I used to be a steward every year working for 3 counties and then octavian security /stewards. I watched them pull on/down and got to know a few of the stall holders. I stopped when show sec took over. But even though I no longer work there I still visit a few old mates. We used to get meal vouchers which we spent in diesel Mick's. Also our HQ was in the pavilion along with the police and city council staff in cabins. Stewarding by day and sometimes security at night, now when your are patrolling a closed fair l in e that at 2am in the shadows its like a scene from scooby doo. Miss the atmosphere but not the rain long shifts or the cold.
What a wonderful little gem of a program! A shame the names weren't credited on screen of those talking, I recognised Neil Calladine, a great speiler, seen in action everywhere!
When my mother went to goose fair she worked in service ,there were so many people she was going to be very late ,but a policeman helped her he said your under arrest everybody parted mum walked out with the policeman and arrived to work early
