I have the Buck tool 1"x 42" with 8" disc & 3/4 HP motor very smooth and quiet. Use it for knives. Very good for Handle shaping. Use Both belt and disc. Love your show

Great comparison! Thanks for sharing your experience with these tools. It's interesting to see how they stack up against each other. Have you tried any other grinder/belt sanders? I'd love to hear your thoughts on those as well. Keep up the great content!

I have the Hercules 8 inch variable speed grinder.. and the central Machinery belt sander with the Disc Sander attached on the side, I use them both a lot, great machines. I use the grinder to sharpen my woodturning gouges.

The HF one has a larger motor but I bought the Bucktool because the backing on the sander is easy to remove making grinding metal easier.

I remember about 30 years ago I used to see a similar type of machine but much larger, had a disc sander instead of grinding wheel, made in Taiwan for maybe $300. I don't see them around anymore though.

I can't really make a comparison here. I mainly do metal work and have both a 6"and 8" bench grinder. The 6" has wire wheels on both ends while the 8" has stones. Several years ago, I bought the Buck Tool 4"x36" belt, 8" disc sander (
