    Even when I was 11 or 12 I always listened to his radio show every week on the BBC. I used to be the only one at home that did that. I think it could have been on Saturdays, but I may be mistaken, my memory isnt that good now. Then of course there was his TV show we always watched as a family and hearing the film crew laughing in the background was kind of ground-breaking. Nobody had ever done that before, it was almost a shock to hear it at first. It was always the stars of the show would be heard and you wouldn't hear a sound out of the crew, or you'd have to do another take. I just loved his style of comedy, it was so mad, it was what made it brilliant and I loved that. His style of comedy is much funnier then most comedians today and he was such a lovely guy too. I would put him on a par with Spike Milligan. I would have loved to have had him around still today, but he just died way too young. RIP Kenny. 😭

    Yes I agree the signs of his illness are beginning to show. Kenny was a 'one off' in comedic terms, the man was simply a genius. There are very few if any comics these days that are half as good as he was. He was a genuinely nice person too.,

    Des O'Connor Tonight was a fantastic show on ITV - it always aired mid week, when there would be a lull in programmes, and the weekend was still far off, this was a perfect pick me up show for mid week, and now in 2019/2020 what do we have on Wednesdays ITV - Coronation Street and Emmerdale ...... That's nice.

    You know when people ask, if you could host a dinner party with 5 guests who are no longer with us.....who would you pick?
    Kenny has always been my number 1.
    I was a child when was at the height of his fame, but I used to catch his shows as a sneaked on to the top of the steps and watched it from my vantage point as my parents went about their business downstairs, completely unaware.
    Kenny was an absolute genius. So funny and so interesting. He went far far too soon.

      Amaan Storm Check out the radio programme “Dream dinner party” on BBC Radio 4. It’s exactly the concept you mention. Kenny was included in this episode. It’s not a real dinner party of course but the programme is brilliantly made. www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m0008h3n. All the episodes are worth listening to.

    Such a rib achingly funny man. The KE Show always had me gasping for breath. Cupid Stunt, Gizzard Puke, Syd Snot, Marcel, Kaptain Kremmin et al. Seeing Thelma Barlow at the end there reminds me of her role as Dolly in Victoria Wood's unmatched 'Dinnerladies'. Another genius of comedy who left us way too young, like Kenny did.

    Typical Kenny, comes on for 6 minutes and steals the show with his unique storytelling and ability to see the absurd in life. A man who often got the rough end of the press but who his fans miss even 28 years after his passing . A unique guy who left us way too early.

    I was not contradicting myself at all. I was merely pointing out the right of others to express their opinions, yourself included. I suggested you learnt to be tolerant of the opinions of others. I did not say you had no right to express your own opinions.

    • @CycolacFan

      Ken didn't need drugs to be really funny, Robin sadly did.

    • @andrewphippsphillips1455
      @andrewphippsphillips1455 4 года назад

      Difficult to compare, they had vague similarities, but Robin was more of a machine gun and a lot of his act was thriving on riding his nervousness. Kenny's insecurity was covered more by the taking of risks (the infamous Let's Bomb Russia moment) some of which paid off. I've done similar, said something which has shocked everyone but I always went to the person afterwards, then explained that it was for effect.
      I loved them both because they had their unique traits that nobody could imitate nowadays because it would look shite and clichéd. I'm glad I grew up with Ken and discovered you never truly had to stop being childish altogether.
