The composite version of the Tempest, Zephyr, and Tsunami series was discontinued back in late 2014 / early 2015. The main reason is due to Confluence Outdoor's lack of a proper composite manufacturing facility. Only place you'll find a Tempest 165 in composite will be through a private sale on Kijiji, through a kayaking Facebook Page, etc...
Great boat to go out in for an hour? That should have been edited. This sea kayak can go out for an hour, or be loaded up for 5 days and 4 nights easy.
The Tempest 165 is a great boat for tripping, but it's also a fantastic boat for just going out for any hour. That comment was in context to a new paddler looking to get started in kayaking with a boat that will satisfy them long term. Maybe they initially only go out for an hour or so before their confidence has grown. The idea is that once they are comfortable and since they purchased a sea kayak, they don't have to go out and buy a second boat as the Tempest 165 is a performance touring boat that allows them to grow skills long term. Agreed that it is somewhat confusing they way it is delivered though.
I have a fibreglass version of this kayak and want to sell it. Do you have an approximate price I should ask? It is about 20 years old but in great shape.
