I have two Black Face machines, that are valued much less than compared to your welder. Your welder has the prized all-copper windings, which makes it highly esteemed among connoisseurs of these machines. The dually tires will help it float in the mud. With some tuning this machine can be made very reliable. Fully restored you could get $8-10K in the right market. My mom told me that a lot of folks keep the Magneto setup versus electronic ignition, because you can hand crank start the Magneto. I think you found a real gem!
Hey Thanks bro for your comments The guy owned it for 40 years it’s all original except the one wire alternator and oil upgrade. I ordered paint from Lincoln/Sherman Williams and I’m painting it The Dark Pearl Grey Like the New Machines
@@kdweld8234 NICE! Great color choice! You're going to be real happy with this machine. Give it what it needs, and you'll see how tough they are. A lot of guys would be happy and proud of a machine like this. I'm happy for your find! Do another video with the paint done so far. A lot guys would be inspired. Aloha!
I love the way those ole girls awhoo when you arc up! I have an old '63 Sa-200 and I love her! Also have an old Hobart with a Wisconsin engine, but my ole Lincoln welds better!
@@kdweld8234 I believe that it's a late 50's, early 60's. Bought it for $200 from an old friend that was losing his sight around 20 years ago. It's mounted on a modified boat trailer and cranks off 24volts.
You have a 1960 Blue/Red face according to the serial number very sought after SA 200 because it's an all copper generator with the round barrel. 1951= A ,52=B etc, yours is a 1960=L-xxxx. This was done until January of 1964, then the letter was dropped and continued with number designations. The engine is running off of the magneto alone, but the amp meter looks like it may be charging, or it could be stuck. Best thing to do is replace the generator with a GM 10si one wire alternator that's self exciting. The vacuum idler needs adjusting so it will stay revved up long enough to change welding rods, which is about 12 seconds. I'd say over all you have a good running machine!
I would say, if the machine is going to be used everyday, I would upgrade to the Electronic Idler much nicer when using a grinder. BWparts has a nice upgrade kit with everything to convert it over, I have the same kit on my 63 Redface, and it works great. If the R-57 idler is working ok and it's not used that much I would just stick with the original setup until it goes out.

Hey Where could I get that generator I’m in Canada 🇨🇦 I know BW Parts in USA ? What do you think
Hey what do you think regarding the upgrade to electronic ignition?

Any Delco dealer in Canada can get that part number for you. There a common unit to replace generators on rat rods, hot rods, etc.
BW parts in Phoenix has everything you need for that machine
Hey thanks I did order new parts there great
