I think that the same thing that Paramount did when they made that image of Shadow that gets shown in the Sonic 2 mid-credits scene happened to this poster's image of Shadow which is that whoever made this image of him did some CGI computer work to copypaste a model of Movie Sonic so it would look a bit more like Shadow. It seems quite obvious that that's what happened, especially because: 1. Both of those hedgehog characters look like they have pretty the same round eye shape in it, when Shadow's eyes are usually shown in a more narrow position and 2. Most fans know that it's cannon in this videogame franchise that Shadow gets shown to be the grumpy doppleganger of Sonic who more often has a frown on his face instead of a smile.
