Duff, Cummings, and McInnis Prince Presentation at 2021 Pop Con Conference

NYU Professor De Angela Duff, DePaul University Professor Kamilah Cummings, and poet and short story writer C Liegh McInnis presented papers at the 2021 Pop Con Conference sponsored by NYU. The title of their panel is “Prince: Disrupting Notions of Blackness.” Professor Duff presented “Controversy: The Blueprint of Prince’s Musical Transformation and Disruption,” Professor Cummings presented “Purple, Lance, & Race: Prince and the Art of Protest,” and McInnis presented “The Art of Double Disruption: How Prince Worked in the Tradition of Jean Toomer and Richard Wright to Rebel Simultaneously against White Supremacy and Black Self-Limitation.”
