Interestingly enough, when Lightfall comes out it'll leave another dlc or two before the 10th year of Destiny. I think Lightfall will have the Traveler either die or flee, but unlike the dark future lore something different will happen that results in both the Traveler and the Pyramids losing at their own game.
Bungie could pull a flood or we will finally realize both sides are evil and we split off from both groups as the Gray and proceed in making both sides lose without killing them (cause we’d have to kill them both at the same time) could even get a new set of Balance Powers which are a fusion of our light & darkness. After all we are the one factor none could predict why cause a certain someone named Elsie Bray
Lightfall will be year 9. I remember seeing in a twab that Bungie still has a Post-Lightfall DLC planned, but they don't want to reveal to us what it entails yet. I think they may have used the word epilogue?
@My name is Byf Just want to start with, I love your work. Don't feel pressured to do shorts to accommodate those with short attention spans or whatever. You tell the stories the way I kinda always wished Bungie would have. Do you man! You're killing it as is.
Sidenote regarding the ship's prow: In vanilla D1 concept art from the roadmap, there was an artist's concept of a Europa glacier, that had an earth sea vessel, a supertanker, encased in ice and split in half when the glacirer split. Could this possibly be the "crashed ship". It's reaching I know - just a consideration to think about. Great vid, byf!
Shorts are good for those like “Did you know?” Lore snippets of Destiny. It would be hard to make a large topic so short even through multiple shorts it wouldn’t bear the same affect as a full in-depth video.
I need to say this because I’ve been living with this story for years now and I want someone else to hear it. When destiny 1 first launched, my first exotic armor was the helm of Saint 14. Feeling some sort of connection with the helm, I named my exo titan Saint 15, thinking I was the 15th Saint. After a bit, I began to learn the lore, learning that the number after an exos name is the amount of wipes they’ve been through. And that Saint died in the cosmodrome, exactly where I woke up. In my head canon, I accepted that I was just Saint 14 revived. Years later, with the help of the infinite forest, I traveled into the future. On a quest to receive a legendary shotgun. When I finally arrived to the grave of the guardian who wielded said shotgun, I was shocked to see that my exo’s face was the same as the dead guardian lying peacefully amongst the dead vex. Realizing that I had just seen my own grave. Even later, through a vex time paradox, Saint 14 emerged. I did not play this season, so when I returned I was shocked to see him standing in the tower. Most guardians after that season left with the experience of having visited their own grave in the future, which I had already done. I had the fortune from their strength, to look at myself and see a total stranger. Unaware of the second life he’s living.
The second vision might as well be the exos that went to the vex homeworld in a massive attack but it's never spoke about cause it was a failure for Clovis
is the battle mentioned in this a vision of the exos landing on neptune?? unrecognized planet, exos vs vex, exos dont recognize ghosts (they wouldnt), golden age symbol on ship
So like what did Deep Stone Crypt teach us? That it’s easier than we thought for Fallen to achieve Godhood. And same with Spire of Stars? Did it teach us that the Red Legion never give up like ever?
I never got past confluxes in D1. Never had a had a clan and people weren’t that kind back then so I’m really glad they brought it back. Got my first clear last week and couldn’t be happier.
I think the Clovis Bray symbol could also be the golden age sigil. That or Exodus program, but idk how those two line uo timeline wise. If Bray was making Exos before the exodus program, could be there's an ship out there full of exos.
I think that RUclips Shorts would be a really interesting format for you. I like the idea of truncating a items lore in a quick video for people to digest. Then you could create a playlist that links the related lore tabs.
I'm really glad that I could do this raid, I was really poor back when VoG was the new thing, so I couldn't play online to do it. I really enjoyed doing the puzzles in this one, and killing Atheon the funny way by tethering him to some supplicants was really quite enjoyable to pull off :p
I want a single player destiny game where we get to play as famous characters in famous battles such as six fronts, twilight gap, the great disaster, eris mourn and her fire team fighting crota, the first team's fight into the vault, it could be called Destiny Legends of the past, maybe we could even play as some warlords or iron lords.
Something interesting I want to see in a future video is what Savathûn's potential plan is and how she's using Lakshmi to sow chaos in the Last City with Quria at the helm. First off, where's Savathûn directly involved? In the lore tab for The Deicide, Aunor sends a message to Ikora detailing a set of manipulated binary code that's being sent through various FWC networks and beyond, code that turns out to be Savathûn's Song. Meanwhile Quria is undeniably in the Vex Network and has access to the resources within, as does Savathûn by extension. They have powerful tools at their disposal, ones they actually might have had for longer than we thought. As for Lakshmi's part in this, there's a few pieces of lore here. There's this week's page of the Beneath The Endless Night lore book, called "Conspirators", which talks about a private conversation between the 3 prominent faction leaders, Arach Jalaal, Executor Hideo, and obviously Lakshmi-2, from Jalaal's perspective, suggesting they should try and get someone new into power within the Vanguard and Consensus, with the current person of interest being Saint-14, and Lakshmi states the FWC has someone on the inside in order to "ensure an orderly transfer of power". Jalaal's tempted by the potential power he could hold, heavily implying the other two leaders, more notably Lakshmi, wish for the same. Then, there's two FWC weapons, the Stochastic Variable and the Pleiades Corrector. The Stochastic Variable's lore tab is very similar to the lore tab of the Far Future from last season, listing several timelines and futures, the last future stating ": the Botza District : a crackling portal : Fallen flee : FWC banners : Zavala is gone : Mithrax on trial : Lakshmi-2 looks over the crowd -" with the end of the tab, right after the last future, stating "Lakshmi-2 : Head of state : Exo : prophet : savior". In fact, "prophet" was also present in the Far Future's lore tab, referring to Ixel, the Far-Reaching, although it was also present in the beginning of the Far Future's tab. As for the Pleiades Corrector, its lore tab is a report from the FWC's Head of Research and Development, the Endless Night possessing an electromagnetic field that rewrites any scans they make and is sending the scans through the FWC's systems by disguising it as collected data, subsequently shutting down vital systems in the process, as well as suggesting the "Night" part of the Endless Night is psychological warfare. With those tabs in mind, we can create a sort of order: Lakshmi-2 has a desire for power under the belief that the Vanguard has been ineffective ever since the Speaker's death thanks to "Conspirators", the Stochastic Variable's lore tab states the device used to view various futures suggests that Lakshmi will become head of state and will be seen as a prophet and a savior following a specific set of criteria, but it's suggested that future is potentially false thanks to the Pleiades Corrector, as the Endless Night is rewriting FWC data, potentially including the futures seen in the Stochastic Variable's lore tab. If this is the case, the fact that the Stochastic Variable's tab matches the Far Future's tab in terms of format suggests that Quria and subsequently Savathûn are the ones responsible for the Psion Conclave's attempts to assassinate Zavala by manipulating the data Ixel found within the Vex Network, with the Endless potentially being a backup plan after the assassination attempts failed. Either way, Savathûn seems to have been a bigger influence in this year's seasonal story than we initially thought, if this happens to be right that is. Side note: It's possible that the Festering Core strike that came out in Year 3, which involved the Taken, led by a Herald of Savathûn, attacking a Vex data core, could've been when Quria got inside the Vex Network itself, meaning Savathûn's had its power for over a year and is using it now, taking advantage of the opportunity.
With Dead orbit already planning to leave and future war cult seemingly falling to pieces i believe the times are different and that we wont flee to the stars like the Fallen before us and so hopefully just hopefully this time we and the Brays can fix things cause as we all know Guardians make their own Fate
that would be amazing if you do youtube shorts. i think it would be interesting enough to watch as well. as far as the far off future goes for the tower and everyone in it, i can only say we should be prepared for whats coming if it comes to our home planet being abandoned as the traveler would abandon us....lets hope that doesn't happen. although it does seem that it is turning out that way with some of the things happening in the world of destiny. i would say let come as it may and ride the wave til the end....ship weapons and our ghosts in tow.
I thought about this theory back in D1. What if Kabr's fireteam had more guardians in it originally. However they fell victim to the rituals of the Vex and were removed from existence. There's no way to prove it because, well, they never existed. Would give reason to the construction of Super Good Advice.
I'm fairly certain the second vision is referring to the Europa vex war. I think the crashed ship is the escape craft that Clovis shoots down to prevent people from leaving.
I would assume that the crashed ship in the second ghost fragment was from the evac ship Clovis AI shot down to prevent Elsie and the other Exo leaving.
Regarding the last vision from the Vault, I strongly believe that The Darkness will not win in the end and nor will The Traveler leave us because if that was the case, why would it defend us from The Darkness not once, but twice? I personally believe that in Lightfall, The Traveler's light will be suppressed much like it was during the Red War and Restricted Zones, but worse, and we'll have to rely on our Darkness subclasses to help The Traveler break out of the clutches of The Darkness. That's just my opinion of how Lightfall will play out tho.😁
with how much time travel and future prophecies have been involved in the lore while now, I personally can't imagine a way the series ends in that dark of a way. I feel like what's more likely is the Lightfall story will either be a large scale event resulting from the Witch Queen story will lead to many guardians falling, either dying or turning to the darkness, and the traveler being weakened or some other similarly major crisis that turns into humanity being on the verge of the worst threat it's faced since the collapse. This could result in a time crunch in the last season of the year where we're having to go through different futures to find a way to stop whatever event it is which given how Bungie has proven a willingness to take the dark unexpected route could be believable that we'd still fail
I think a variation of that last entry may occur. Especially considering knowledge of some leaks that we'll have to wait to see if they end up being true or not.
oky that last bit gave me chill's thinking that we lose the last city and that The Traveler leaves and we have to leave earth kind of makes me think of the movie Titan AE
Man. I've watched a handful of these lore videos, and I love the lore and the game, but it brings me sadness. I miss it. I miss all the raiding parties, the friends I had, and the memories I made. VOG in D1 was a raid that first got me into really playing with other people, so I was always playing single player until then, even for endgame content. I soloed nightfalls because that's all I had for help. Once I had people to play with, it just became a challenge I'd do for fun. Solo night falls, raids with too few people, things like that. I've since lost touch with old raiding buddies. It's hard to make new friends like that, or connect with old ones because everyone is so busy, including me now too. I wish I could get back into D2, but I dropped it before the garden raid came out. I don't even know how many DLC's behind i am. All I know is that I miss this game, this community, and the memories I made.
I think the defining thing in the second story that would indicate it isn’t Europa was the fact that this major Exo-Vex War seemed to have the Exos organized and on the defensive. From what I remember, the large-scale conflict of the European war was almost entirely the Exos continually assaulting the Vex to reach the Glassway
I feel as if these timelines can be possible. But those timelines didn't have one factor. Us. Not us as an entity but us as a guardian. The other uses corrupted yet we didn't we stayed on that fine line and if Sagira and the Exo Stranger are correct, we may be that stray variable needed to break that cycle.
Honestly can we petition Bungie to add an NPC to read lore and stories, such as depictions of raid groups from streams or from old D1 vids to add some more seasoning to the Tower, and if they were to choose a RUclips personality to fill the role of that character I can see no one else other than Byf
Im not as big a lore buff as many but this idea has been stuck in my head since vog re launched. The oracles and specifically the C Lydian scale they use are written and woven throughout the games music and its lore. It’s as if the notes of these scales represent fundamental aspects of the word of destiny. Corners of existence such as time and space, but they represent themselves in musical notes. Many soundtracks seem fond of this particular scale and there’s enough lore that delicately dances around this subject almost winking to us that something is here from what I’ve been able to find. I’m certainly not the first to come to similar conclusions around the music of the game but back to the oracles for a minute. I find it interesting that they have that particular scale almost certainly for some intentional reason. They also always play a “song” consisting of an order of these notes and they’re able to manipulate time itself. It seems to me like these notes correspond to some fundamental universal force and by playing them in a desired order, you may dictate you’re desired reality within the timelines to come forth and this is how the oracles work. By breaking the song you stop the reality. Osiris seems to know more about this... Feel free to let me know if I’m just way off and they’ve already explained it but I don’t think there’s anything yet on how the oracles actually mechanically work and what the deal is with the notes.
And this is why I find the lore that expresses the Vex’s full and true power of reality better than any that express the other race’s powers. The Vex see all and know all, they will know more about anything than any living sentient race that can reach the stars.
I think that those shorts would be good if you can find something short and sweet to put in them. I mainly come for the lore and your very calming voice ftmp.
My theory is, Exo defectors were trying to escape Europa in massive Ships, Clovis, being the madman he is, activated the Glassway to stop them. Some escape but most got taken down. Massive ground battle ensues.
Have you red the lore tab for the ship kabr's aegis? It hints that kabr is still alive and that he has integrated with the vex while retaining his conscious
I'd like to see a trial, maybe a dozen RUclips shorts? Maybe readings of tabs or quick summary of something? Tbd, but I'm open to it especially if you can make a little more on it too :)
Besides the detail of the crashed ship the second vision is very likely Europa, as the vision has to take place after the Traveler's sacrifice and we know that the Braytech facility on Europa was entirely unaware of what exactly was going on in the rest of the solar system.
idk if there is any lore surrounding this, but i'd love to learn more about the Gorgons. idk why they seem so interesting, but having harpies that have the ability to erase anything they see and having an entire labyrinth dedicated to housing these odd harpies sounds really intriguing to learn more about, if there is more to learn about
I tried Vog first day and I found out damn near every encounter right away but my raid team wanted to believe everything wasn't changed so it took us 4 oracle attempts for them to realize you have to do it in order

I got 93/100 for English in my final year of school and deep inside my mind I know it's because I tried to emulate the authoring style I witnessed in destiny and its lore. So thank you Byf for making that masterful storytelling accessible.
"Others bear symbols never seen in the tower to date."
We just got the first of the banners. The House of Light. More will come.
I remember reading these when I first got them, waaay back in Taken King. They were, in part, the reason I found your lovely voice and productions! It was the first time I'd really looked at the Grimoire as something other than a checklist.
That last card literally keeps me up at night.
Ok there needs to be descendant ornament for vex mythoclast, I like the chrome one but I wanna see a descendant ornament of one
That second vision could be seen now as the exo landing on Neptune
Nothing fascinates me more in Destiny than the Vault of Glass lore and anything connected to it.
At 12:30 I feel it’s interesting that they say “though fewer examples can be seen.” When referring to Future War Cult and New Monarchy as this could relate to the story latter this season.
i just realized thet the computational power of the wex could be caused by each radioloria acting as a transistor. so they are like a computer prosessor with more transistors than humanity has posessed in out entire excistence so far.
Basically imagine if every genius in human history had their brains linked and with the speed of a supercomputer the size of planetary systems... through multiple timelines. It's OP af.
The wording of “a sigil of Golden Age Earth” leads me to believe it was *a* symbol from the Golden Age, but not necessarily *the* symbol representing Earth during the Golden Age (whatever that would even be).
I reckon it was something like the POBA symbol, a sigil from the Golden Age
I'm thinking more likely the Clovis Bray symbol, considering the only non-Vex creatures the Ghost can see are exos.
I love how vog is essentially a lot of quantum physics inspired mechanics, almost makes you wonder if time's vengeance is a paradox atheon created backlashing on him
Completed VoG for the first time last sunday since I never played d1. I enjoyed VoG it's interesting and fun. Had a great time learning it.
Maybe the emblem of old Earth is simply the CB initials on that destroyed ship. Possibly the same ship full of Exos evil Clovis AI blew up.
Interestingly enough, when Lightfall comes out it'll leave another dlc or two before the 10th year of Destiny. I think Lightfall will have the Traveler either die or flee, but unlike the dark future lore something different will happen that results in both the Traveler and the Pyramids losing at their own game.
That would be interesting
Some sort of force of gray? Neither inherently good nor evil?
@@morganpriest7726 not quite, the Traveler and Pyramids aren't inherently good or evil, more of a force that is a union of the two, equilibrium.
I think you've forgotton that the exo's were trying to leave Europa on ships but Clovis of course wouldn't let that happen, at least for his daughter.
Hence the destroyed ship?
@@TL-ou9kj Yup, don't remember if it was just her ship or all the ships the other groups of exos were escaping on, but yup.
@My name is Byf
Just want to start with, I love your work. Don't feel pressured to do shorts to accommodate those with short attention spans or whatever. You tell the stories the way I kinda always wished Bungie would have. Do you man! You're killing it as is.
The last vision may have been all the factions fleeing the city after the failed coup of the vangaurd .
I’d love to see some shorts, especially breaking down some of the lesser lore of armor pieces or their descriptions
Does anyone else gets chills listening to this lore?!
We keep Kabyr's memory alive by never letting him live down drinking Vex milk
The second vision might as well be the exos that went to the vex homeworld in a massive attack but it's never spoke about cause it was a failure for Clovis
is the battle mentioned in this a vision of the exos landing on neptune?? unrecognized planet, exos vs vex, exos dont recognize ghosts (they wouldnt), golden age symbol on ship
RUclips Shorts would be great! Quick factoids or short entries related to recent updates or content would be a good plan.
So like what did Deep Stone Crypt teach us? That it’s easier than we thought for Fallen to achieve Godhood. And same with Spire of Stars? Did it teach us that the Red Legion never give up like ever?
DSC was the catalyst for all our discoveries about Clovis Bray and the Darkness, and there is a *ton* of lore there
I never got past confluxes in D1.
I still believe there were 6 guardians in thwt first fireteam and 3 got erased by the gorgons
@@aimlessjames8939 predith (can't remember spelling) made it down there, that's where we find his skeleton
@@tylerkelchen5872 *Praedyth*
I think that RUclips Shorts would be a really interesting format for you. I like the idea of truncating a items lore in a quick video for people to digest. Then you could create a playlist that links the related lore tabs.
Thx for this it's great to find out lore about this weird thing.
NOBODY EXPECTS THE INQUISITION!!!
I'm really glad that I could do this raid, I was really poor back when VoG was the new thing, so I couldn't play online to do it. I really enjoyed doing the puzzles in this one, and killing Atheon the funny way by tethering him to some supplicants was really quite enjoyable to pull off :p
I want a single player destiny game where we get to play as famous characters in famous battles such as six fronts, twilight gap, the great disaster, eris mourn and her fire team fighting crota, the first team's fight into the vault, it could be called Destiny Legends of the past, maybe we could even play as some warlords or iron lords.
also ABSOLUTELY I'm on-board for YT Shorts from Byf.
"I'll see you starside." After that last exodus story, i uh hope not?
I thought about this theory back in D1.
What if Kabr's fireteam had more guardians in it originally.
However they fell victim to the rituals of the Vex and were removed from existence.
There's no way to prove it because, well, they never existed.
Would give reason to the construction of Super Good Advice.
*meanwhile in the vault*
Praedyth: ........... are they here? Ok HIT IT!!!!!
*plays i need a hero with Praedyth singing the lyrics*
I'm fairly certain the second vision is referring to the Europa vex war. I think the crashed ship is the escape craft that Clovis shoots down to prevent people from leaving.
I would assume that the crashed ship in the second ghost fragment was from the evac ship Clovis AI shot down to prevent Elsie and the other Exo leaving.
Definitely start doing Shorts!!! It'll expose you to a whole new audience that might fall in love with Destiny!!
The darkness will become the hunted, every titan every warlock...every hunter! We will take these ships by storm!
"heh, hold my ***hiccups*** 'ka-beer'"
Chills just chills
When I read the vision 2 lore card I immediately thought of Europa and the vex gate in the glassway, not sure if it lines up in the lore
If you do shorts. You definitely need to cosplay as your warlock reading from a tome of some sort.
Btw it's not "POBA", it's "RFBA" in Cyrillic (РФБА) which stands for Russian Federal Bureau of Aeronautics.
Byf is lore master, you do shorts we'll watch them big guy.
The „ro6a“ around the Cosmodrome is actually „RFBA“ and it does in fact stand for the Russian aeronautics institute/division
I think a variation of that last entry may occur. Especially considering knowledge of some leaks that we'll have to wait to see if they end up being true or not.
Is the second vision the beginning of Neomuna?
Been waiting for this, nice
oky that last bit gave me chill's thinking that we lose the last city and that The Traveler leaves and we have to leave earth kind of makes me think of the movie Titan AE
I once had a glitch that made oracles immune
THAT
That’s the prophecy of doom
Oh, that happened to my cousin to, after that he got kicked out of the server..
I love the vault of "Gloss"
For me it's the vault of Grass and Motes
Byf if you so shorts I will happily watch them
And this is why I find the lore that expresses the Vex’s full and true power of reality better than any that express the other race’s powers.
The Vex see all and know all, they will know more about anything than any living sentient race that can reach the stars.
What's the name of the first song that plays?
prophet of doom from garden is all i could think of when I saw that debuff
**DRINKS RADIOLARIA**
It was quite interesting
15:02 Thanks to sunsetting I've basically already lost mine.
Vault of glass lore is music to my ears
idk if there is any lore surrounding this, but i'd love to learn more about the Gorgons. idk why they seem so interesting, but having harpies that have the ability to erase anything they see and having an entire labyrinth dedicated to housing these odd harpies sounds really intriguing to learn more about, if there is more to learn about
Yes please do shorts. Your the best
Awesome video Byf, would love to see RUclips shorts. Whatever you wanna do dude 😁
Always here for your content as long as you enjoy making it, Byf. If you're excited to do youtube shorts then I'm sure they'll be good
I tried Vog first day and I found out damn near every encounter right away but my raid team wanted to believe everything wasn't changed so it took us 4 oracle attempts for them to realize you have to do it in order
Go ahead with the shorts Byf we're cool with it.
