Who do you think takes care of the animals and the crops? When you see mom working, that usually means she is helping her husband because he is busy with something that has to be done. So if he has a few days off and drinks good for him. FYI, if your husband drinks all the time, don't project your family issues on to this family. They work hard everyday, they teach their children to work, while we sit on our couch watching cable TV. BE KIND. You couldn't do what they do, but if you ever got lost in their world I bet they would be kind and take care of you.

Cleanliness does not mean you should have, soaps, lotions etc. Wash away the dirt with the available water source. Understood. Nepal is very close to the. Himalayas and the environment is very cool, but, there are so many countries around the world who have the same climate but there the people are maintaining proper hygiene. I agree cleanness does not need costly soaps, water does wonders, just rinse off the dust a bit more and it would do so much for sanitary purposes.
