The video that inspired me to learn Piano. Its crazy to think this was 13 years ago now. I was only 13 when I found this. I never kept it on after a year because I just couldn't get the hand co-ordination right. But revisiting this video reignites the love for the piano. I don't know if I'll ever learn it, but listening to its sounds puts me in a very happy place indeed
To be honest, I've never played Civilization IV. However, this song alone is making me want to. It's AMAZING beyond words and you did an AMAZING job with the piano version. I'd thumbs up 500 times if I could.
The BEST Baba Yetu PIANO version I have ever listened to, believe me. Baba Yetu for the GRAMMY Award2011, yep! I think that people like you have contributed to make this magic song so famous. Our Father who are in Heaven, thank you for panists like this one. :-)
Love it I am Tanzanian, and I understand full each word sang in Swahili Just can't stop listening this piano version . "Baba yetu Uliyembinguni" = "Our Father who is at in Heaven"
I know your comments old, but I still have something to say. While most people know that playing on a actual piano both sounds and feels better. I have played on one of these keyboards and they are a lot of fun.
thewhitellama1234 Due to a fact that i'm also musician, i understand what are u talking about. Im playing guitar and even though its electric guitar, i always enjoy playing on acoustic one. Talent and work of this man should be prized. And even if he likes more playing on keyboards, piano should be like trophy. If not real piano than golden statue or w.e. But i'm just fan, and its my belief :)
I would disagree. Keyboards that have weighted keys can perform the same as a real piano if not better. They also have many different sounds that can be used on them and never need tuning. Price is also generally less on keyboards.
one of the first videos i liked on youtube when i finally made an account, came back to revisit. thanks for the memories, 10 year old me loved listening to this in the background while doing anything on the computer.
I know the dude is probably not around, but to the viewers of the comment section, every time I revisit this rendition it gets better. The more you love Baba Yetu the more upbeat and jazzy the rendition sounds. Just a heads up m'dudez
Randomly remembered this video today and got so excited to watch it again haha. Pretty sure like 10 years ago I got that same keyboard because I liked how it sounded in this video :)
+TheGinnaWinna there are many people in the world and they have each own thought, idea, feeling etc. so it's no good that impose your value to 59 people. ...but I really agree with you this time.
When you play a song enough, the muscle memory is there. On a professional level, almost every soloist I've seen for something like a concerto does it without sheet music. I don't know if it's a matter of personal pride or just something that naturally happens, but playing from memory is simply the result of practice.
WOW. I figured the piano alone could never live up to the power of the orchestra and choir. Boy was I wrong, I was blown away by this performance, it gives me the same chills as hearing it live with full orchestra at VG Live (no small compliment!) Amazing performance dude!
i watched this video last october and couldn't stop myself from looking for the piano score and practice until i basically memorized the whole score.. Thanks for such an inspiring video!!
Hey, I also wanna chip in that your videos really inspired me in my early days of playing. I remember learning this song, Numb, What I've done, Hide and seek, If you're wondering if I want you to and Harder better faster stronger, all from watching you play them. Just wanna say thank you so much and hope you still keep all of this up! Cheers! :)
what a fantastic song, gives you so much strength when you listen to it, your whole chest and heart swells with love, and strength and bravery. Thanks for sharing this, your piano playing is amazing too!!
It's so unbelievable that you have so good talent. I wish I was good as you. You inspire people like me to keep on trying if it is too hard. Thanks for inspiring all those people out there. Keep on playing those songs Ken!
@PLmakaroni That sure is the best part. Also, what I love about videos like these, is that people don't trash talk or flame eachother. Videos like these are filled with peace, positive energy, harmony and everlasting friendliness!
The song itself creates so many ohs and ahs, this one has made me got goosebumps for 192 seconds. You're awesome, and I envy your talent! :D amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!
ModistOne, This is the best cover I have ever seen of Baba Yetu and it is amazing how musical it is. Your right and left hands seem perfectly balanced. You should be proud of your work, take it from a fellow piano player. Well Done...
I rarely make comments... but I have watched this every now and again after playing Civilization IV, and as a piano player myself, it's a hard song to play. You do it with a level of perfection that I love. I can hear a few minor mistakes, but your performance is remarkable.
This piece is absolutely beautiful and your playing absolutely does it justice, you're a fantastic piano player and this was really moving.^_^ I'm delighted that you have an MP3 of it listed, because it's definitely going on my ipod alongside the original version. Wish I could find sheet music as detailed as you're playing!
There aren't enough subatomic particles in the universe to express how awesome this is. The number needed is that gigantic. (that number)/5 stars/"Like"/infinity/etc.
I watched your 21 guns vid and it was so awsome I had to see whatelse you had. I'm a civ fanatic. I play it all the time. 12+ hour games are really common. So, when I saw you had this it was an insta-fav. Really awsome job! Your piano skills are ace.
over 12 years old and I still come back to listen to this regularly

The only 240p video with good sound quality :D
Not really, RUclips adjusts the bitrange for the audio according to the video-quality. But its better then most other 240p videos ^^
He probably has a direct line from his keyboard to the camera for audio.
My dad show me this video like 10 years ago. Now, i'm 18 watching it again on my own. Masterpiece

I was 2. Now I’m 14.
Yeah it’s been a long fucking time.
same....
Love it
I am Tanzanian, and I understand full each word sang in Swahili
Just can't stop listening this piano version .
"Baba yetu Uliyembinguni" = "Our Father who is at in Heaven"
This is still the best version of this.
You deserve real piano.
I know your comments old, but I still have something to say. While most people know that playing on a actual piano both sounds and feels better. I have played on one of these keyboards and they are a lot of fun.

thewhitellama1234 Wtf are you talking about haha, keyboards are not as half as fun as pianos... lock your jaw if you know nothing about it.
I would disagree. Keyboards that have weighted keys can perform the same as a real piano if not better. They also have many different sounds that can be used on them and never need tuning. Price is also generally less on keyboards.
Keyboards can do more but pianos sound more natural. After all, what came first, the keyboard or the piano?
one of the first videos i liked on youtube when i finally made an account, came back to revisit. thanks for the memories, 10 year old me loved listening to this in the background while doing anything on the computer.
This brought me back to playing piano... so amazing thank you ! :D
You should know, my friend, that 13 years later I do still play your version. Thank you for making it :)
I know the dude is probably not around, but to the viewers of the comment section, every time I revisit this rendition it gets better. The more you love Baba Yetu the more upbeat and jazzy the rendition sounds. Just a heads up m'dudez
By the time this video ended...I realized that I had been crying the whole time.
It's just....too beautiful.
Excellent work!
ηγέτης Congo My name is Fillipy Congo
This is a 3 minute and 12 second video. 4 seconds in, my head exploded from sheer awesomeness.
Ugh so perfect!! I'm in the process of learning this song, I hope I can play it as amazing as you one day, but I seriously doubt that. :P Great job!
Do not doubt yourself, use him as ur last milestone for this song, but do not doubt yourself.
Randomly remembered this video today and got so excited to watch it again haha. Pretty sure like 10 years ago I got that same keyboard because I liked how it sounded in this video :)
Beautiful version, I just had to sing along with this :)
Good old days
WHAT A FAST HAND!!!
Your Playing soo fast i cant beat it
Every time, this song helps me to THINK. Thank you.
This is possibly the best version out there. Do you have a sheet music for this one? This is incredible!
I think this one is better.
bansheezs Nah...
Instead I have a shit for you
Never gets tired of listening to this rendition since 2008.

Good lord, this song sounds amazing on the piano. It's absolutely beautiful. Thanks for the upload!
anyone notice on how he was doing it from memory without any sheet music
He could be listening to the original via headphones, but your reason is cooler than that :D
When you play a song enough, the muscle memory is there. On a professional level, almost every soloist I've seen for something like a concerto does it without sheet music. I don't know if it's a matter of personal pride or just something that naturally happens, but playing from memory is simply the result of practice.
Yeah
That's how I play as well, it's called learning and playing by ear.
I can read sheets, but I'm really bad at it while learning, so I choose not to.
WOW. I figured the piano alone could never live up to the power of the orchestra and choir. Boy was I wrong, I was blown away by this performance, it gives me the same chills as hearing it live with full orchestra at VG Live (no small compliment!) Amazing performance dude!
2021?
Yes
keep coming back to this guy and find myself watching almost every single one of your videos.. again (this is still my fav tho)
Well played
i watched this video last october and couldn't stop myself from looking for the piano score and practice until i basically memorized the whole score.. Thanks for such an inspiring video!!
I wish I could play the piano ;-;

sheet music plz
wow...absolutely BEAUTIFUL. My college choir sang this twice because we loved it so much and you TRULY encompassed the spirit behind it. :) Great job!
the only bad part about this is the keyboard. If you did this on an actual piano it would sound even better
I could listen to this nonstop. It is brilliant.
There is a great feeling of epicness to this song, and there couldn't be a better song for Civilisation IV
Awesome job! This is the best version I've found online to date. Well done!
Just simply wonderful!
That is incredibly moving.
Both the song itself and the way you play it!
ピアノで演奏されたどの曲よりもこのBaba Yetuが好きです。
Thank you for playing such a
beautiful song!
I played this song in an arrangement of 3 video games themes, and wow you did the most amazing job of it I've seen!
what a fantastic song, gives you so much strength when you listen to it, your whole chest and heart swells with love, and strength and bravery. Thanks for sharing this, your piano playing is amazing too!!
