Thanks for this and your recent videos. I have a 917-575144 Sears/Simpson machine with Speed Reducer and reverser. My speed changer doesn't seem to operate correctly or at all, but it plows just fine. I have Cultivator with the crank slower crank adjustment but only find it slow if I am wanting to extend the cultivator wheels down to allow the machine to travel across the lawn without plowing. I have the disc and the turning plow. My dream is to one day find either planter for the machine but that's a pipe dream that won't happen. I do hope to find a spike tooth harrow one day. Thanks to you and all others who post these helpful videos.
you have answered so many questions for me, i scored 4 of these David Bradley's. one had the blue rims and painted yellow/gold and had a homemade pull behind plow
Thanks, This tractor has since been completely rebuilt and painted. I've also added a set of wheel weights.Hopefully I'll soon get another video posted of it working the garden.
I have a super 575 made 1959. I have the paper work that came with the tractor. I also have the lawn mower that came with the tractor. I use it to plow out potatoes, it does a supper job. I needed to clean the points and I was looking for the point setting and was looking at the videos of the db. It is just like it was when it was made except for the rust.
I've got almost exactly the same machine as yours including Harbor Freight engine instead of the original one. The question is: how is your engine connected to the throttle? My is disconnected, so you just adjust the throttle on the engine itself at max. The problem is that the machine likes to jump when you engage the clutch.
Could you show how the speed changer works? I just got my clutch disassembled today and I'm trying to do a full restore.but haven't understood how the speed changer works.
What was the Last one built , and the highest HP put out in one < , Can the speed changer be added to any of the DB Tractors or even the reverse added ? , I have a nice one but with out any data on what model it is
I enjoyed your video. Have you had occasion to work on restoring a 917.575100 tractor I.e. cleaning the wheel hubs and repackage them with grease;and/or rebuilding the clutch. Do you know the drive belt number as I need to get one?
If you ever want to sell that reply to this message. I have a perfect Briggs Model 14 engine from a 1955 "Big Five" Bradley to go on there. I put the predator engine on my '55 because half the speed changer parts & reverse parts were gone. Only had reversing hubs left & ball clutch was shot (lost balls), put a regular '46-50 spring clutch on it from another machine. I have other 1940's machines working with attachments. Let me know!
Also i can't find a drive pulley I don't know what size to get to put on the motor I've been searching for about a week now any help would be greatly appreciated
I have a 575 David Bradley tractor and some attachments. The problem is I need to readjust the clutch or replace the disc. Do you know anyone that could give me some help. I'm 81 and want to get it back to where I can use it again. Thank you, just seeing that tractor of yours gave me flashbacks....
As for the original motors, unless you are building a show tractor, I think a modern motor is best for a work tractor. Fix up he old motor and put it on the tractor when take it to a tractor show. You don't know how lucky you are to have a tractor with reverse .
Yeah, these were the best models. Variable speed and locking differential too. The one in this video has since been painted. I have another with its original engine. Of the three I have the one in this video is my main worker.

The tires on my say 6.00-16, so they are 16 inches, I assume, but the model number is the same.

do not have a oicture but I put a step behind the disc/bolt on to make the disc bite better

Search youtube for David bradley clutch adjustment. A gentleman named Billy Watson has A good video for that.
So what handle does what? And how can you tell if it's a 575?

Where can I get reverse parts to add reverse to my DB
George Collins any luck on getting reverse parts?
Did you have any luck on finding a supplier of reverse parts and if so from where. Thanks
I have two of those with a lot of the instruments that goes with them if anybody is interesting please get a hold of me
DO YOU HAVE A SICKLE MOWER FOR SALE?
i have a two wheel tractor and the one i have is bigger than his and it has no reverse
How did you mount the engine?
That model has spacers welded to the engine plate. I cut those off and mounted it using the existing holes in the plate.
Thank you sir
Is it even possible to kill these things?
No, not much. Pretty easy.
