    Great tips, thank you! FYI you can make almost anything food safe by spraying or painting on Shellac and curing for 30 days. Shellac is used on a lot of baby toys that toddlers put in their mouth.

    I am so grateful for Pickin' Boots Vintage (Shannon) content regarding IOD, she is thorough and easy to understand. She also demonstrates products that are current and fun. Thank you, Shanon, from Oregon.

    Thank you so much Shannon. I have been using inlays for awhile with different success. This was so comprehensive and the oil based sealer will be a massive break through 🧡🧡🧡

    I love that you test out products and ways to use the inlays and then share the results with us. You do amazing things with all of the iod products, but my absolute favorites are the inlays and transfers you apply to furniture - the couches specifically! Just beautiful work!! I do see other diy-ers using the inlays and explaining the process which is also very helpful, but when I hear someone mentioning things u can't do with them, or products u can't use with them I always find myself thinking "that's not what Shannon said!" Or "No sir, that's wrong, u need to watch Shannon from Pickin' Boots' do it!!!" because I saw your video about it!! (Especially the clear coat method because most people dont know they can do that since the inlays are such a new product.) I need to start linking your videos in the comments!!! Anyway, I just wanted to thank u for sharing your experience with us!!!

    Beautiful! I think if when you put on your clear coat go WITH the grain & not against the grain, it would not create the wrinkles.

      Hi Judy! It can seem intimidating, I would suggest trying a small piece first to get the feel of it. It's not as hard or scary as it seems though! You will love it😍🙌

      Nooo! So at 13 minutes she says that she used a water based sealer, she tried a solvent based on the small piece but it did not work at all😟 I'm glad you asked before trying though!!🤗❤️

    Makes complete sense hearing it! It’s like Alcohol based markers don’t go with solvent ink!!!!! Does Shellac work? Is it solvent based???

      Hi Lyn! While I can't promise 100% protection from the elements, I'll link a UV sealer for you. Any UV sealer should work well though😊 www.amazon.com/Krylon-K01305-Coatings-11-Ounce-UV-Resistant/dp/B00397STRW/ref=asc_df_B00397STRW/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=198077767340&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=16091649544796978983&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9032476&hvtargid=pla-350656820841&psc=1

    What solvent based lacquer was used that didn’t smear the inlay?

  • @mariettamakery6260
    @mariettamakery6260 4 месяца назад

    I've always used a water-based so when you say "solvent based" are you speaking of oil based.. like a polyurethane? And to clarify... solvent based sealers do not work to transfer the inlay but it does work to seal the inlay (which has been applied using a water based clear seal). THANKS!

    • @IronOrchidDesigns
      @IronOrchidDesigns  4 месяца назад +1

      Yes!! Water based to transfer the inlay, oil/solvent based to seal the inlay. We have also sealed our inlays with general finishes flat on flat, which is a water based, and it works beautifully 🙌🥰❤️
