Did you know that there is, or was anyway, a large community of Madeirans in the South American country of Guyana? Back in the 19th century there was an influx of thousands to the British colony of British Guiana to work as indentured workers after slavery was abolished there in the 1830's, smaller amounts also went to Trinidad and Tobago and even some to Jamaica

I visited Madeira many years ago when the Union Castle Liners used to stop off there it certainly has changed and is very beautiful and built up from what I remember. Lovely to see !

Thank you for this beautiful tour of Madeira. My grandmother was born in Funchal and immigrated to Hawaii when she was 13 years old. I may never get to visit Madeira so I savor well produced videos like this.

@@MrManfly you would need to fly to Lisbon or UK than direct flight to Madeira. There is a new flight now available just recent from New York to Madeira but its pricey ! Good luck and you will not regret going
