Even though I can't make the meet up, I enjoyed this video. It broke up my Sail Life withdrawal I usually get right about now on a Thursday. So thanks!! Safe travels across the pond! #MoreJokull
William Gross is on the right track, go south of the city, out of the traffic. Let's call it a split between San Diego and LA, that would be Dana Point Harbor --- Waterman's (a nice place to bring Ava), Turks (a bar), the Wind & Sea (your average harbor restaurant with outdoor seating), Famous Jimmy's (across from the harbor, but good happy hour), then there is Hennessy's (outdoor or indoor seating, live music on one side, quiet on the other, half a martini for full price during Happy Hour, really bad service, what more could you want). The traffic in LA is so bad that I wouldn't go to the city if Robin Knox-Johnston was holding a meet-up! Hope to see you, but if not, keep up the great videos.
If you do something closer to Long Beach / Minnie's yacht surplus / Orange County, I would likely head up from San Diego. Los Angeles proper is a bit too painful with traffic and the drive
Hi Mads i realy like your video's. I am not attending your meet up but i have a problem and perhaps you can help me. I made some changes/repairs at the gas installation aboard my sail boat. The copper piping they used is not the regulaar 8 or 10 mm. They used used soft copper tubing exteral diameter 3/8 inch. So now i am looking for two brass compression sleeve 3/8 and two tube support (the thing they insert in the tube to give it extra strenght to widstand the copression sleeve. I am unable to find these things in europe. If i am not mistaken they still use 3/8 in the USA. Can you help me out in some way. Greetz.
Not very convenient for those of us on the west side. I'd think somewhere near marinas (which is probably convenient for most viewers as I'd assume they have boats) or somewhere more central like downtown or culver would be a good compromise.
nickbernstein westwood it's right next to the freeway close to the valley via the canyon rts. or the 405 10 miles from downtown close drive from the marinas 15 miles tops plenty of places to choose from
AND it's not very convenient to those on the east side, or the south side, or... I don't think most of his viewers have boats, we watch because we want to live vicariously. (People who HAVE boats are busy doing boat-stuff, not watching videos!)
We're flying through on our way to Papua New Guinea, but I think we're going to miss you by about a day! :'( Super bummed. If you're ever in our part of the south pacific, feel free to stop in! :D
Oh man! Would so love to meet up with you on my home turf but i will be in Mexico scubadiving that week! I hope you get a fun turnout and take some casual vid of the meet up! Maybe some live Facetime?
Both as a former Restaurant Manager and someone who eats at America BBQ Restaurants a lot, most of them have an expanded back or off side area for during the peak lunch and peak dinner times. If you and your group meets between those times (at a slower time), there should be room for a lot of people. Just calling two or three of them and asking how many they can seat at an expected low time, would answer the question for you. Also, most decent sized Libraries have a first come first serve on side rooms. In our Florida city, we have had rooms to use for free, that seat 10 or more people. All though a lot of laughing sailors may not be liked in a library. Another place, fit he weather is good, would be a city park with a Pavilion. Some Cities Rent them or charge a $20 reserve fee, some it is First Come First Serve. The Plus is, Tables and a Grill are included. Not sure if you want to do it with munchies around. Could be a Bring Something you like, to let others try. We host what we call "Cereal Socials". Each person coming brings their favorite cereal and a few people volunteer to bring a half gallon or a gallon of milk. (I came up with this when I was younger) They are very popular and have never had anyone tell me they hated it. Usually people say, "Why is this not a tradition that people do?" Hope these help. Love the channel.
Chicken-egg problem here: Distances are so great in LA that I suspect that some of us don't want to sign up until we know where, and you can't pick where until you know how many...
Aw man! Ava, Ava, Ava ... that's all you're thinking of ... she's taking over man! It first starts in your head ... then there are socks in the laundry, then there is makeup in the bathroom. Dude think. She is taking over, man! What about Athena?!?!?! She is in there in the cold, suffering and you, like a moth to fire are in LA with Ava. Before you know it, your channel will be about putting makeup on with Ava (on board Athena) trying out fashion with Ava (on board Athena). Buying colored pink blocks, tackle and sails with Ava (on board Athena). Aww, gee whiz ... stay focused man! Fight it!

I'll wait until you two organise a meet up in Denmark,...i'm just next door from that in the Netherlands.
Anyway, have fun you two 👍.
If the weather cooperates, Burton Chase park in Marina del Rey would be a good option!
I'm going to miss you by a week.
I might go

Okay, I’m registered!
What about the warehouse restaurant, marina del rey? They have big open area to use. It's right in the marina
Hi Mads
I put myself down for 1 previously, but my friend wants to come to. So put me down for 2. Looking forward to it.

I am so IN..Location? time? Count me in for 2 people. We can't wait to meet Ava and you in person.
Registered. Just please hold it on the west side if at all possible.
YES COME!!!
I still recommend Castaways in Burbank. Decent drinks, and good appetizers, great views. Whaddya think?
That's really far away from the marinas. Maybe killer shrimp in MDR?
Sure, but since he isn't sailing to California, and since Burbank is convenient to most of the LA area, Castaways makes a great meetup location.

I'd love to go but it's a bit far from NJ :(

I wonder what is going to happen when it’s time to splash Athena in Skive, Denmark?
Hehe. I think we still have a long time to plan that party!

Love the channel.
Come to Amsterdam Nederland
It looks like the camera screen is working fine despite being cracked
Hmm, would it be nuts to fly from Alaska?
As someone who used to live in Alaska...that is a long flight!
yes it would...
No, it wouldn't.
As far as I'm concerned, I think it would be nuts to fly back, afterwards.
Yes, but do it anyway.
Matt Cross if I weren't working I would from ATL. I do fly free though and badly need a break.
BYOB? Do we bring food?
Chicken-egg problem here: Distances are so great in LA that I suspect that some of us don't want to sign up until we know where, and you can't pick where until you know how many...
Hvad med at lave et Meet-up i Danmark?
så du mener at der er lidt langt til LA :D
Don't forget the BYOB clause on the registration. Ha ha ha ha!
I wonder what is going to happen when it’s time to splash Athena in Skive? 🇩🇰
Some of us are coming from Orange County... Don't make the Meet-Up too far out North!!
Dang! I'm an east coaster.. Otherwise I'd be there.
Your lens looks okay from here, but then I have old eyes that are failing. 😉
I'll show with my wife
