Best thing to use for metal stuff like the bottom of the forks is a brush and some WD-40, works like magic pulling crap out of the metal. Just make sure you de-grease it afterwards to keep dirt away
my thruxton 900 EFI has one of those "choke" things on it as well, triumph calls it a 'fast idle' which you can use to warm the bike up quickly in cooler weather. Its actually been handy
Who knew Tammy's Lube knew how to work on bikes? Well done. I was never a subscriber before, I am now. And you're the only RUclips bike builder whose head is aerodynamically designed for speed! (That I know of)
Well with the cct it looks like you don’t even need to take off the tank and fir the coolant change there usually a bolt drain plug on the water pump and since it pressurized you’ll need to open the radiator cap to release the pressure from it then to get all the coolant out you’ll need to fill with distill water and run it to operating temperature and then drain it and keep repeating till it’s just clear but other then that you did better than chace so good job 😄
If you're ever stuck with a screw like that, you can cut a slot across the middle of it and unscrew it with a flathead screwdriver. A dremel makes it easy peasy yammie squeezy.
Love the build series yam, I do all of my motorcycle maintenance myself and I enjoy watching videos of people fixing their bikes up themselves keep it up
U have inspired me to rebuild my yamaha v star 650. I bought it this June and laid it down in July and was just gonna get rid of it but because of this build I'm gonna rebuild my bike and turn it into a bobber
YOUNG HUSTLA i ride a V-Star 650 and I’ve ALSO laid her down but I just slightly dented the tank The tank is custom painted with black translucent flames and cherry red So yeah I’m not replacing the tan
Drill the head off of the stripped screw and separate the 2 halves of the switch panel once separated there will be a large enough portion of the broken screw exposed to grab with a set of vice grips and turn out
One trick that I use to extract stripped bolts like that, is to get a torx bit that aaaaaaalmost fits into the stripped out cavity. Then hammer it in there and then turn it with a 1/4 or 3/8 drive, whatever it may be.
Victory v92 had a choke like lever on the handlebar of that efi bike, was technically more of a timing adjuster for cold starts but also worked as cruise control at about 75 mph
CCT is right on the throttle side of the motor. Super easy to replace. I replaced mine in my xx1100 every 2k. Sounds like rattling, It’s more of annoyance than anything else
The "Choke" on a fuel injected engine is called a Fast Idle Circuit. I believe they used it as a cost saving measure on earlier EFI bikes. Now they just have the comouter do it. My '01 Aprilia RSV Mille R has one too. When I bought it I was a bit confused!
It’s not a choke. A choke changes the fuel air ration in a carburetor. That thingy on and EFI engine is an idle adjustment to help the bike warm up faster.
1st Gen "New Classic" Triumphs had a choke despite being EFI too. I was told once that it basically is a manual replacement for what would have to be a servo in the throttle bodies to facilitate cold starts. IDK if that's true or not.
Oh man you haven't seen my chains..on my old DTR125..oh god the chain, there is about 1/3 Inch of Gunk on it, I had to scrape it of with a flathead screwdriver! Couldn't even finish everything because there was so much!
Still watching the vid. 10-min mark. So I apologize if it's too late for this. But. Electrical work. What helps significantly: 1.) Strip both wires. 2.) Tin both wires. (get some solder covering 'em.) 3.) PUT THE HEAT SHRINK ON. Once it's soldered, it's usually not possible to do this, unless you take it apart. 4.) An often-overlooked step: Make a *mechanical* connection between the wires. Turn 'em into hooks, put 'em together, then smoosh 'em together a little. Make 'em be able to hold together without solder. And *then* 5.) Add a little more solder, to finish the connection, before 6.) sliding the heat shrink into place, and snugging it down. That mechanical connection between the wires really helps strengthen the joint, and prevents it from cracking apart later through vibration and such. There are methods other than the two-hooks technique, but that's the one I'm familiar with from Navy electrical work.
Add Clip-ons instead of putting the bar back, it makes bikes looks sooooo much better. Make a custom finish on the tank preferably Mat black or just put a leather tank cover on there in white. Put a custom single leather seat on there and cut off the tail of the bike (half of the frame holding the seat). Add white rubber tire circles on both sides of the tires. Just some suggestions from a Hornet owner over here!
Most early FI bikes have enrichers. Look at the Hayabusa's, the TL-1000's, yes hornets, BMW K-bikes, you'll see them everywhere. They stopped appearing around 03 - 04.
I probably don't need to say this, but I will anyways... I certainly hope there aren't any stupid LED under-lights, tacky powder coated "contrasting" colored brackets and / or J.C. Whitney quality accessories or begged mega dollar rear sets, etc like some of your contemporaries (Most notably Cheese on Two Weiners and Motonausia) LOVE to heap on their "builds"... Keep it clean and classy, Noob!
Fast Idle not choke! X11 came with a fast Idle as well remember... design of this bike goes back to early 2000's it was common for bikes to still have Carb's fuel injection was relatively rare twenty years ago
Love your videos, I was just wondering if you have or were thinking about taking an MSF course? You might have mentioned it before in another video, but thought I'd ask
WD40, green scotch brite pad and elbow grease is a much more cost effective cleaner/polisher for the headers. Bar end is probably too tight on the throttle.
For a stuck bolt try PB Blaster, LIGHT tapping to encourage liquid to get in seams, wait a little while and try again. If it doesn’t work, drill the head off and use vise grips to get the threaded part out once you’ve disassembled. Or use a reverse threaded tool extractor.
You think that chain was dirty!! You should've seen my ninja 250s chain when I first got it. The chain was covered in thick black grease and grime. I cleaned it and it turned out the chain was silver. I'm still not sure how the chain ended up covered in goo like that because the chain was still really good underneath.
Commentate over what you're actually doing! ya know just briefly say what you're doing, why, how, etc. This helps people who are new to motorcycles understand whats happening instead of just guessing what you're doing like changing fluids for example. Also can be more entertaining for those who know what you're doing while there are just clips thrown together without commentary or music. Keep up the series!
Old video but screw stripped because it was jis head and a Philips was used on it. If you have a Japanese bike buy vessel brand on eBay and save your self.

That's a great suggestion, but I belive the screw was buried in a plastic sleeve.

When I strip a bolt which I don't a lot because I don't use power drills on bikes.......I cut a slot across the bolt and use a flat screwdriver
Drill the head off of the stripped screw and separate the 2 halves of the switch panel once separated there will be a large enough portion of the broken screw exposed to grab with a set of vice grips and turn out
to get off trouble screws use a dremel and cut a slit and then remove with a flat head screw driver.
I am a new patron by the way
this easy really educational for people who have no idea about bikes. definitively enjoyed it and cant wait to see the end result
Glad to see you wash the bike the proper way, just a gardenhose and not with a presurecleaner.

Left hand drill bit would've made quick work of that screw. You'll get the next one though.
Rc51 also has a choke. It's more of a fast idle for cold (weather) starts, if I'm not mistaken.
It’s not a choke. A choke changes the fuel air ration in a carburetor. That thingy on and EFI engine is an idle adjustment to help the bike warm up faster.
What about a liter bike makes it a beginner bike?
1st Gen "New Classic" Triumphs had a choke despite being EFI too. I was told once that it basically is a manual replacement for what would have to be a servo in the throttle bodies to facilitate cold starts. IDK if that's true or not.
Hey, my throttle did that too! I just call that cruise control ;)

14:13 craigslist post "honda cb919 never dropped needs tlc runs fine 1000 dollars and she's all yours with a pair of gloves thrown in there too"
Ducati 749/999 also have a choke-like feature to help with cold starts despite being FI :)
As does my 2002 aprilia rsv mille and that's efi
Love this build already
Only one I've seen was on my suzuki ltr 450 quadracer, they called it a fuel enricher lever.
I'm excited myself. Work on it correctly though. Miss a point and you'll set damage either immediately or later on.
10:18 Fuel injected vehicles have a choke, but usually not physical it's just programmed into them.

The r1150 bikes from bmw have “chokes”. It’s just a high idle to keep the engine from stalling while cold though. Not sure about the 919 though.
Fast Idle not choke! X11 came with a fast Idle as well remember... design of this bike goes back to early 2000's it was common for bikes to still have Carb's fuel injection was relatively rare twenty years ago
my 1998 VFR800 has EFi but still a choke, only the 98's tho, 99-200 didnt have it.
Love your videos, I was just wondering if you have or were thinking about taking an MSF course? You might have mentioned it before in another video, but thought I'd ask
Could have used an angle grinder to cut s score in the bolt, then used an impact driver or even a regular screw driver to remove it 👍
Any idea what handle bars those are?
Didn't you show a red wallet in your last video? I can't find it on the ridge wallet website
Doesn't seem like they still do. It would have matched to my Aprilia and my gear and I'd be one step closer to become a power ranger
Good bike choice ... now u need a 900rr and a turbo
Music from episode please?
A hand impact driver will make quick work of that throttle screw.
WD40, green scotch brite pad and elbow grease is a much more cost effective cleaner/polisher for the headers. Bar end is probably too tight on the throttle.
