I love Dimash and I came to know Lara Fabian after hearing him sing Adagio (yes, I know. I've been living under a rock). They have very different interpretations of the song. Lara approached it from a mature artist's perspective, whereas Dimash was only about 23 when he performed it. I agree, he must have felt he needed to pull out all the stops when he appeared in the competition. Having said that, I adore both of them. There can be no comparison. I think the highlight was when he finally got to sing with Lara and another soprano (after Lara congratulated him on a great performance after singing Adagio). My respect for her went through the roof then, considering that some other original artists who's work D covered, hadn't been as warm and encouraging. They sound fantastic together, by the way. You could tell Dimash was a little star-struck when he sang with her, the dear boy ♥ Much love from South Africa. P.S. In Lara's Adagio, there's an underlying warmth that's extremely pleasant to listen to. With Dimash, he tugs at your heartstrings when he's still on the dang piano. As I said, I love both their performances. They're so individual.

Je Suis Malade is a masterpiece of emotions, amazing singing technique, and performance. Absolutely stunning. Thank you for reacting to Lara. She's one of the living legends, and no wonder that Dimash was inspired by her example. Please continue to react to Lara, but always to her LIVE performances as she comes alive at those moments! The interpretation of the song by Dimash is great. He touches my heart and soul ... every time. This song belongs in Lara Fabian's repertoire, a world-famous singer and songwriter. She wrote the lyrics many years ago to this classical baroque melody that cannot be assigned to any particular artist with certainty. Today it is one of the most popular works of “classical music”. The composers Rick Allison, Dave Pickell and Lara Fabian arranged the piece into a pop song.
Lara Fabian is a great role model for Dimash. Even as a child Dimash wanted to be on stage with Igor Krutoy and Lara Fabian one day ... and the dream came true of the 65th birthday of Igor Krutoy in 2019.

It's okay, sir, Dimash has that effect on most women, and a lot of men. No matter how many times you protest, "this is not happening", it probably will happen again. For a fact, the Creator took a lot of extra time when he made Dimash 😂. About Lara Fabian, what can be said? It's so easy to see why Dimash admires her so, and this is my favourite song from Miss Lara ❤️. Thank you for this double reaction, and for taking the time to give some background information.

Je Suis Malade was my gateway drug to Fabian a few years ago. Absolutely astonishing. I've never seen another performance, ever, quite as perfect. Of anything. Seamlessly technically brilliant in a way that conveys the story like a gut punch.
All the more impressive for being a cover that Fabian tweaked in some pretty substantial & genius ways to extraordinary effect.
She is a master of her craft: both technically & as far as stage performance. Perfect melding of technique and emotive power.
I think you would enjoy her Adagio from this same concert. I love its source material, "Albinoni's" Adagio, and her working of it into a pop piece with gorgeous lyrics retains the beating heart of that source material that seems to otherwise get lost in covers of her song.

I have seen these performances many times and it is so evident the effect Lara has had on Dimash. Unfortunately you ended Lara's video too soon because while the audience was giving her a standing ovation close ups of Lara indicated how long it took Lara to get out of the song.
Dimash's Adagio was fantastic and, btw, all his performances on the Chinese Show, The Singer, were mind blowing and never to be forgotten, particularly 'Daybreak' and 'Autumn Strong'. And, no one will ever forget his version of SOS .

Adagio's music belongs to the Italian (Venetian) composer Tomaso Albinoni. Before Lara Fabian it was performed by other singers as well. Lara discovered the Dimash song with Adagio and called him a cosmic boy. Lara is an idol for Dimash, just as Lara has great respect for Dimash.
It's a common mistake but it was actually composed by Remo Giazotto based on a manuscript fragment by Albinoni. Lara wrote the lyrics in both english and italian, rearranged the music with another composer, producer and it became a famous pop ballad.
It was not performed by other singers before but after Lara as she wrote the lyrics and transformed the classic music piece into a pop ballad. Her version is unmatched in my personal opinion. I like most of Dimash version as well (not the end, I missed transitions, pure acrobatics disconnects me from the song emotion).

Lara did not write the tune but by an Italian composer in the 17th century. That's why the title Adagio slow. She wrote the lyrics though but not the music.

Lara's version in my opinion is a better version of this song.
After watching both, I would say that Lara's version is rather boring compared to Dimash.

You should react to Lara’s Adagio, it’s outstanding. She’s really a master when it comes to vocal technique and interpretation. She also writes in several languages, composes, produces, is a musician…she’s incredibly brilliant. Dimash is also an amazing talent but i honestly don’t like this version, too many unnecessary high notes…it was more a performance to show off his abilities than being musically pertinent (probably because it was a competition)

Keep in mind that was the 5th song sung by Dimash at age 22. The song Lara sang she was past competition stage. Listen to Dimash now at almost 28.
