I loved the 15mm 1.7 on my GX9 for photography and now use it on my Olympus EM1 mkii. It is tiny, but has wonderful character. Then Sigma is ultimately designed for APS-C and adapted to M4/3 so it is larger than it should be.
Really cool video - I am pretty sure I have this lens but in another mount. Great to see it perform so well on the G9 II. Thanks for a great video, big thumbs up 👍👍👍
Hey Shane how're you doing? Nice footage! I use those Sigma lenses all the times for filmmaking. I love it! Yes unfortunately Sigma doesn't produce any more lenses for M43 as far as I know. What I love about this lens is that it's really sharp wide open at f/1.4. It's even sharper than the Panasonic 25mm f/1.7 in my testings while the background gets very creamy blurred out. Works fantastic with the GH7 autofocus and in body image stabilisation. My favourite is the Sigma 30mm focal length f1.4 especially for talking had. Have a nice vacation! Oh and ever tried to film at night in low light condition with it? Works amazing!
The Sigma 16mm 1.4 is absolutely insane on the G9II/GH7 twins. The problem is it's just so massive. I feel like everyone has such a honey moon phase with this lens, being blown away by the quality, sharpness, autofocus, well, everything. The Sigma really is a A++ lens. Then after 3 to 4 months with it everyone just goes "Jesus I don't feel like dealing with this beast anymore" and just goes back to tried and true Panny 1.7s, like the 20mm or 25mm. For my studio video work I use the lens all the time. If I'm ever out around the city, god no! Gimme the small Pannys. Haha.
I am primarily going to use this on a tripod and for that its great. I love the 67mm filter thread as well it matches all my S Series full frame lenses there, but yeah the 15, 20, and 25mm are way smaller and lighter. If I had to travel light, the 25mm is the best choice for me.
After thinking about it several times, I decided to get the Leica 15mm 1.7 instead of the Sigma, not because of the price (here in Italy the Sigma is cheaper, I don't know about the rest of the world), but because of the SIZE: the Leica is really tiny and you carry it with you all the time with ease...the Sigma is not!
I did the same thing, but I found the DJI version of it for a lot cheaper. Seems to be the same lens and works great on my G85. I wonder if it will still work fine on the G9ii.
Would love to see this compared to the Olympus 17mm 1.2

Awesome Peter! If you get to test a GH7, give it a shot, I'd love to see what you think. For a first test, it did great. :)

Thanks, Ken! I need to check out that 30mm one as well. Thanks again and I hope you're well.
The MAGIC combo - this lens makes m43 look like full frame - and give syou better macro!

Thanks! No problems at all :)
Great video, great lens. Best regards, Kai the bee filmer. 😃
Many thanks!
Love this lens; glad to see you cover it.
When you shoot aperture priority mode outside, do you set a manual ISO, or do you generally set ISO to Auto?
Thanks Jim! Auto everything except aperture. 😎👍
