was AMAZING!!
Ahh 1 of my favorite game on Sega thanks to upload this I remember complete it at stage 2 world 1 once when I was 4 years old but forgot the title of game.
The Sega genesis in my opinion was the last breath of retro gaming. The dividing line between retro gaming and higher graphics gaming. Reason is that the genesis gives you the vibe of retro gaming it's got a cartridge and you can still see the pixels.
Truxton (Tatsujin) is a classic mega drive version of the arcade game With ABSOLUTELY AWESOME graphics and STUNNING gameplay The levels are 2Fast 2Furious with Spectacular Boss battles Excellent power ups and AMAZING Soundtrack This is a classic Sega game with a vengeance 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
I was never a big shoot em up fan. I did like this one , Radian Traid and Nemesis, pity I was never any good and any of them. Thank for the play through.
WTF, MadMatty? Truxton was not supposed to be beaten this way! I find it impossible to guide the spaceship with the speed fully upgraded and the screen full of small bullets to dodge! Unbelievable play!
Loved this game as a kid started playing again it’s too hard lol, Although watching this play though at 6:38 this guy goes into one of those green discs that comes from behind and kills it, why didn’t he die from impact? Cheat code?
This game won't knock your socks off with visual, but if you give it a chance, you'll be hooked! The opening waves seem rather generic as you wipe out red planes that approach in predictable patterns. The difficulty ramps nicely however, and once you reach the well-fortified space stations things really heat up
You know I discovered this trick by mistake! My mom gets very bad reactions from seeing the TV screen flash. One day she told me to get off the video games and I spited her by freezing the bomb over and over. To my surprise, everything on the screen disappeared.
6:39 the thing coming from down, he should have died, i know cause i was playing this game since 1993 and something like that happens you're dead! I knew something was fishy " playing for 5 rounds and not die once", cheats or something. PS: watch it with 0.25 speed and you'll see.
Using 5x beams at the last level is a nightmare. All of the enemy's shots are of the same color - can't see shit. Looking back at this today - man - my dad must've gone fucking mad at listening to me play this game for hours on his TV. hahaha. I didn't even care in the slightest. And this music is still badass. But what the hell. Ending 4. So the last boss was the father? The dude in charge of sending all that shit towards us? And they cried and walked off into the sunset, just like that? Never really cared for the story, but come on. That's bullshit.
This is an odd games. Very early Genesis title and it shows. The music is Master System FM Module stuff (Just a couple of FM channels), the sound effects have weird crackle and other defects to them and there's zero layering and animation in the background, which feels like one big canvas that you're flying over. The art style in interesting but not particularly great and death comes often, from everywhere and is often not particularly fair. Still, something about it all did captivate me enough to master and beat the game on Normal, which was one of the hardest Genesis shoot em up conquests I've done. By the way, I also own the PC Engine version. People will BS you that that version is better. It might seem like it at first, as the colors are more vibrant and the sound is less abrasive. However, as with a lot of PC Engine vertical shoot em up arcade ports, the screen is too zoomed in and low res, giving you less critical reaction time and there are a lot of technical limitations issues. For example, instead of filling the entire screen, the bomb effect now only takes less than half the screen and stuff starts flickering and disappearing when the the action gets too intense. Despite being a very early Genesis games with a lot of deficiencies of its own, I'd say that the Sega one is a smoother experience overall. Also, the PC Engine version seems quite a bit harder. Anyway, in my opinion, this is one of the precursors to the "bullet hell" genre, as the enemy projectile patterns get pretty intense and you do need to learn them pretty well, as simple reaction might not be enough.
There's a bug/cheat for this game.. if you use a smart bomb on a boss and pause the game while the skull is visible on the screen, it continually damages the boss. If you wait a few seconds then unpause the boss will be dead.
I felt a little disappointed seeing the end of the game in this version. Definitely, I still would prefer the perpetual looping arcade version to this game. I still have a record to beat which is 10.5 million set by a friend of mine who’s challenge I earlier accepted to beat.( my score currently at 6.1 million) An ending game version would prevent me altogether from accomplishing the feat.
The music in this game was not properly set to the speed it is supposed to be, runs too fast. Pretty much the fault of the programmer for not catching this before the game was shipped to retailers.
Has anyone tried not killing the stage 2 boss to see if the game transitions into stage 3? Or does space just keep flying forever? I guess something could happen with stage 3 into stage 4. Does the “water” keep going?
Man, I remember playing this game with my parents on the Sega. Thank you for uploading this!
Funny thing is when my dad bought a Sega Genesis we played this game together.
same here!! one of the best memories ^^ I managed to do a no death run in this game and someday perhaps a speedrun.

Eu tenho no meu mega drive
Uma reliquia en qualquer coleçao e para mim um dos melhores shoot en up de sempre ao lado do lords of thunder do pc engine/ segacd
I loved this game so much as a kid. It was one of my favorites. I especially loved getting the green upgrade, it felt so satisfying.
Truxton fills the screen with effects that would make an SNES drool. No blinking. Hardly any screen flicker. This game is worth every penny it fetches today . . .
Great upload!
Fills the screen with a big black hud bar on the side ha ha ha
Eu achava que era bom no Truxton, mas esse cara é de outro mundo, o cara até brinca com as naves inimigas. kkkkkk
That music takes me back to the Sega Channel days. *tear*
And people claims that SNES had the better sound chip.
Kalle Andersson It was. it was better at outputting crappy muffled samples instead of real music.
Man, I played the heck out of this as a kid. Very well made shooter. The adrenaline kicks in when you get that 5th speed boost
...but I never played past the first round?! There are cutscenes?!?
58:18 -- "Tom"... is a chibi character...? With a Pokemon...?" Super Fighter"... what
1:57:12 -- oh you have got to be kidding me ROFL
This game needs a port to Xbox, PC, and PS4 seriously. It’s so underrated...
I played the hell out of this game as a kid. Listening to Hybrid Theory on repeat and raging at the meteorite part of the game. Great memories!
What? This has an ending? I can't believe it! This was a super hard game for me! Great job!
Spaceships of red blue and green - hear the alien ladies scream “WE WANT TRUXTON”
Another classic game I forgot about. This is a great game and reminds me of my teen years playing my Sega.
I loved this game, it was my Favorit Game bye SEGA,thank you for uploading
This is the most beautiful and fearless run of truxton I've ever seen !! #YOU-ARE-TRUXTONGOD

Holy Crap! I need this game in my life like right now! And the music on the opening stage is AAAMMMAAAZZZIIINNNGG!
Try the PC engine version the sound is far faaaar better! ;-)

Gotta love that first stage music.

Really good games, good times, ;)
It's still a good game that can give u a good time.
If you didnt play this as a kiddo, you missed out on an eargasmic childhood 🤣
Esse rapaz joga muito parabéns eu jogo esse jogo desde 1990
Some shooters can be considered marathons.. this is a goddamn triathlon.
This is the ultimate retro space shooter
Hey guys, I think this speed is very fast to avoid all this shots, maybe, just an idea, but some kind of slow motion helped a lot, don´t you think?
Classic Game Room. :3
He knows it's the best
Eu nasci entre os vídeos games mais minha infância foi marcada por esse jogo que pena que esses tempo não vai voltar mais

The SNES and the Genesis were the last true gasp for lo-res pixel art gaming, truly the 16 bit generation was awesome.
Look at this game. It's inviting you to play it.
Whoever played this deserves a fucking trophy. You made it look way too easy. Lol. Well done!
still have 2 cartridges of it on sega megadrive ^^ most awesome game of sega by my thoughts
I played this game alot when i was a kid, great game and supergreat sound on this one.
Awesome shooter. Genesis MIDI music was just orgasmic in its first titles.
It's not MIDI
Music Macro Language (MML), not MIDI.
my life was back 25 years....
I used to call stage 3 the "bullshit" stage because of the insane amounts of B's and S's they give you!
Truxton (Tatsujin) is a classic mega drive version of the arcade game

This is a classic Sega game with a vengeance 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
I played it on the arcade and was addicted. Best shoot em up ever made imo. They should import this to the consoles.
Muito show!!!...Um grande clássico!!!...Parabéns!!!
Never knew this game had an actual ending, just assumed it was an old school token eater. good job dude.
great game. I played this for years and never beat it. nice to finally see the end.
i beat the game at 40 years old but in easy level
This was the best game growing up! could play for hours!
Your Gameplay is amazing!!
Amo esse jogo, ganhei recentemente um MEGA DRIVE mas esse jogo, to extremamente feliz e vivendo uma nostalgia gostosa ... esse jogo é top demais...
Pretty fun playing this on a megadrive emulator on the psp cuz you can save and load at any point at the touch of a button
14 years of searching finally i found it !
Nothing like a good game of zapper while in fishnets.⚡♥
OH MY GOD the 2nd ending, that is the guy who controls the truxton ship thingie? I never knew that o.o
Music is so relaxing...
finally this game is done! hopefully you guys do truxton 2 in the near future as well
watching in 2018 XD may the legends live on
when you missed the powerup at about 3:30 it looked like you did it on purpose... did you?
I almost screamed at my computer when that happened, lol
Was gonna get this for my Genesis, but it looks hard as hell. Expensive too.
I was never a big shoot em up fan. I did like this one , Radian Traid and Nemesis, pity I was never any good and any of them. Thank for the play through.
I love the music. Ree Ohta among others was responsible I believe.
played first at the arcades. a memorable game
WTF, MadMatty? Truxton was not supposed to be beaten this way! I find it impossible to guide the spaceship with the speed fully upgraded and the screen full of small bullets to dodge!
Unbelievable play!
I need this game back in my life.
Truxton on Genesis is awesome port the music is awesome even Mark From Classic Game Room "TRUXTON WE WANT TRUXTON!!!!"
There's a mobile phone of this also that came out in 2020...Awesome game!! So wonderful!!!
Loved this game as a kid started playing again it’s too hard lol,

13:50 something is as far as I ever got.
Really good game plus the stage 1 music is catchy as hell.
How do you get past the asteroids/rocks in stage 5 when you lose all your speed and power ups??? its impossible.
You can't. It sucks.
I only wish the Sega Genesis didn't speed up the soundtrack. Aside form that, it's an excellent port of the arcade game.
yeah it was a mistake that Masahiro Yuge later admitted. Wish there's a mod for fixing this
Is it just me, but the music when you beat all 5 stages makes me think about Voyager 2 in interstellar space after conquering 5 planets.
great watching this, i played the arcade version, completed it without loss of life and using bombs, doubt i could do that now lol
This game won't knock your socks off with visual, but if you give it a chance, you'll be hooked! The opening waves seem rather generic as you wipe out red planes that approach in predictable patterns. The difficulty ramps nicely however, and once you reach the well-fortified space stations things really heat up
the bomb trick: use a bomb and press pause over and over again lol. One bomb becomes like 10
You know I discovered this trick by mistake! My mom gets very bad reactions from seeing the TV screen flash. One day she told me to get off the video games and I spited her by freezing the bomb over and over. To my surprise, everything on the screen disappeared.
I don't think it quite becomes 10 though. More like 1.3 bombs.
So basically the Mega Man 1 pause glitch?
All hail Lord Karnage!
6:39 the thing coming from down, he should have died, i know cause i was playing this game since 1993 and something like that happens you're dead! I knew something was fishy " playing for 5 rounds and not die once", cheats or something.

+B Kamil Playing since 1993... just wondering, have you ever beaten it?
yinyang Still playing it on my PC and yes, many times Sir.

G-God? Is that you? o_O
Make sure you give the arcade edition a god on MAME, by the way

When I was a kid, I got white power, this power was the mixture of the three powers, and have not found information about it.
got this gem less than 15 dollars finally got around to play it
The Genesis plays the music too fast. I like it slowed down like the arcade version especially for Sally(Stage 2 Music).
6.39 and 6.48 you crash into the green ships and don't die???
How do you get those colourful revolving rings around your ship?

Is it a robot playing when round 5 begins? It becomes near impossible and that's WITH save states
