Excellent information thank you for sharing, now we need this model in my community (beautiful DeFuniak Springs, Florida). Thank you again for the great explanation.
From your statement it seems like concierge medicine is exclusive of insurance. Can they not be combined? For example you pay concierge but also go though insurance for things like tests, MRI, etc?
Well, a few different options are available! First, I make fewer referrals to specialists because I have more time with my patients. Second, if I can solve the problem with an E-consult, I use a tool called RubiconMD. It's an online platform that allows me to access 200+ Specialists and asks specific questions about my patients/members and their issues. Third, I can negotiate a cash price for specialty care in the community - if someone needs to see a specialist in the community, I can ask them for a cash price. Four, my patients can use their existing insurance network to access a specialist - I have them call the number on the back of their insurance card and figure out which specialists accept their insurance and whether or not a referral is required! Thanks for your question! - Dr. Paul
The question is a clue to the bigger problem. If people knew how comprehensive primary care is with DPC, they would understand that Specialist visits are reduced. Even Chronic Care patients are ably handled by DPC. The key factor is time, which doesn's happen in today's flawed system.

So why would anyone ever chooses concierge if DPC it’s vastly cheaper? Seems like it wouldn’t exist with the similar quality and lower cost of DPC.

What happens when you need to send a patient to a specialist?
