Thanks so much for the post. This ain't the original version but it's still excellent. Looked for this stuff in vain for years after losing all vinyl to a g.f vengeance. Aaah! found it further on in. Cheers.
Heeeeeyy!! Thanks man, but here all merit is Taj Mahal, I am just a filter. And the truth is I did it so fast with the Wmoviemaker that some of the pics were left sort of hanging at the end! haha! So there is one minute of total silence... But the song is sooo good... it deserves a minute of silence, whoo ha Again I thank You for that perfect perfect atmosphere, I've been and forever will be coming back to that vid of yours, portrait of the extatic mind... WGA removes 2 out of 3 vids I upload
THIS IS AN OLD SONG FROM THE BRITISH ISLES ABOUT A GYPSY FELLA AND A YOUNG WIFE WHO FANCIES A BIT OF ROUGH,, AND ,,NOT,, ABOUT A BLACK MAN ,, GYPSIES FIND IT OFFENCIVE AND RIGHTFULLY SO,, THIS CLOWN HAS TURNED IT INTO JUNGLE MUSIC,, ,, ,, ,, ,, ,,

It's not a Gypsy song. It's an English song about a Gypsy. What do you think about the versions by Fairport Convention, Incredible String Band, Appalachian guitarists? Songs are fluid, lighten up. Careful, your prejudice is showing.........................
I agree with most of what you say. I've only ever heard the Velvet Opera version & this is the Biggest load of CRAP I think I've ever heard {I'm 75 and been listening to music a long, long time.}
We hope to catch a show soon. Perhaps in the Caribbean
This version of the song made me go out and buy this album
Me too, such a great album!
Nice, Mo' Roots (1974) is such a great record.

Love this cover, tis my favorite version, though the one from "Hanapepe Dream" is even better.

Lol, go play with a crystal ball or something. Everybody knows what this song is about or at least alluding to in its lyrics. Deal with it.
Imagine calling one of the great mainstays of Soul and Blues a clown. You are the only clown here, sir.
