    The narrator John Shrapnel's voice is so appropriate for such documentaries. I thoroughly enjoy listening to him as much as the imagery. He's the most eloquent of the narrators. A beautiful, engaging voice that captures viewers' attention.

    It was sad to see the hardship experienced by wildlife during periods of drought. As this was seasonal, the Government should continue their project of the provision of water especially where it was known to be effective and required for the sustainability of their people and serves to be crucial to the survival of wildlife.

    This was sooo good- except for when the nasty hippo killed the wee newborn- wth- from your own pod AND by another female, how vicious, my god...🤯😱😢 And also the big beautiful male lion with the severed spine, how could that monster leave him to suffer in such pain??- NO EXCUSE!! 😠 It is so sad the humans that did try to help him, in the end could only help him end his pain. 😔 Such s sad loss. It must have been hard for them too, to do. 😟
    It is so incredibly vicious out there for wild Animals. I sure hope my cat appreciates how easy he has it! 🙀 Seriously, such beautiful footage with some harsh truths. But an appreciated bit of education. Stunning. Thank you for sharing, l've watched it twice in the last week!!

    We actually visited the salt pans in May 2016, and it was soooo cold as we set off @ 5.00am in the morning hoping to see the lions at Chobe Safari later on.
    The entire place was so arid. We barely saw many animals except the usual outcast boar, being deprived of its herd due to bad behaviour. :- ))
    Our guide informed us we would have seen more if we arrived in August, with the flamingos et al.

    This *"documentary is old."* Water is no longer an issue but the video is interesting. *2021 Update:* Once covered by the vast Lake Makgadikgadi, the Okavango Delta is now a seasonal wetland. . With the influx of 2.5 trillion gallons of water, the Okavango Delta-a permanent swamp surrounded by one of the continent’s driest expanses-doubles in size. Fueled by the promise of a fertile floodplain, some 200,000 large mammals return to the delta, now an oasis roughly half the size of Massachusetts. As the country emerges from decades of civil war, more than 50 large-scale water infrastructure projects are under consideration, including dams for hydropower, commercial irrigation works and municipal water storage.

      Well male Lions Do the most important job they protect the Territory and patrol for weeks so that other intruders will not come But here is the fact that a male lion Dont lose anything without females as All the male lions when they are bachelors For 2 to 3 years they themselves hunt the prey and even one lion can alone bring down a bull or cow as there one example the infamous Lion of Manyeleti Reserve hunt down alone a bull
      So when a lion coalition mates with pride of lionesses By that they have become excellent hunters and most of them bring down even Giraffes etc like in case of the mopogos coalition
      So if male lion loses a lioness or is banished from his Pride By rivals lions and beaten then in exile he can survive and hunt and But the female cannot live without a Lion either she will have to surrender for mating or be in exile and die and most importantly her cubs will me brutally murdered
      So I will say Lions the are the real heroes who all their life protects their families and most of them die doing that rather then giving up or surrendering Unlike the females that joins the rival pride

    • @nicolec4744
      @nicolec4744 5 лет назад +6

      @@fury2613 males are bigger and stronger, but not smarter. They are all smart, gender has absolutely nothing to do with intelligence. The females are clearly highly intelligent, they have to be to survive. Look at how they hunt!

    • @nicolec4744
      @nicolec4744 5 лет назад +5

      @@jalalkhan-fp4uv They all have roles to play, and they all have better chances of survival if they are in a pride with both females and a dominant male. Males are strong and do A LOT to protect their families. They keep constant watch over their pride, fight off threats, protect the cubs while the females are hunting, and sometimes they hunt with the females. They can absolutely fend for themselves should they be exiled. They can't run as fast or as long as the females, but they can hunt for themselves. Females can do just fine on their own as well. They do not NEED a male to survive, that's just ignorant. I've seen many documentaries that followed groups of just females and their offspring and they did just fine. I've seen females kick the holy shit out of male lions to protect her cubs and herself. Don't underestimate a mother's strength and devotion to her offspring. Or her intelligence. Or her own will to survive.

    The largest land dwelling great migration herds of zebras and wildebeests can be found only in 6 protective game reserves and national parks of the subsaharian Africa like in Ngorongoro Crater & Serengeti National Park in Tanzania, Masai Mara Game Reserve in Kenya, Nxai Pan National Park & Makadigadi National Park in Botswana and Kafue National Park in Zambia.

    It really makes me angry 😠 when the male lion, who is too lazy to help with the hunt, but once the lioness make a kill he's right there to take it & eat it all. Grrr. What if his lioness become too weak to hunt?

      @TimoCruz177 5 лет назад +25

      the males are the protectors of the pride. most of the time if a pride doesn't have a male lion to protect them, they will starve and just get killed by other lions and lionesses

      Lou Prinkey they know how to hunt, but scavenging is primary as not all hunts are successful. It’s how it goes

      male lions usually don't have because of their large size and manes they can easily be seen by the prey. They do hunt though

    Great documentary which I was lucky to see a few years ago is there any other video on the lion of Etosha?

    • @williamcarr1303
      @williamcarr1303 3 года назад +1

      Yes. One such documentary is called "Lions of Etosha", and it is also available on the same channel as the video we are commenting on.
      This version was originally broadcast on Survival Anglia, and is narrated by Andrew Sachs.
      Here's a link: ruclips.net/video/KJjIXnJ1xpU/видео.html
      Also, there's a rare version of "Lions of Etosha" narrated by James Earl Jones. It can be found on VHS - Kodak's "Sierra Club Series."

    Predators Vs Prey is not what this video is about. Its a nature documentary on the water supply and how it effects the wild life, there is literally 1 predation.

    My God. Americans need to stop complaining. Really. Absolutely heartbreaking. These very good men who are helping the hippos and cow and calf get out of the well. God bless them. Please.

    I have seen hippos do that to their own and young before. I couldnt believe how vicious they were. Especially if its just another baby in the pod & not theirs. I saw them do it to a gazelle too n shake it like a dog. It was so bizarre and horrible. But I understand why they do it because they dont have enough resources for a bigger pod. However Hippos are extremely dangerous and scary and they just dont care. I actually had a feeling that was gunna happen. I was hoping to not see it ugh i put my hand in front of the screen. The babies goes up to them trusting and loving them thinking they will do the same. Uhh..

    I just enjoy watch these documentaries whether it's due to Corona or no
    The way life is going now, we are on the verge of same actions. Fighting for food and water to survive. We may as well learn our lessons from the wild life.
