I'm not sure if you're aware that Tennessee Whiskey was originally recorded by David Allan Coe in 1981. You should react to it so that you can understand its roots. Chris and Teddy's covers are AMAZING but they wouldn't exist without David Allan. Also, I absolutely love all your reactions!!!

This was a great one by the way. Back in the 70s we drank a lot of Boone’s Farm Strawberry Hill wine. Cheap, sweet and tasted good, but mysteriously never rated by any serious oenophile (couldn’t have been the $2.49 a bottle and no cork could it lol). 🍾😁

This is not in the same universe as George Jones version.
This video review is IMO a bit snippy, lacking respect for the artist's rendition. Commenting with a sheen of dissing on how Teddy uses his mouth and such... I couldn't even watch it to the end. Maybe it's an age thing:
I'm 69 and got hooked to music in the 60s and 70s, and have been making music off and on since I was 16. This song was first recorded in in 1981 long before Chris Stapleton did it. Teddy's is a bit slower in bmp and it adds to it.
And above all, he really feels it and it comes through. Go see his rendition of Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On." More polished, but has the same soul and depth of delivery.

Why in the world would you take suck a great song and totally trash it's style. George Jones version is the best there will ever be of this song, I'm not saying Chris Stapleton or Teddy can't sing or anything like that but for a iconic song to be done it should be respected, both the writer and artist put so much into it and that should be respected.
The George Jones version is a legitimate cover of the original tennessiee whiskey written by Dean dillon / Linda hargrove. First recorded by David Allen coe. the Chris Stapleton version is not the original tennessiee whiskey it only contains the lyrics but Chris has taken the music in its entirely from " I'd rather go blind " etta James. 1968 .
@@isx9ry I never said George Jones or Chris Stapletons was the original. David said George did it better than he did himself. I said both the writer and artist without naming them put so much into it and that should be respected.
The wonderful thing about songs and which version is best is that it is all subjective opinion. There is no objective quantitative formula to rank songs, it is ALL opinion. Therefore, there is no right or wrong answer. What is best to your ears and your musical taste may be the exact opposite of someone else’s. Who is right? Both!!! Anyone who says, “This version IS the best” without including the words “in my opinion” only makes themselves look foolish.
