I'm not all that deep into death metal, yet a death metal band (aptly named Death) is my absolute favorite by far, because they absolutely hit the nail on the head in just the right way, musically. If I may suggest a gateway band/album, I'd go with Candlemass and their album Epicus Doomicus Metallicus. Their style of Doom Metal has less classic heavy metal elements and focuses on vocals and catchy riffs instead. The album cover looks like somehing a garage band from around the corner would use, but I assure you, this is a certified 12/10 banger. Maybe you'll like it :)

Honestly I think this song is better as a instrumental bardcore acoustic cover. Love the original, but this really highlights just how much the composition nails the feeling of love, betrayal, and loss.

If you're into heavy metal, you might like them. They started in the mid 80's and have some pretty awesome songs and ballads.
