    Like I said on the other video, those 1 year reviews are really helpful. Real world experience is hard to beat.
    And its always good to see a pair of 8111s. Mine are 4 months old now, and I love them. Only thing I would add is a leather midsole, so when the first resole comes I'll definitely do that. I think the Vibram 430 is a perfect match for the IR, not too bulky like the lug soles but still grippy enough for everyday use.

    Nice review. I have a blacksmith 3345 which I wear for almost 2 years. Not exactly everyday, usually during cold weathers like autumn and winter, and I think I already wear it for like 360 days. I’m satisfied with my pair of boot because it is tough enough to withstand thousand push ups, burpees, and mountain climbers and I’m using it at work, and casual events. And at the same time comfortable and stable enough to wear for around 8 to 12hrs of work and it doesn’t give me smelly feet.

    Nice! I've got to tell you, I've got an embarrassing number of Red Wing boots, but for some reason, the Iron Rangers (8085's) seem to call out to me the most. No! I'm not hearing voices in my head. At least not right now. Maybe it's the number 8 last that fits my foot so well or it's the way they go with almost everything that I wear. They are the first Red Wings I bought and just like you said, I lusted after them for a good long while before taking the plunge. Now I'm neck deep and still go back to the IR"s. BTW, the blacksmiths (3340's)and Round toes (8196) fit A LOT like the Iron Rangers, but the hopelessly casual look of them makes them the most used of my collection. Also, I have friends that bought Thorogood and Carolinas around the same time that I bought my IR's and they've already bought replacement pairs. Quality of build really makes the value per dollar on these, and just about any Red Wing absolutely undeniable. Keep on Truckin', young man.

    You can take it to Red Wing to get Cleaning & Conditioning and new Laces.. I do it 1- 2 times a year. I just drop them off 4 pairs at a time. When I pick up then I drop off the other 4 pairs. My Nicks and White don't offer this kind of services and I paid almost double in price for them. That's why I got so much Red Wing

  • @Old_Sailor85
    @Old_Sailor85 Год назад +1

    Wore Red Wings for years until they discontinued the boot I wore (looked like an 8" Iron Ranger). I would get two years out of them wearing them daily on concrete and catwalks. Thursdays are more of a dress boot. They have a completely different look and easier break in. For $200 Thursdays rock. Nick's are in a different class than either Red Wing or Thursday.
    Nicks and Franks are stitchdown construction, Red Wings are Goodyear Welted. Hence the two rows of stitching.

    Got my RW iron rangers 8111 about 2 months ago. I was surprised how well they fit and how grippy the sole was. The only caveat I have is that the heel is hard so walking all day will be a little hard on your foot and the shaft of the boot is not profiled enough to match the natural curve of the heel/ankle area. When the sole and heel wears out, I will probably recraft them with a leather midsole, a poron filler for better shock absorption and a honey lug half sole with matching built up leather stack honey lug heel. That should make them much easier on the foot and heel. It is not the best boot in my collection but it is up there and has made it to my regular weekly 5 boot rotation along with it's brother, the 875 moc toe. Honestly, the way I take care of my boots, these should last me at least 10 years probably 20 years. The Red Wing company heritage line really makes some sturdy and nice looking boots, love this company.

      @GentlemansJourney  8 месяцев назад +1
