You’re half right. The moon (Luna) is a planet indeed! But it’s also a moon since it orbits Earth. The barycenter is inside the Earth, so Luna orbits it. It’s a planet and its moon. Meanwhile, the barycenter for Pluto and Charon is completely outside Pluto and lies between both bodies. So Charon orbits Pluto AND Pluto orbits Charon, making it a double planet system. I think I've heard 25 years for most of the furthest ones out like Sedna and Gonggong. I couldn't find anything on the distant object Farfarout, which hasn't been given Dwarf planet status.
Yes, I agree a dwarf planet is a planet. I mean who gives them the right to demote Pluto from being planet to a dwarf planet, that 's not fair for Pluto and other "dwarf "planets
Why aren't the Centaurs viewed as Dwarf planets. If they can't be cleared and are in their own solar orbits or Lagrange placement orbits. But hold their own spherical shape. Doesn't it say the dwarf planet definition.
Probably because they do not have a mass large enough to generate a magnetic field which is a characteristic of a planet. Mercury barely qualifies for this with it producing an extremely weak but measurable field.
not big enough i think. the smallest on the list is the Goblin it can't be a dwarf planet with 200km diameter so jump to the 2nd: 2002 MS4 it's ~800km. The largest centaur is Chariklo 302km. So i don't think we will have dwarf planets the size of 300km. Then they could add also Varda, Ixion, Varuna, Chaos, Hayu and the unnamed ones. So we would have around 30 dwarf planets and it's a little too much with this knowledge of them. The current minimum is around 800km i guess but that's not good either i think 500km should be the minimum and we would have around 20 dwarf planets a little better.
When you said "Ceres is the only dwarf planet that"....? I could not, not even after turning the volume up and listening again and again, understand what you were saying. Sorry.
