    So Basim will have to find a way to get Aletheia's conscience out of the staff, by getting someone else's in. And at the same time, she'll need a body to possess, obviously. Rift might have some very interestings plotlines :D

    • @AccessAnimus
      @AccessAnimus  2 года назад +8

      Indeed, that's what I would expect, unless the writers have it that it was a variation on the original Sixth Method or something like that. But yes, if it's the same tech, then it should work the same way. And yes, Aletheia should need another vessel, potentially a body - but not a normal human body (that didn't work with Juno), it should be some kind of Isu-DNA-based kind of body for it to work (that's how it worked for Juno in the comics).
      So yeah, the idea is that the Sixth and Seventh Method may play an important part in Rift, both for Basim and Aletheia

      @@AccessAnimus "isu-dna-based kind of body".. could that mean a sage? Cause that could lead to an interesting conflict. Or even if the ISU conscience takes over the body, it is still considered just a human?

    • @AccessAnimus
      @AccessAnimus  2 года назад +3

      @@alexdonca1567 In Juno's case, when she was bound to be reborn (in the Uprising comics), scientist Alvaro Gramàtica used a Shroud of Eden on a piece of Isu DNA in order to recreate a Precursor body from scratch, where Juno's consciousness was then transferred. So not really a Sage (Sages are human bodies where the Isu consciousness tries to take control), more of a proper Precursor body where the consciousness could work exactly as it did in the Isu Era.
      But I'm not sure if Basim / Loki is able to replicate that?

    Even with the recent, not-so-great trends in this franchise, it's amazing how much lore is in it. And it's amazing how Darby and his team were able to salvage so much of it for Valhalla after Odyssey. I always say that Valhalla is far from perfect, but I have to give it off to the narrative for doing what it could to salvage the lore.

    • @AccessAnimus

      Yep, I would dare say that AC3 - even though it was criticized so much at the time - brought so much to the table in terms of modern day and Isu lore that it's still being used today after so many years. That must account for something.
      Plus, I'm also pretty happy that writers still leverage content from that time. It makes the franchise more cohesive and interesting to follow

    I'm wondering if maybe Aita had some sort of mental condition that complicated the consciousness transferring experiments. Maybe the Fifth Method would've worked on most Isu. It was just this condition that Aita had that meant it didn't work on him. And that's why so many of his Sages went mad.

    Fantastic video and analysis! I've been collecting information and lore data like this for ages to piece it all together. I completely forgot about the letter from black flag that we can see in the video so I've always assumed that Juno rushed to save Aita without really planning how they can both be together again (But seeing how much attention she put to make sure she survives and how she didn't used Aita reincarnations really creates an interesting perspective about their love).
    At this point my 3 main unanswered questions about Valhalla are:
    1) What do you think about Alethia/Loki plan? Something definitely went wrong based on Basim dialogue when he approached Eivors grave. I assume he intended to kill Eivor and then use a Norway Chamber to contact Alethia to review their next steps or to convince Kassandra to bring the staff to him and *maybe* use some ISU tech to extract Eivors/Odins memories to find information about their children (I wonder why they think the children still can be alive). However, based on Alethia dialogue she seems to already know (or calculated) that the staff needs to be passed on the Heir of the Memories instead of trying to find Loki.
    2) Fenrir - was it an humanoid Isu? A deformed offspring of two different races of Isu? An actual wolf? I do understand the Nordic visualisation of it, but if you think about it, Eivor was bitten by the wolf which have made Odin's consciousness to resurface. It has to have some connection to the wolf.
    3) What happend to Freya? I've expected her to sabotage Loki's calculations or explaining Isu history to the reader, but it seems when Layla got there Valka's mum body is still there but in the simulation she is nowhere to be found.
    Hope next ac will explain a bit more about Loki's future and plans.
    Happy anniversary! Keep up the good work!

They both become engulfed in light as they further themselves in the calculations and they both carry the same defining quality of baldrs death and more that I cannot remember. They were all poisoned in some way. Desmond and Layla through radiation and baldr, mistletoe or whatever it's meant to represent. When the Salakar unleashed its wave perhaps that's what fragmented baldrs consciousness? Or perhaps when Juno let the consciousness go after interacting with the salakar?

    Also, technically speaking, if the animus shows the genetic memories of ancestors, that means people like Altair, Ezio, or Connor are still kind of alive in their descendants.
    If they're clever enough, and play their cards right they could have some kind of freaky-Friday/Quantum Leap situation where maybe one can appear similar to a Sage. If they run out of Ideas that would be interesting to explore.

    So, when Hyrrokin takes the Salakar to the Grand Temple to enter the grey, another consciousness gets out, and that could be Baldr!
    So where is he? Well, I don't think his original consciousness could have survived being released from the grey without anywhere to go, and also survive the catastrophe.
    But a copy of him is still in the computer simulation of Niflheim, which I believe Loki/Basm will try to reach using either his or William Miles ancestors who discovered it's location, or better yet, an Eivor-like reincarnation of an Isu who knew where it was and how to use it.

    Actually a nice deep dive into the different methods. I do hope Isu rebirth remains a core part of the story throughout history and we see more sages appear in future storylines (especially a return to Aita since just because his story has been wrapped up, it wouldn't make sense for him to just never appear again in the universe). I know the direction of the franchise has been contentious due to the lack of focus on Assassins and I definitely think there should be a return to that but I don't want them to lean too heavily into either side, both are important to the franchise and ideally we'd get a good balance between both that fully utilizes AC to its potential.

      @AccessAnimus  2 года назад +3

      Wow, we got both a sifpost and a serious post - it really is our anniversary 😄
      I do hope too that they keep the Isu Rebirth but I wouldn’t like to see new ones using the same method because it’s described as a scarce and banished method. Instead, I would be actually happy to see a return to Aita too: because of how it is described, these guys are always meant to reappear even if Juno died and their story is wrapped.
      I’d expect some kind of focus on the Hidden Ones in Rift - that game might couple the Assassin-like feeling with the consequences of the Seventh Method, it could be interesting.
      And it’s also one of the reasons I prepped the video ahead of any potential announcement 😄

    Tbh i've some problems with the 7th method.
    First it's hard to accept that they implement DNA, that it replicate and traverse the ages but that it "wakes up" only once. I find the Aita sage's one more consistent, dna is copied thorugh history, anyone having it becomes a sage.
    Secondly : how can they copy the DNA to 3 (unnaturally big) human foetus, have the 3 foetus survive Toba catastrophe, then grow up on their own. But somehow they couldn't hide and survive themselve.
