- I'm really sorry I haven't uploaded in so long, I just moved to a new country so I was busy adjusting to school life and assignments. I'll upload more often now that it's winter break. I don't know if I'll make pt 3 of this series or the mha civilians one, but I'll be uploading something that's more fun for me to make first. I'll still be making reaction videos but I do wanna make something with My own ocs or some memes and such. I hope you'll still watch even if they aren't reaction videos.

Giyuu, for me, really represents mental illness. Everyone in demon slayer are in some way traumatized but Giyuu definitely seems to struggle mentally. He was deemed mentally ill when he was young due to him telling everyone a demon killed his sister but I don't think it was the only reason. He seems to have depression, an inferiority complex, and survivors guilt. I don't think he was suicidal though, maybe at one point after his sister was killed but not after he had his talk with Sabito. Sabito really instilled the want to live in Giyuu because then his sisters sacrifice would have been for nothing. Even after that I'm sure Giyuu remembered that and took it personally that he couldn't die, not after their sacrifices. I really do believe thats one of the reasons why he survived long enough to become to water hashira.
I agree however I still think he has some level of suicidal-ness like if something happened and he died he would be somewhat happy and/or releaved, and if more people died in his place again he'd rather be the one dying and would likely develop those tendencies again./ Then again I'd just literally be explaining survivors guilt, it's thinking everythings your fault to some degree and/or wishing you'd died in their place so everyone would be better off and happier. Which is, usually a suicidal way of thinking(? This makes no sense but I don't know how to phrase it better) and is also demonstaited in giyuu very clearly thought the manga. (sry if I'm bad at explaining this I'm super tired rn, dyslexic asf, and english isn't really my first language. Like pick a struggle damn-)

Basically wishing your death or trying to make your death happen are both being suicidal it's just a different type/level of it.
@kyojuro.13 Based on what I remember from my boring ahh class it's called passive suicidal ideation (Sry I don't think I spelt it right idk) And me personally I really don't think your description fits him well or at least most parts of it? I mean kinda but at the same time no. His job is being a demon slayer and he isn't planning on just giving up completely in the middle of a fight. That's my personal op at least based on his whole "survive for them" character arc. I think he would hate himself more if he was to throw away their efforts, and it would likely make him feel even more like a falure because he couldn't validate their death in his eyes if he was to do that.
Now would I be able to imagine a universe were he gets tired of going on, misses his lost ones and offs himself, yes. And honestly I think it would be fairly in line with his character.
Sry if I'm getting all character analisis on you I tend to do this about everything.

Giyuu is my fav hashira,, but he didnt had the most traumatised past . Sanemi literally needed to kill his own mom,, obanai was tortured and Uzui needed to kill his siblings
