I have been using my Paladin for a year now and love it. Crazy range and performance. You will be amazed when you open it up. The two halfs are connected with a pin connector so careful when separating. The switches on the top can be serviced by removing that allen screw next to them. After removing that screw, the corner is removable for easy access to the switches. I got the deluxe unit for $285 and I received all the extras that you have plus a inductive charging stand and the JR module adapter.
Finally a reviewer is getting deep into this radio! I bought one and I felt a bit of remorse do to the lack of community support, felt like I should had gone for the Radiomaster or Jumper, but you came to the rescue!
Great show John, Looks like a very solid TX. When I got back into RC 1.5 yr back and moved off my 72mhz TX the FS16x was my first 2.4 TX and they are simple to use, Now lovin my Radiomaster TX16S but lots to learn with it and always like learning new stuff.
Recommend sticking to Rev. 49 Firmware (or older), 55 has some issues, breaks compatibility with the FRM302, and requires mucking with flashing receivers instead of them just working out of the box.
This is not a reason to not update the firmware.. just follow the instructions and update the FRM module and old afhds 3 receiver's.. And they work just fine i can confirm that..Also the new (b version) reicevers don't need that update .. The new fw. 55 brings so much to the table for this radio that is a must! Top radio for the money, top quality and very reliable.
Hopefully someone can help. I just.purchased this radio. I have over 25 afhds2a recievers. And just now realused they wont bind. Do i have to buy the rm003 module or is there another way to.bind these older recievers with the pl18??? Thank you
To access the switches to change them . Unscrew the Allen bolt . Next to the switches that are on the left / right sides of the top corners of the radio . Remove ...... No more opening the back un-soldering , then re-soldering . As far as the wireless recharging goes . The first generation of this radio will not sit right completely . Any JR. Module that is attached to the back of the radio . Will interfere with the radio sitting flush against the charging platform . The radio needs to be raised an inch or so until the charging adapter fits under and flush to the radio . I think that I used some extra foam lying around to set the correct height for both to contact each other .I sent an email to Flysky about the problem . They sent back a message acknowledging the issue and would correct it in future production . The radio still charges . The charging unit should be shorter and wider .
"Star Wars" sound :) For old men like me. I'm "FlySky" fan, but this thing is waaay expencive... I like it. Could it support "old" receivers? Could it return the flying battery voltage?
I find springs too soft and the ones included are too soft as well, even once adjusted as tight as they will go. Do gimbal springs from another radio work on this? Great radio otherwise, a bit challenging to figure out updating firmware and receivers. This radio could be so much better with a few slight improvements. Still amazing for the price
Thats actually a good lookin radio. I was gonna say contempory styling but its not, actually reminds me of the brick-ish what they thought was futuristic back in the 90's kinda look. I like it, wont be buying one, but i do like it. And I have said it once if not a thousand times already, Flysky protocol delivers and then some. Super impressed with it
Still have my i10 too. It was on the forefront of them all with touchscreen. Only thing is, Flysky do not provide a latest firmware for the European version.
I got myself the NV14 and they kind of abandoned it, with no help from the flysky team....then one day the USB charging/data port broke off.....after soldering new ones on more than once, I gave up and switched to the radiomaster tx16s max and I couldnt be happier....customer service is much better and comes standard with multiprotocol. not gonna lie this one looks nice but the lack of customer support is a deal breaker for me. thanks for the video, I still dig flyskys products.
It is an unfortunate situation with the work they put into the hardware only to have it failed by software. Hopefully Edge can help get this Rx revived. It deserves more.
Radio is a huge miss IMO. No SD card, no custom voice packs, screen is impossible to see in the daylight. And it is SO high quality that it makes all that worse... Like... when I'm not looking at the radio while I'm flying the voice confirmation of the switch or knob that I just hit is a huge thing for me. And in understandable english. Same with custom countdown timers and all the other goodies you get with OTX... This radio with OTX or a fork of OTX and a SD card for expanded memory would be the ultimate radio. The good news is you can put those ridiculously amazing gimbals into a T16/T18 style radio and also use the FRM302 long range module now. With those improvements to a RM TX16S its just a much better radio in all aspects. By a lot...
Yeah, the SD card limits model memory. The sunshade does a decent job at mitigating sun, but honestly, even my top of the line cell phone screen is hard to see in direct sun so I don't punish radio screens too much for that one. The software is definitely the Achilles heel of this radio. Adding Edge or OpenTx would be a massive upgrade.
I think it is an ugly looking thing, but I like the display at the top and if the quality is decent as by your comment, it might be an interesting radio.

What firmware do you use on paladin radio ? There are some issues with latest firmware ?
@@ovidiuraucescu2804 I'm running 1.0.55 FCC. The only problem that I had was getting RSSI working in Betaflight. What problems are you having?
@@MnPaul1 I am still using 0.49 firmware but saw on FB group people reporting issues of signal lost on latest firmware

That radio is awesome, I have all of the latest radios and this is by far the most comfortable in my hands.
It's a solid piece of equipment. Well made.

i like the idea of the screen at the top, it clears the neck strap so you can see it.
Great job on the first look John.
So many great radios coming out lately. Each 10X better than the last. Feel like I should wait for the market to stabilize before buying one.
That is not a bad radio and the interface is neat.
The hardware is really good.
Wow 2million views, that’s amazing John, well done and thanks for all the great content as always 👍

Great transmitter for the price. I deeply considered it one point and may still once again. Thanks for sharing 🤙🏽

Micro USB? Even a 90$ TX12 has a USB C
Micro USB? 🤮
Why won’t manufacturers let that interface die in a fire already? It’s a horrible connection that just doesn’t hold up over time.
Fortunately it has wireless charging, so you only really use usb for firmware updates in practice.
tx16s cheaper with more options. Better.
Ugh! USB Micro-B? No thanks. It's USB Type-C (AKA USB C) or bust.
Mycket snack och lite verkstad i över en timma

Does crashing your plane into a pile of boulders look so much better with a 'beautiful looking' radio, vs a 'ugly looking' radio.
