This is amazing. Obviously you could've blown these kids out of the water, but you used this as a way to be a coach on the course. As he passed each group, he was coaching them up on their specific position in the race. When he reaches the front, with Isaac, there's no doubt he could've darted straight past him, but instead, Nick decides he will push him and really coach him up. Great role model.

      @@ProGamer-dg7dy km splits were 3:39 (3:39) | 3:33 (7:12)
4:05 (11:17). Overall, this was 3:46/km (6:03/mile), sub-19 5k pace. I think the kids were excited to be running with Nick, maybe had the idea that Nick would "sit and kick" in their heads and wanted to run the kick out of him. He's definitely talented at 13. Just went out a little bit hard is all, common with youth and inexperience. At the age of 13 you aren't going to have all the years of aerobic development that long-time distance runners have, nor the experience with pacing. With better pacing discipline which comes with experience, I think the kid is capable of holding this pace for 5k, would do sub-20 easily. Remember that most kids this age struggle to hold this pace for even one mile.

After listening to Nick's Strategy, I think being in that 170 range would have been good for me to have a good final 1000m. I miss cross country and the people that commit to it.

I am a boy and when I was a freshman in high school and was on the Cross Country team I was not able to run anywhere close to a 6:47 mile for that entire season but during Track & Field season my 1600m time got down to a 6:45, which is 9 meters short of a mile.
