I was born 1984 and I sometimes think how sad it is that Karen Carpenter isn't alive anymore. She was ahead of her time and I think she would be so much happier nowadays than in the 70s and 80s.

I used to sing this song and "On top of the world" to my niece when she was a baby. It was the only songs she would calm down to. I fell in love with Karen when I was 8 years old. My Dad had bought a record player at a yard sale. Back then I wasn't allowed to touch his vinyls but my mom had gotten The Carpeters singles vinyl album. She let me listen to it. After I would come home from school I would turn it on and sing along with it. Sometimes I would even lay on the couch and fall asleep to it. It always makes me emotional thinking of life back then. I came from a strict religious background and I wasnt allowed to listen to music. As I was told it was "sinful" but im glad my mother let me listen to The Carpenters. Karen and Richard made my childhood feel so much less lonely. Listening to their music brought me so much happiness and it encouraged me to listen to music. When I was 16 I was permitted to have the freedom to listen to anything I wanted. My Father saw how much I loved music that he ended up giving me his vinyls and record player! I found a love for the Beatles and other artist around that decade because of Karen Carpenter and my father. My love for music has continued to grow since then and I can't imagine living without it. I'm 24 now and still I find myself tearing up at the memories. How good it feels to listen to music and to feel the happiness that comes with it. It's been almost 7 years being away from that environment that I used to be in and leaving was the best thing that could have happened.

The love of my life, the one lady that I could see spending all of my time with and having a family with had passed away last December on the 16th I still have her present here for her.
She was 21 when she passed and I am 21 now waiting for that day when I can see her again and the most painful part is I never got to tell her how much I really loved and cared for her and how I would do everything in my power to make sure she is comfortable but that is all a dream now, and now I must wait for the day I can see her again
