Very great demonstrations and overview of the lights. I like the 80SL due to the fact you can remove the battery and charge it separate from the light .
astro i love all there tools and have a bunch of them I have the same light as well the older one . there newest light is out and it is cordless charing
Harbor freight has a similar light with a flexible head that is rechargeable and has a magnetic base on sale now for $19.99. I have on and thinking about getting a second one.
I actually think the battery is okay, but I dropped the light a lot. It probably has a broken connection inside. You can leave the charger plugged in, it has a feature that will stop it - so you don’t over charge it.
The old one lasted almost 3 years. Over that time, I was not at all easy on that flashlight. So I am still impressed by how durable it is and despite some of its design shortcomings I really liked using it. This new flashlight is an improvement on an overall decent design. Other brands may also work, but I like the Astros I have.

@@ToolDemos Anytime Steve!

Right on! I made that video 3 years ago, still using the same light.
thanks for the great detailed review Steve, much appreciated !
Certainly! Thanks for watching.
It’s very easy to get a replacement battery for the 40sl it’s just an 18650 battery 3350mah
Good info, thanks.
Thanks for the review.
My pleasure, Ahmed. Thanks for watching.

That cordless charging is a cool feature.

Sounds like a pretty good deal. Thanks Rudolph.
why the battery go bad? should you leave on charger or take off when full?

I'm waiting for the 72SL
Yeah, better battery and USB C.
@@ToolDemos next week should receive it. Hope they are as good as the older ones.
I'm a little confused. Seems the old light was so poorly designed, you might have tried another brand when it failed.
How long did the old one last?

Does this have a USB-C connector to charge it?
It comes with a charge cable, it’s micro USB.
65sl is usb-c not micro
Have to see for myself

I wish these were replaceable 18650 or something.
That would be nice.
@@ToolDemos Ordered a 65SL for periodic use, I'm sure it'll last a while but usually I despise non-replaceable built on batteries. Good reviews BTW
@@therodenthitman we both know why those batteries aren’t replaceable. Thanks.
Oh come on , a mechanic cant replace a 18650 li ion battery?
Can’t argue with you there, I guess I just wanted the new shiny thing.
Way tooo expensive.
