      kt1pl2 I'm glad I could help. Now give yourself a pat on the back for being persistent and getting out there and finding a solution! That's half the battle right there.

    Excellent teaching tutorial. I know this, but still learned more. Reading knitting instructions reminds me so much of an Algebra problem.

    OMG... lol I am so happy I learned to crochet many years ago because seeing this now. I would have given up at 3 minutes. It's a bit confusing but I will watch this over and again I am sure. I am wanting to cable stitch a beanies and scarf to see how I handle this. I am new to knitting. Only 3 days in but I been crocheting for more than 20 years. Thanks you!!!

      Hi MrsBree78, it can be a difficult transition moving from one needle art to the other but don't give up! Each one has better uses for certain things so it's nice to do both. If I can help in any way feel free to email me. I'm going to try and be sneaky and tell u my email address so that the spammer bots can't get it. You might be able to get it thru google+ but I know absolutely zero about that so I'm sure it would be a big fail if I tried to explain that. Anyway the first part of my email address is the name of this RUclips channel without the apostrophes and then the last part is @gmail.com. So if you need help, just email. That is a much more trustworthy method. RUclips seems to not send out notices on all the comments.

      I thank you very much. I really appreciate that. I will definitely keep that in mind.I know I will be in need of help. BTW...is there a site I can get a pdf of the stitchtionary for most stitches and the variations of how they are charted? Thanks again.

    Dec 1 st at each end of next and 3 [2: 2: 1] foll 4th rows, then
    on every foll alt row until 17 [19: 21: 23] sts rem.
    How do I interpret this?

    i have been looking at this one pattern for a blanket (www.favecrafts.com/Knit-Afghans/Simple-Chunky-Blanket-from-Bernat) and i could not for the life of me grasp how to read the pattern. You explained it very well and I think I can attempt to tackle it ^^
    but at the end of this pattern it says
    "Rep last 24 rows for Stairs pat until work from beg measures approx 52 ins"
    What does the stairs pat mean?

    • @LetsKnitYall
      @LetsKnitYall  10 лет назад

      Hello Anna kim, again I apologize for not responding. I wasn't notified of your comment. Given that you wrote 4 months ago :/ I hope that you have been able to knit your afghan and move on to something else. If by chance you haven't then here's your answer: it could read like this and be just as clear "Rep last 24 rows until work from beg measures approx 52 ins". I guess to make it short(ish) and sweet, I'm saying to just ignore the "stairs pat" reference and just repeat the last 24 rows until it measures 52". What the reference to the stairs pat actually means is repeat the last 24 rows over and over to continue to form the stairs pattern that has been forming in the previous rows. I hope that makes sense. If not just let me know.

    what's the meaning of dec 1st at neck edge in every row. means Rs and Ws both side I should reduce one sticj

    • @LetsKnitYall
      @LetsKnitYall  4 года назад

      It certainly sounds like that's what they are saying. I do find that odd which I believe you do as well.
      If your pattern gives you any stitch counts at the end of your decreases you can do some math. Fun fun! Sounds like you're decreasing 1 st per row so if you know how many rows you're working you'll be losing that same number in stitches. Pattern writers don't appreciate stitch counts like they should. It helps keep knitters on track.

    This is great but I'm a true beginner. I don't know what a stitch or a pearl or a loop is lol. Do you have any videos that show you working with yarn to show how to do those actions?

    • @LetsKnitYall
      @LetsKnitYall  7 лет назад +1

      You can find all my videos here: ruclips.net/user/LetsKnitYallvideos. I'm pretty sure that won't come up as a clickable link so you can click on Let's Knit Y'all right under the title of the video above (on a pc). Start with casting on, then move to knit, then purl. Good luck!

    I have a very old Coats and Clark pattern that has the following: 3rd to 7th rows incl: Knit each row. What does the incl mean? You have helped me before, hope you can again.

    • @LetsKnitYall
      @LetsKnitYall  8 лет назад +1

      Incl would be short for including. So I would take that to mean including the 7th row.

    If the instructions say as follows: cast on 100 sts. 1st to 200th rows incl: Sl 1, k across; does that mean to Sl on each row?

    • @tm2bee
      @tm2bee 8 лет назад +1

      Yes, you will slip 1 st then knit across the row and do that for rows 1 thru 200. The slipped st at the beginning of each row will give you a nice edge.

If not here is the page that I pulled my info from: www.craftyarncouncil.com/knit.html Remember that abbreviations can and will vary from different sources. If you need any help, just email me. How do I do this instruction: 45 stitches cast on: K1 (P1, K1) twice, (P1, K4) across to last 5 stitches K1 (P1, K1) twice. I'm confused because if I follow the K1 (P1, K1) and do that twice, I need 6 stitches left on the needle; and if I only do the ( ) twice, then only 4 stitches are used and there's one remaining. ???

    • @LetsKnitYall
      @LetsKnitYall  5 лет назад +1

      Catherine Cooper you will k1, then work what is in the parentheses twice using a total of 5 sts (4 within the parentheses plus the first k1). The end will work with the same idea.

    when instruction is from * to *, then first 3 k, 2p and then * starts. so 3k and 2p also have to repeat? I have not understood

    • @LetsKnitYall
      @LetsKnitYall  4 года назад

      It all depends on where the first * is. From you question I believe you are saying that the instructions read 3k, 2p, * xxxxxxxxxx* repeat from * to *. If this is true then the 3k 2p would NOT be included in the repeat from * to *.
      It would only be included if it read * 3k, 2p, xxxxxxxxxx *, repeat from * to *.
      Let me know if this didn't help and I'll try again. Also refer back to around the 8 minute mark in the video. I very briefly touch on * to *.

    Thank you for explaining 👍👌😊 I have a Question.It says Kfb and I did that,then k 10? Does k 10 mean,to add 10? 😳🤔

    • @LetsKnitYall
      @LetsKnitYall  4 года назад

      No. K10 would just mean knit the next 10 sts as if the Kfb wasn't there. Kfb is an increase of one st so you'd be adding an additional 10 sts.

    how can this knitting instruction be read. *(P 2 tog) 2 times, invisible increase (inc), (k 1, inc). what I don't understand is the invisible increase. Please help

    • @LetsKnitYall
      @LetsKnitYall  8 лет назад +1

      If these instructions are within an actual printed book, you should find a definition somewhere within the book. If they are from an online pattern, it should be there also but more often than not it won't be. I'm assuming since you're asking me neither of these things are true. I don't have a video for one but if you follow this link I believe it will serve the purpose. techknitting.blogspot.com/2007/05/very-nearly-invisible-increase.html?m=1

    What does (k2 p2)×0 times mean

    • @LetsKnitYall
      @LetsKnitYall  4 года назад +1

      If the 0 times is correct then you should basically just skip it as if it weren't there. Since I don't have the rest of the instructions, it's not clear to me why it's even included in the instructions. I'm sure you'll be able to figure that out.

    m not v good english speaker im working on apattern in english one phrase i can't understand what exactly it mean in knitting pattern can u explain it for me in simpel way
    Work a further 4 rows Work a further 9 rows

    • @LetsKnitYall
      @LetsKnitYall  8 лет назад

      In this case, "further" could also translate to "more" or "additional".
      Work 4 more rows.
      Or
      Work 4 additional rows.
      I hope that makes it clearer for you.
