Hollywood is Broken: Hooray!

- An Anthology of Professional Woes video made the rounds recently, lamenting the fact that many Hollywood professionals have been out of work for so long that they are now at the end of their collective ropes. They seem to be asking for some kind of assistance… presumably from the half of the country that they have mocked, denigrated, laughed at and insulted for the last two generations. It’s kind of hard to feel sympathy for people who knowingly - usually GLEEFULLY - chased half of their audience (and paychecks) away.

If you want a microcosm of the Hollywood caste system, note that the armorer went to jail, but Alec Baldwin not only isn’t, but still has a career.
Maybe, maybe not. His trial is set to begin in July.
The armorer is responsible for gun safety on the set and that there is no live ammunition around. That was her only job and she failed.
Bill isn’t being mean. The failure of Hollywood is poetic justice, and being happy with that isn’t mean.
INDEED -- EVEN THOSE OF US WITH LITTLE RELIGION VIEW IT AS A MODERN DAY SODOM & HAVE ZERO PITY FOR THAT FILTHY IDEOLOGICAL CESSPOOL
I hate Hollywood, I will never pay to see another Hollywood produced movie ever again
I'm from Denmark and I feel 100% the same way about the so-called creative class. 100%
the "creative class" produces nothing OF VALUE

How much would you pay to watch two dudes kissing or a black little mermaid for an hour and a half over a coke and some popcorn? For me ... I would pay $25 "NOT" TO SEE IT!
Indeed! Time to pop the champagne/whiskey/et al an' celebrate!
Now to remove that eye-stain sign plastering the hillside!
It should be renamed Commiewood.
How about Harveywood after Harvey Weinstein?
Read the book Red Stars Over Hollywood.
It’s exactly the same on Broadway. It’s a cesspool.
They made their bed...now they can lay in it.
I'll reserve my sympathy for those who haven't breathed contempt for people like me (straight white old men) at every meeting and party they attend. To be sure, I'm sure there are some who haven't, but if/when they are identified, I'll feel sorry for them.
Amber heard... Pre-soiled the sheets!
I have no respect for unions. You can blow sunshine up my backside all you want, but I will still hate unions. I agree with Bill's humor on it as it's true.
Angel Stutios are doing well
I just love the idea that all these banal and evil woke "creators" are being put out of business by cute cat videos!
All Hollywood make is crap 💩
They did more than cut it in half. The half they cut off are better consumers. They are now King Shit of Turd Mountain.
Star Wars is a perfect example of how badly they read the situation. They thought there were enough wokeys to replace generations of (mostly) boys and men who bought tickets, VHS tapes, DVDs, BluRays and mountains of toys - and didn't realize wokeys not only didn't have the numbers, but didn't have the cash to replace the income stream that original Star Wars had been.
Bill’s story about Hollywood film execs reminds me of a story Harlan Ellison relates in his book “An Edge in My Voice”. He was pitching ideas for a Star Trek script to some of these execs and others who were hired to work on the film, and the scenic designer asked Ellison if he could work in some Aztecs into the film. Ellison explained that the Enterprise was visiting an alien world in a remote galaxy, but the scenic designer was unfazed. “Why can’t you put some Aztecs into the script? I really like Aztecs.” Ellison stood up, said, “I’m a writer; I don’t know what the @* you are”, and walked out of the room.
@@pacldawson I love Harlan Ellison!

Filmmaking in Georgia is an international business environment, it is not Hollywood!
I worked in L.A. in the art department on seventy movies for twenty years and retired and left that swill of a city in 2012! I now live in a town of 1,800 in N. California and the only things I miss are the smog and the really stupid, arrogant, insufferable people! 😁 Still have to live with Gruesome, but it's easy to ignore him here.
Beautifully distilled, Scott!
"HA-ha" (Nelson Muntz)
A good number of the people who gravitate to Hollywood have that Lottery Player's mentality. They don't go there with the idea of being a clipboard holder on a set, or arranging costumes in the dressing room; they all think that they're gonna hit it big. And when that doesn't happen for 99.99999% of them, the reality of moving from job to job, living paycheck to paycheck on a gig that might be cancelled tomorrow can be soul crushing. And for those Social Justice Warriors who went into the business with an ideological agenda thinking that they were going to remake the universe in their sick and confused images, the frustration and rejection are multiplied ten-fold.
So there's a plus side. 😉
No work in Holywood? Gee, I can't imagine why. Bill, they will never get it!
Interesting typo, lol. "Holy wood"
Hollywood's secret(one of them) is that all of The Rock's movies were written my Mrs Mildred Q. Abernathy's third grade Language Arts class, in Point Lakota grade school of Lackawanna lake, Iowa.
Just stop Hollywood.
Wow. Really? That works?
Stop communism.
Hmmm. Didn’t work.
Did it work for you?
Now it needs to be rebuilt correctly. The US actually needs the income...just not at the expense of sanity.
They lost me decades ago with the endless, gratuitous sex and violence which I personally do not find entertaining at all. It's worse than watching the news. Bring back Lauel and Hardy or Martin and Lewis.
I’m much more likely to see a movie if it has gratuitous sex and violence. It’s equivalent to having a good seasoning or sauce on an entree. Sin City is one that comes to mind.👍
In 5 years, tens of thousands of people like myself will be making science fiction epics with AI, and all of them will be better written than anything Hollywood can produce.
I think another factor to this, is all the short clips people watch today. Animal videos, people falling, fights. That sort of thing.
I haven't wawtched a movie in years. And I'm in front of the screen 24/7. I watch RUclips, Odyssee and spend time on social media, No time to watch fictional movies.
I hope sooner. I just finished Old Man's War and I loved it. Better than most any movie or TV show story in the past decade.
@@LarsAgerbk Wow, I don't typically watch movies no point in it. Still I am in physical rehab, they have some sort of TV service and I've been watching old movies, not any new ones😂, channels like TCM
AI is flat, dark and it is crap.
@TheresaPowers right now, it is. In five years, you won't be able to tell what's AI and what's not.
🦆Hugh Grant as an Oompa Loompa is akin to pigs flying, as in, "Yeah, when Hugh Grant plays an Oompa Loompa!.. Fun facts: In the original GERMAN tale, by The Brothers Grimm, Snow White is described as having: "SKIN AS WHITE AS SNOW". This is why she is named Snow White. "Off White and the Seven Diversity Hires"? They totally changed the story but didn't have the guts to not use the same name. SMH.. Looks more like "Yellow Snow and the Pirates of the Caribbean".
I remember in literature class in middle school learning that Snow White was meant to represent the best of Germanic womanhood, not only her white skin, but her dark hair (at the time it was written, blond was not the ideal) and her red lips represented vitality.
Now that's a movie title I would have paid to see.
Hey! I was a Teamster! Bill is right.
They have literally driven enough conservative people out of the industry to form a dozen independent conservative studios. While at the same time with the DEI investment scandal's and Bankman Fried etc, they have alienated just as many conservative investors that they are available to invest in those new studios. Nelson Peltz looks like he will win his bid to get on the Disney board this week or get so close it may not matter.
A big B o o - H o o...
In human history, Hollywood, where entertainment is made by few people controlling big money, is an anomaly. Musicians playing at the tavern or performers putting on a pageant were local folks. There were probably more performers per capita in medieval times than in our day. The internet has given such regular people an opportunity to find an audience regardless of physical distance.
PS, Bill, the talking dog story is great - I would *love* to hear the true events that inspired it.
How did you three guys get together in the first place? I really miss the Firewalls.
Great sense of humor, Bill. You guys are talented and truthful and don't mind making fun of yourselves, something the entertainment industry seems to have lost over the decades.
I had to click the like button before I even started the video, lol
I love you guys...keep up the good work.
Sadly, they will wail and bemoan their fate; but won't ever ask if there's anything they can do to change it. *shrug*, I'll try and find time to care, even a little. (schedule is REALLY full just now, tho
*Writer's block*
Movies aren't made in Hollywood anymore.
I watched this on the home site already, and it's excellent!
hahahahahahaha Greg Gutfeld just quoted Stephen Green!
Hey, writers...learn to code ......,..,,..... hahahahahahahaha
Ideally, RUclips would strictly be about the talent of the video producers.
Unfortunately, we see RUclips's programmers and managers has become in effect the new producer, using their control of the search, interest auto-generating, and subscription algorithms to dictate and control who can and cannot succeed on the site, especially if you're conservative/non-left-wing political commentators or educational/edutainment channels/video content.
I was an avid moviegoer and would stay up late at night if one of my favorites, like Stalag 17, aired. Now, I have a hard time even holding my attention to a movie. For example, I went back to Hulu for Shogun. I got through the first three and a half of episode 4, and I loved the one made in the 1980s. Heck, I read the book not once but 6 times. Right now, I am watching We Are the Lucky One; my guess is that it's going to bore me, too. Now on the other hand, there is this "What We Saw" on the Daily Wire, I took the Daily Wire for "Empire of Terror," it's holding my attention, but dropping one a week is driving me a bit nuts. I want to binge-watch. I don't care a wit about Hollywood.
Totally agree with your union atmosphere experience. About 55 years ago I had graduated from college and was immediately drafted. Because of a residency change to another state I got the draft notice recinded and address changed to delay my enlistment until the following late Winter. During those months I worked a nonunion job for a testing company at a huge construction site of a large production building. All union of course of many trades unions. My first exposure to unionism. There were many grievance skirmishes and walkouts during those months. One sticks in my mind, an electrician's job assignment was to install a breaker box in the huge basement level on a poured concrete wall. The guy ran the conduit to the wall area and where the box was by blueprint to be mounted, there was a laborer's shovel leaning against the wall no laborer in sight. He simply moved the shovel 3 feet to his right and began drilling and mounting the box on the concrete wall. The laborer came looking for his shovel and somehow knew the electrician had moved it without calling for him to move it, complained to his job steward and a massive walkout occurred. And at least partly why America is such a shitshow in our current plane of existence. A bunch of uncooperative spoiled power hungry union brats.

Wait, so _What We Do In the Shadows_ isn’t the only “vampire reality” -show- [movie]?!
Has Bill ever thought about interviewing Paul Chato it would be interesting.
Hmmmm. Just back from the grocery store, and now I can make a nice entertainment sandwich. Stick around, it is about to get much, much worse.

Y'all need to add another talking head to this show, an AI-generated talking dog named Schindler.
The last great hollywood writing was "jerkoff equation" from Silicon Valley im like 2018
"Write the code!" 😂 joke from biden
Happy Bill could make it up from his couch nap just in time.
Well when you can't sleep at night early afternoon or morning naps are the bomb diggity.
The writing has been terrible in the last several years. I am old enough to remember good movies coming out all the time. I go months now before I think there is something decent enough to see. Sure, you can stream them but there is nothing to compare sitting in a theatre with a big screen, a good box of popcorn and a drink and just get lost in a great movie. Times are so sad anymore.
holly wood makes nothing of value anymore, like the overpriced concessions.
I have to take ear plugs if I go to see a movie in a theater, if I ever go. Volume does not equal quality. Probably a good reason why I have not been to one and close to two decades now. 🤷 I'm glad you enjoy it
@@gnods5871 I’m not into all the big action movies, although I did like Top Gun. Yes, you can always hear the loud music and noises from the movie going on in the next theatre.

Bill, care to recommend some of your favorite production channels on RUclips?
I couldn't leave a like on this video...
I'd say turn to your fanbase (fan fic, fan art, etc) but hollywood doesn't deserve such goodness
They charge too much for movies independent film festivals are better really offend alt right room mate even more. I neither understand nor cared for Hollywood politics incidentally like watching old movies. Weimer movies were so decadent to annoy my conservative room mate to no end Hollywood waste time on geeky movies which are not decadent. The consevative room mate put a free star trek comic book I received at a local comic con in a safe. He also told me men and women are different I'd make a nice wife and you women folk need us men folk for protection all I could do was shudder. The real question why didn't he go to the comic con he cared more about fictional characters than ever did. Anyway as a evil liberal I don't care movie stars boo wooing about their narcisstic tap dancing issues I lived with the alt right or tap dancing Nazi and he wasn't even a good tap dancer.
Are Scott Ott and Steve Green still anti-Trump, or have they become un-stupid?
Good question.. after the mid-terms of 2022 Green made a big show of dropping Trump. What about now… are they actually going to support the Republican nominee?
@@rtaj247 I've only recently started watching Bill Whittle again. If Ott and Green haven't changed their minds, I'll cancel my subscription.
As far as Scott is concerned, I’d bet he stays stupid. He’s anti Trump and a proud Christian. It’s really hard to overcome that. During one episode, he even started crying upon recalling the majesty of his being at a Bill Clinton event. I have much more hope for Steve. I seem to remember him saying that he’s not religious and is almost always on the right side of an issue.
@@Sigmund1924 He got all choked up thinking about Bubba? OK, that means Scott Ott is a real slob. He's fundamentally a leftist. What a SLOB.
