Fellow Outpost commander here! My friends don't understand why I love them so much. The Outpost Army is built upon meticulous planning, long odds, precision, and focused destruction. I love the concept of a small but elite human army fighting a guerrilla war against impossible odds and countless enemies. Tips I would recommend for more successful play are as follows: Maximize the power of your HQ bonus! It is by far one of the most powerful in the game and making it a core part of your strategy is a must! Know your pieces and their best suited roles. Commandos are excellent defenders, useful for removing troublesome units and modules before they cripple your strategy. Runners are most useful as placeholders. Annihilators and the Mobile Armor are your damage pieces. Combine them with your HQ to do 4+ damage with a single unit! Move when you must, its not wise to dig in against an opponent who has more blood to spare than you. Brawler can be good against tougher units or against enemy HQ. Heavy Gunner is probably the least useful, but combine with officer for best results.
Thanks for the video Zee. It's great to hear your thoughts. I'm a Mississippi man myself. It's always fun getting a Shadow hooked up to a Boiler and going to town! What army is your least favorite to play against? Doomsday Machine is a tough cookie.
Death Breath is probably my favorite expansion army. I didn't get to play with Iron Gang, yet, though. From the base game my favorites are Outpost and Borgo. Hegemony is probably the one I like the least. Regarding the bizarre armies, I think I prefer Mephisto over Dancer; I guess I haven't yet figured out how to play the latter effectively. Mephisto is slow to build up, but becomes an unstoppable force if not kept in check.
Why hasn't the app been updated in forever? Is a real bummer not being able to play every army after I've bought every other army thinking I could eventually get all the content.
You said in the beginning 3 players is kind of OK, 4 players is to chaotic. I don't own the game, but read the rulebook online. Since I play lots with 4 players, I'm interested: shouldn't the 4 players team match (2vs2) actually be less chaotic then 3 players and closer to a 2 player game?
Bear in mind that the playing area doesn't change, at least it didn't in previous editions. Personally I think that a 3 player free-for-all will leave players with more options to choose from and more space to work with than a 2v2, which will fill up the board quickly.
But from what I've read, there will also be twice as much battle tiles, so probably battles occur more frequently. Also, whenever the board is full, this only triggers another battle, opening up the space again. Like I said, I never played this game, but in general these type of abstracts are often getting chaotic, whenever there are more then two sides, which technical ist't the case in 2vs2.
Our group plays 6-8 player games and we find it really fun. Sometimes we do teams, sometimes we do free for all. We did extend the map I believe 1 hex in each direction. We use heroscape tiles for the map, so it works really well. I've only played 4 player games as free for all's. In a 6-8 player team game we play with each team starting with 20 points, subtract damage to your base, add hits you've made to other bases. For 4 player games we play with first player to make 20 points, rather than each base having health, so it doesn't matter if you end up getting teamed up on. Which app expansion would people get - (Neojungle, New York, Smart, Vegas, Steel Police) or (Dancer, DoomsDay Machine, Mississippi, Sharrash, Uranopolis)?
I bought both, because Neuroshima Hex is my favorite game. Also, Mississippi is my favorite army, because of the poison ability. I'd recommend the expansion with Neojungle, New York, Smart, Vegas, Steel Police first, because the armies are most similar to the ones in the base game. As a side note, Neojungle is best played on the app, because the app will keep track of all the modules. Enjoy playing the game!
Mississippi rocks. They can rotate enemies tokens, they have a decent bomb. Wish they had more guys with net. 1. New York - shotgun, rocket launcher, armor. They click with me. 2. Moloch. 3. Mississippi - poison, tricks. 4. Sharrash - bombs, tunnels, tricks. 5. Smart Honorable mention - Steel police. I hate Vegas and miners - uranopolis.
It’s funny you say no 4 player. That’s pretty much how our group plays and it’s the most played game we have (100+ plays). It’s chaotic and not as tactical but is a real crowd pleaser. Also Zee, have you bought Vegas? They are he’s but great
Would love to have Zee revisit this now that's it's been a few years and a couple more armies have come out.
Great idea!

Excited to play this with you at Origins, Zee. I did the KS donation for 2 hours with you.
Thanks for doing this video! I've looked forward to hearing your top 10 Neuroshima Hex armies.
My favorite are the Borgo, i love the mutant and cyborg theme as well as the constancy and high initative of the units.
New York is also my favorite army. This game is overall fantastic and I'm happy that Zee like this game.

1) New York
2) Steel Police
3) Mississippi
4) Death Breath
5) Sharrash
6) Dancer
7) Iron Gang
8) Outpost
9) Vegas
10) Moloch
It’s really gratifying setting up a good combo with DoomsDay
Someone buy Zee some NH armies! He's hurtin' here!
One of the best boardgames ever
I love neojungle but I play EXCLUSIVELY on the app so I can understand the analog army would be fiddly
Neojungle is by far my favorite! it's adds a layer of strategy on both sides to the match
My favourite is Outpost, but I have only two additional armies: Neojungle ( My second favourite) and Dancer ( My third favourite).
Steel Police for life! I love the net and judges so much that I have trouble playing anything else.
I'm tired enough that the screen transition at 1:34 made me think the shelf was falling over for a sec
Maybe I should rethink my priorities in life...
Death Breath is probably my favorite expansion army. I didn't get to play with Iron Gang, yet, though.

dancer and doomsday, love them! but haven't played all factions

Neojungle, New York etc

No love for uranopolis? I only own Mississipi and Uranopolis apart from the base game, and that is my favorite.
New York is my Favorite as well!!!!!!
Doomsday Machine is the army I dislike the most as they are clearly OP...

Neojungle is great! For my dancer and uranopolis are the worst. Dancer is just annoying to play against and uranopolis is.. just dead on arrival.
Moloch forever.
If I remember from your review you thought iron gang was mediocre
Christopher Wood probably had more time and experience with it and perhaps changed his mind I assume.
I actually remember he said it was very fun for being a "basic" army but with interesting twists
