For years I have used a BlackRapid Curve with a Acratech clamp on the lens + a Joby tether with a PD QR on the camera. The BlackRapid swivel wore through and the lens dropped but was saved by the tether. A couple of times the Scratch clamp has come the Swiss Arca plate. BlackRapid don't sell spares, they told me to buy a new strap but I found an identical swivel on eBay.
😂 😂😂 brilliant intro. We’ve invested in harnesses and was going to buy the holdfast but in the end went for Cloverlilly leatherworks with bull fasteners. I’ve got the belt clips to stop my cameras flying around when not in use and can highly recommend. Likewise got the small rig cage to protect from the fasteners 😀
I went with a black rapid. When I shoot events it blends in well with a black shirt and pants. Those Hold Fast ones are very nice. the shackles that attach to the camera are the same as we use on our sailboat, super tuff. I just think they stand out a little more but one is still on my list.
I love my Peak Design lens straps. I use the Peak Design Slides for both the Z8 and Z9. (I also have a Peak Design Lite for my Z7ii, but I used the Z7ii as a trade when I got the Z8.) However, I often use two camera at once and while the Slides work fine, your video has me curious about the Holdfast twin camera harness. I've got a Holdfast single camera harness and it was a bit complicated to recall what attached where and didn't seem as secure as the Peak Design Slides. But, I will revisit the issue.
"Harness at Dawn!" was everything I hoped it would be. Tense standoff, dramatic action, a dual in the wild West, a splash of humor and some good information. I'd like to purchase one myself and help protect my homestead by capturing wildlife and documenting the times. The harness looks safe for the camera and makes the strain on the photographer a bit more bearable. Thanks for the insight, and I look forward to the sequel: "Camera Clips at High Noon".
@@russandloz I think most use cameras and lenses in a big backpack with a tripod attached. They set up their gear on a gimbal head on the tripod. Not as quick as the harness but necessary due to the amount of equipment needed and the weight involved.
To avoid scratching the camera, I use a Kirk plate on the bottom of both cameras along with a Kirk Quick disconnect push button swivel-D at the end of the harness. The plate prevents metal to metal contact with the camera itself.
Good advice, and depending on the brand or type of plate involved, the plate can open up all kinds of possibilities for mounting the camera and attaching accessories. A camera plate is a permanent part of all of my cameras.
Should never attach a metal clip to the camera D rings, it will damage and devalue the camera. You can attach the main load bearing clip to a D ring screwed into the bottom of the camera, correct load bearing point, and use a loop of 2 or 3mm climbing accessory cord to attach a safety line to the upper D ring. This won't scratch and has a very high breaking point for 2mm...
I love my PD Slide straps. Wondering if anyone has come up with a way to attach them at the back to turn them into a harness. Crossing them doesn’t work over because one strap binds with the other strap. Considering just making a clip system to strap them together. I’m not a wedding photographer so just need the 2 cameras for events occasionally.
Ditto here on Black Rapid. Their FastenR Stealth Tripod Sockets make them virtually noise free; no metal on metal grinding and clanging. Their straps are not leather, but I prefer their black color as it goes with my attire when shooting events and even wildlife.

Holdfast for all my pro gigs! 👍🏾 3yrs and no problems! Weddings and sports!

Thanks, it took many years of production! Though with big wildlife lenses I wonder what people use?

Great I’ll have to look into this!
Peak design’s double leather shoulder is the way to go.. imo
Nice video! Maybe you could black gaffer tape the bottom of the camera to stop buckle scratching?
Wouldn’t look or feel too good 🤷♂️😬
Love your videos!

Right ok. I’ve never seen these loops? Like Loz uses?
@@russandloz I don't know what he uses I'm afraid. There are various solutions that avoid attaching a metal clip and link to a top D ring..

That opening really defines the term, shooting from the hip. Question is, how come you look like Huckleberry Finn instead of a Cowboy 🤠😁
I’ll take that! I’m sure he’s a hero too
Does Loz know about Nikons recalls on his "100% secure" anchors?
We forgot another that!
ive had blackrapid for years and it does the job no issues.
Is that hands free? I’ve heard of them
@@russandloz mine is very similar in function to Lozs setup

I'm looking for similar but for hiking and outdoor wildlife photography. Do you have a recommendation there?
Ok I am hooked. Where can I purchase one
Hooked is an apt word to use. Go to Holdfast website
You've outdone yourselves!
