@@pauljames7333 Was about to comment that myself, the 80s fashion really didn't do them (or anyone really) any favor in terms of looking like their age 😂
Fun facts: Elisabeth Andreasson lost one ear ring just before going up on stage, sp they were looking for it in the baxk. They were late, that's why they ran in. In fact she "created" a new fashion in Norway with that, because after Eurovision, "everyone" should wear one ear ring then!
As a Norwegian I absolutely LOVE this song and I think it’s so much fun that we somehow won w a song in Norwegian❤ I’ve met Hanne (the one in the skirt) because she sang with the choir I’m a part of for a christmas ‘show’ and she is an absolute sweetheart:)
I watched this back in 1985 at the age of 8 and just LOVED it! And when you won, my mother told me: "This is very unusual, Norway usually NEVER wins!" LOL Today I still love it, it is my favourite of all the ESC winners. Love from Denmark
In 1985, Norway had already finished last in Eurovision 6 times. Still, they kept producing quirky, weird songs like this and finally it just works. This song proves that you can beat your head against the same wall for years, and still make it in the end. Much love to Norway! Well deserved win.
I was spending this night a friend's house, because my parents were away. When I woke up, I had to ask my friends parents if I had dreamt, or had Norway finally won the ESC??
You can try to imagine how Finland felt when they won ... got more points that one time than in the entire history of the Eurovision Song Contest COMBINED up to that point!!
My grandmother watched the song part and went to bed. My grandfather watched it to the end. When he went to bed she woke up and asked him: who won? Norway he said. "Stop kidding me now... tell me who won?" IT WAS NORWAY... When the News papers came out on Sunday she finally believed him, though....
I'd have given them 12 points just for not tripping in the steps or slipping down the ramp as they came running in... Love their performance - they clearly enoyed every minute!
Brilliant song by Norway and totally deserved to win. Shame that countries don't sing in their own languages anymore, preferring instead some kind of fake Beyoncé-accented English.
I agree and I loved it when they got the award at the end of the show and the presenter said you really deserve it as you never win. It still makes me burst out laughing when I hear that bit. 😂
This moment changed my life. I was actually asleep when they won, but I have liked them ever since. Elisabeth Andreassen got married to her husband at the church in the town I grew up as she was having concerts there that summer and liked the church. Unfortunately her husband died a few years ago. Hanne (with skirt) have been famous in Norway since she was playing Sonja in the Norwegian Christmas classic movie when she was 16. This movie is aired on Christmas every year and have been for over 40 years. Hannes daughter played Sonja in a theather version of the movie last year. Growing up she didn't know it was her mum that played Sonja in the film, and she ones told her mother that the girl in the movie reminded of her. Her mother didn't really give her any answer so she didn't know until a few years later when she saw her name on the role listing as she then could read. Hanne didn't want her daughter to be influenced by her mother being famous and I had never seen her until last year as she wasn't promoted so much in media and her family have been a long kept secret except for an intewiev in 1985 when she was interwieved about her husband that she married in 1979. She also have a son that is older than her daughter.
These two girls were described as a "couple" (of colleagues) in the British TV commentary and all this time I just assumed that they were romantically a couple too. Oh gee. I'm rather disappointed now!
@karmasdoor I haven't met them yet, but they're still very much alive. Elisabeth a.k.a Bettan was perticipating in the latest season of "Hver gang vi møtes jubileum" just a few days ago, it was taped this summer, and Hanne and her daughter was leading a fundraiser show for the Norwegian Salvation army just a few days ago, and Hanne will also be onscreen tomorrow as her younger self in "Reisen til julestjernen" (The journey to the Christmas star directly translated) as this film is sent on NRK1 every year on Chrismas eve morning and has pretty much been since the film was sent for the first time in 1975 or so, it has been there all my life, and I was born in 1976. Bobbysocks don't exist as a band anymore, and hasn't been for 2 decades or so. Both are still singing though.
@karmasdoor Hanne Krogh is now in this season of "Hver gang vi møtes" whitch translates to "everytime we meet" that is a Norwegian show where old and younger singing artists meet on a farm in Norway to share some old memories and stories and to cover one song from each of the other artists. This show is very popular here in Norway and this is season 11 so it has been on for some years now. This show let us in on some of their private experiences and the real stories behind the headlines in the newspapers. Some of the newspaper headlines was not right at all. It's a very good show, but I have to have my tissue paper in hand as it always make me cry and that is why I call it "everytime we cry" instead. The title of the program actually is a song title from another popular artist in Norway called Halvdan Sivertsen. It's on Norwegian tv 2.
I always find it so funny how it sounds when they sing. It sounds like English but funny. ;) And the song is happy. A very big Waterloo inspired song. Same intro, same rhythm, both rock and roll.
I wasn't even born but this is like one of my favorite songs ever, just because....look at them...insecure at first but when they hit that first high note together, the chemistry....and just like that, they owned Europe ❤️✌🏻

I remember that was the last Eurovision Song Contest I saw for ages because next year i would leave for the compulsory service in my country then went to work and on saturday nights I always was outside so no longer TV. I didn't like the song presented by my country (it was about Albano & Romina...) so I hoped in the Swedish Kikki Danielsson and the Norwegian duo. I was lucky :)

I just love that for one year everyone’s crazy, drunk aunts at a wedding got to win Eurovision.

The crazy addition to this is that they were both actually in their 20’s during this performance. Yes, really! 😆
