Love this Georgie! As a midwife - I’ll share a few more things:
    - I would take swimmers if you want to jump in the pool / shower and don’t want to be naked (but naked is fine too!) and some for Tim so he can get in there with you
    - Coconut Water and a Water bottle. Hydration is super important to good strong contractions.
    - Snacks! Super important for you and Tim. The average first time labour is 12-18 hours so some healthy snacks are important!
    - Swaddles! Hospital will likely provide but swaddling babe in the first few months is a life saver.
    Aliza xx

    Love this!
One thing about the flushable wipes, please don’t flush them! They do actually still clog up sewerage systems even though they are “flushable”. I’m an RN and if patients bring them in I do ask them not to flush them, just pop them in the bin. But definitely a lot softer than toilet paper 😊

Hey Georgie just watching your new YT. With the Clary Sage just check with your hospital the guidelines around using it. Most won’t let you have it in a diffuser you can put it on yourself, but it can interfere with other women in birth or if there are pregnant midwives etc xx

Hi hun! My baba turns 1 next week. I can’t believe it 🥲 I just wanted to share some info with you; you can take it or leave it but it comes from a loving place and just some stuff some mum friends shared with me: baba shouldn’t have any snuggle toys or loose blankets in their cot until about 10-12 months. Their little arms aren’t strong enough to pull anything off them until about 6 months old so these things can cause suffocation. The Raspberry leaf tea helps to soften your cervix which helps labour progress faster. I had 2-3 cups a day from 38 weeks and baby came at 40weeks + 1 day. Don’t start drinking it any earlier than 38 weeks but you’ve got to drink a ton for it to actually have an effect. I really think it worked for me. Keep that perineal bottle close and very clean 😂 I used mine for 2-3 weeks as a had a couple stitches. Those were some of my thoughts while watching. You’ve got everything you’d need and you’re going to do so well mama! ❤️ good luck! Can’t wait to meet baby girl (on your Instagram obvs lol) xx

For the red raspberry leaf tea I drank it starting around 30 weeks or a little sooner both pregnancies and had very fast natural births with healthy babies both times, so i think it really depends on your choice and the amount you take. For me I think it did play a factor in having couple hour labors each time. This 3rd pregnancy I actually am holding off until later most likely to start.

    Hey lovely,
    Congratulations!
As a mum of four I do have some recommendations for you also.
    * pack a seperate bag for you and baby, trust me it will be so much easier. Pop babies first outfit in a seperate bag and label it as they will pop it in the warmer close to babies birth.
    * You will need more clothing at least 6 onesies plus singlets for under the clothes as the hospital is cold. One of my children I was in hospital for a week the others just 24 hours and I went through all the outfits as they were abit spewy after birth. And also at least 4 swaddles. It’s better to over pack then under pack.
    * A snack bag, i used just a reusable bag. I packed a snacks for me and hubby full of all his favourite things then nuts, granola bars ect for me. And also drinks.

Sending you all the good vibes for how you would like your birth to go 💕 I had my first baby in May this year (a little girl too) and here are a few of my tips for what to pack in addition to what you’ve already got.
    - A long charging cord for your phone… very handy!
    - I found it super handy to have baby’s things packed separate to mine. Especially the first outfit (and labeled) so that someone else can easily grab it.
    - Big drink bottle with a straw… much easier to drink from especially when your hands are full with baby.
    - sick bags for the car especially and at home if you need. I vomited quite a bit during labour and it was annoying and harding having to get to the toilet.
    - A laundry bag for wet or dirty clothing.
    - If you’re thinking of using water during labour you may like to pack some swimmers (if you want to be covered), shorts for Tim if he’s going to join you, and some thongs for the shower too.
    - Definitely some snacks.
    - Lansinoh nipple cream is amazing!
    - I’d pack a few outfits for you because postpartum sweats are very real and I went through more clothes than I thought I would post birth, plus I accidentally leaked blood too.
    - I had heard of taking my own towel but didn’t bother and I wish I had because hospital towels are tiny and quite rough!
    - I also used the bubba bump pull-ups and they were amazing… so much more comfortable than the hospital ones or just undies with a pad and they stay in place overnight.
    - You’ll need more than two outfits for baby girl too, especially if you stay a few days.
    - Loved having my own pillow!
    - Bonds maternity crops because they’re comfy, especially to sleep in. I bought bras but didn’t use them for ages.
    - The hospital gets cold so if you get cold feet I recommend taking bed socks and some warmer layers.
    - TMI but ask for the haemorroid cream and ice packs if you need them… that part was worse than the actual pain from giving birth for me.
    - I also picked an outfit to labour in so that I was more comfortable and I wanted to be modest at that point (just a nightie but I felt heaps better).
    - Highly recommend the Noonie perineal spray! Coloxyl (without senna) to help with those postpartum poos.
    - Not sure if it’s your thing but I only had the gas and used a Tens Machine and that was great… it helped distract me from the pain and relieved my back a bit.
Sorry it’s so long and TMI but just keeping it real here 😂 all the best! ❤️

Hi Georgie! I am 35 weeks tomorrow and have also just packed my hospital bag :) Also, my mum went early with all 3 children and I have an intuition my baby girl might come early too -- could also be very wrong though, haha. Anyway, I've heard those silverette nipple caps are amazing for soothing nipples when BF. I was also told to pack labour snacks that are high in energy, hire a TENS machine beforehand (if your hospital doesn't provide one) for natural labour. An extra long phone charger cable, and thick socks, especially if you plan on getting an epidural. And black, loose fitting pants for the first day/two postpartum, for obvious reasons :) Hope your last few weeks go well and you have the birth you're hoping for xxx

Everyone in my family gave birth 4-6 weeks early, so I was also prepared to pop early! However I ended up having to be induced and gave birth 39+6 just last week, so don’t get too hung up on that 😊😊 Hope all goes well and as planned when the time comes! X

If you are giving birth at GCUH they don’t allow clary sage oil to be diffused there. Learnt that at my appointment last week so maybe just check with your hospital :)

Hey lovely! Best of luck! I had a baby girl in April.
If you’re breastfeeding I Strongly recommend nipple cream (Lansinoh).
Also the Rite Aid Hydrogel Breast Dics were amazing!
And my hot tip is LED candles not just for birth but for in the room once bubba is here for night feeds etc. Much nicer environment then the hosptial lighting.
    Good Luck 💖

Some extra tips for you Georgie (in case you don’t have enough 🤪)
    * Get Tim to bring board shorts so he can wear them if you’re in the bath/shower
    * bring ural. Once you’ve given birth drink it non stop for 24 hours - if you tear you want your pee to not be acidic!
    * don’t worry about maternity bras at the hospital, you will need access so often it’s just an extra step! (Same with the breast pads, you won’t need them straight away…But up to you!)
    * bring extra hair elastics so you have a stash
    * check the size of your onesie for Bub and compare to how Bub is sizing on your ultrasounds, you might need 00000/premmie size since you and Tim aren’t that big either.
Most of all good luck, no matter how she enters the world it will be amazing!

FYI you should wear maternity pads with the adult diapers because midwives need to see how much your bleeding and if you have any clots. The diapers can absorb a lot so it’s hard to tell.

Best thing I took to give birth was a drink bottle with a straw so my partner could give me sips of water without me having to change positions/ tilt my head back. Also travel sick bags were handy because I vomited during labour (not very glamorous suggestions sorry 😅)

  • @LEHender
    @LEHender 2 года назад

I would recommend a straw with your water bottle! so much easier to drink if you're laying down or reclined (my husband would just hold it and I could drink as needed). I would also recommend a hair clip/elastic to keep your hair up and out of your face.

Lol disposable undies (nappies). I actually found them uncomfortable and horrible to use. I loved modi body period undies they were so comfy compared to the plastic ones.

Flushable wipes aren’t really flushable, they get stuck in the plumbing and block toilets. If you do that in hospital you’re going to have a very awkward stay with some very annoyed maintenance men haha
