What a beautiful project! Using the inlays 4 times makes them very economical but also creates depth and interest as they fade with each use. You did a wonderful job of demonstrating this mixed media art form. Your enthusiasm is contagious. Thanks ever so much!
Beautiful! For years I subscribed to Country Living magazine. I loved reading it from cover to cover and I also saved mine. I also saved Flea Market Style. Downsizing to a much smaller house was the motivation I needed to get rid of all of my magazine stash.
Love your artistry Ellen, not only did I learn but thought wouldn’t this be a fun inspiring workshop or sip n paint kind of gathering! Very cool thank you❤️😊
I can relate to saving magazines! I have 10 years of Romantic Homes and Victoria in my stash...I was trying to work up the courage and go thru them to just keep the images I really love because I so love a good mix media project😊
I understand! I was a little leary , too! But I always remember with mixed media, it’s a process, and even the covered up layers represent a part of the journey! Thank you 😊
Waiting with baited breath🤪. Love the video/tutorial. You’ve convinces me to buy the Inlays. I have lots of somerset studio mags. Had over my100 Victoria mags at one time but after so many moves I gave them all away😭. My sons we sick of hauling them for me. Only kept about 25 Country Livings. TFS ONCE AGAIN. Really do like watching and gleaning from your wealth of knowledge and your artist’s heart.
We’re speaking the same language 😂 I didn’t happen to mention the Country Living and Better Homes and Gardens, and all the Knitting magazines 😂 . You will love the inlays. Next week I’m sharing a dresser video using them 😊
Ohmygosh you're always so inspiring! And so talented..absolutely love this piece.( Also like the tip of decopaging the leftover, used inlay scraps!) It's funny I used to keep every Country Living magazine.. saved them..forever. lol! At some point I caved and recycled them.. you sure put yours to wonderful use!!🌸💕💚 Your stories make every tutorial even more interesting!! Thanks, Ellen
Good morning from New Zealand….what a beautiful and meaningful project….found you a couple of weeks ago and have learnt so much….have been a crafter for many years now and it’s funny how your craft ideas change in that time….it’s soon to be a lovely season for new ideas with Christmas just around the corner, somewhat a bit different with COVID….definitely a follower…..keep safe…..
Absolutely beautiful ideas and you inspired me to actually use some IOD in life. It didn't start out as well as I imagined her, but I think my end product did become a beautiful thing. Thanks again for inspiring us all
@@ellenjgoods well Ellen, I'll tell you this. I am publishing my own experience with IOD inlays this weekend on Saturday and I included you as a reference to a better guy for IOD inlays. I hope that's okay with you
Ok, I want to go on a retreat and learn how to create mixed media with you and your dis-organized in an organized way brain. The part of your creative brain that lets you cover a beautiful freshly created square of art with another layer of art which only enhances the first square once it’s melded into a new art block… follow me ?? It’s a matter of loosening that part of me to create the next layer, then the next layer, until you (I) have created a piece of art that speaks to the heart. I have a piece of plywood…… 😘😝. That was amazing to watch Lynne. Thank you and Happy Halloween - enjoy that hometown football rival ! 🎃🎃
Well I think I would love to create with you! I’ve been where you are…. Frozen under my own fear of not being able to create something wonderful. But all of those layers.., even though they are covered up, they represent something. They are hidden, but important. Not hidden because they don’t work. Each layer says something. And trust me… Cheryl, you have much to say ! You can reveal ( or not) all of your layers and each of them means something beautiful. 💓
Oh my, I LOVE everything about this piece of art. So heartfelt. Gives me all the feels. My emotions are all over the place this week. We are building a Barndominium and downsizing on top of that. Trying to figure out what to keep and not to keep. It is so hard. Love your work.
I am not a fan of the whole shabby chic thing, but this project was amazing! You are such a gifted artist and wonderful inspiration! Now I have to go shabby chic something. :)
What a great project. I'm new to this, retiring next year, so purchasing this year while I am making money. 😄 What is the size of your plywood and what is the thickness?

What a beautiful project! Using the inlays 4 times makes them very economical but also creates depth and interest as they fade with each use. You did a wonderful job of demonstrating this mixed media art form. Your enthusiasm is contagious. Thanks ever so much!

I’m not sure… maybe 18 x 24? 1/2” You can really use any size you want
I had EVERY issue of Country Living for about a decade before we moved into our little city home
