I'm glad I found your video I loved it! I'm teaching a friend how to crosstitch. I've been crossting since I was probably 18 or 19 years old. And now I'm 50, and I'm teaching my friend who stresses over not working on her projects that I'm showing her how to do. One of the first things I told her was this is not something you ever have to rush on. Take your time even if a small project takes you a year to complete. Was nice to hear someone else say that they take their time as well. I love your organization ideas! They are fsbulous! I am only now finally getting into creating and soon to be selling absolute beginner projects for people like my friend who get overwhelmed easy on this stuff. Thank you for mak8ng your videos. I found you 2 years after mak8ng them, but going to be bingwatching your videos today. New subscriber.❤
I don't know who the 9 people are that didn't like this video. You don't have to organize your materials like the video, but the information and presentations were excellent!!
I’ve learned a lot by watching the video. When I move, I will employ some of these as I will be moving to a much smaller home. Thank you for the effort in filming the video.
This is a great video, very well done. Clear and consice, SO many ideas. You are absolutely right, COSMO ROCKS!!!! I was intoduced to the floss a few years ago and have collected the whole set. I love your stack and carry idea.
I store my floss in bags in a large tote. One thing that has really helped me is a divider for the floss numbers. 200, 300 etc. I used old file folders cut to size and I have the outside of my box labeled with the range of numbers inside each box. I love the shelf liner ideaà
I've been trying to decide how to improve on my floss storage and will be trying your method. I use a larger size of those same type of stack boxes for quilt supplies and have a few smaller ones for Christmas decorations (thanks for posting the Target link to the size you use) and have Flossaway bags that I've rarely used so think I could make this work! Also great tip on the shelf liner in the bottom. I use the simple zipper project bags and love them. Since I am primarily a quilter, I have tried to resist the lure of making the pretty fabric ones. However, I've recently caved and have plans to make two that incorporate stitch projects in the back of them. Let's hope I can keep it to that, LOL!!
Just found your channel and I'm just getting back into cross stitching. I was looking how to store my floss threads and love your tote box ideas. I want to get some of those. Thank you for the wonderful ideas of how to store cross stitch supplies.
I just started to cross stitch again since watching flosstube. This video is so helpful in organizing my cross stitch supplies as I build them up. New follower straight away from this video! Love the way you explain each of your organization system
Dye lots can vary very noticeably when you don’t keep the same skeins with the same project. Hence, I always the kitted and started fabric together. NYou’d be surprised at how much a shade can change over dye lots and years. Trust me…after 50 years of stitching, I learned the hard way a long, long time ago. P.S. This is one of my “Never break” rules!
This is so helpful. Between my yarn crafts and cross stitch I need this! Trying so hard not to collect so much and my craft room is bursting! Thank you for sharing!
I'm so happy 😁 I found you! This video is EXACTLY what I was looking for! I love you thread organizing technique! I'm going to go look for the boxes today!
So organized! I figured out pretty quick after ruining a few wip chart pages to use portfolios. I don't use vinyl to see the pattern but will probably add a small tag with the project name. I keep all my floss organized by number in a floss box and one of my projects is so big, It required it's own box. So once I'm done with that project I'll reuse it for another large project. I for some silly reason never thought to organize my Aida. Which seems silly now tbay I think about it. So now I have to go back and label all my leftover Aida. Haha. Thanks for the tips. Really helpful.
Very nice - well done, thank you. I'm particularly impressed with your floss storage system- and that you point out one could still see the colors from the side - which is what I love - but...do not love crinkled thread wound on flat bobbins. Thanks for the tip!
What a great idea for storing floss bags. I gave some floss stored in bags, some on bobbins, some on rings. What a mess! Maybe I'll get myself organized some day.
Thank you love this you have have been a tremendous help to me! I live in small house and want to have things organized and handy! Thank you so very much!
Oh I love the shelf liner idea! I just found your channel. I asked about the FQS journal on my video today and here you were, suggested by RUclips 😳…lol. I use the floss bags and love your idea of using the snap totes
I want to spend my money on my project not on project bags so I just use jumbo 2.5 gallon zip lock baggies !! I can see in from both sides and they are economical and easily replaceable.
I prefer using floss drops. I’m not one that likes bobbins any longer. I couldn’t stand the floss being ‘crimped’. After I started using floss drops, I found it easier to pull one floss thread instead of cutting a six strand and then separating to get one strand off. Then you have to re-wind on the bobbin. I will eventually put both my complete sets of DMC onto floss drops.
I just found this video and I have been stitching a long time and I really enjoyed it. I just wish that you had some sort of store code on the items so that we may look them up. But overall this was even helpful for me. My sister and mom just started and this gave me ideas for Christmas for them.
Fantastic Floss tube!! So glad I found your channel. I, too, absolutely love stitching with Cosmo and finally broke down and bought a Cosmo Thread "book" to help me find colors when the designs call for DMC. I still need to find other online stores to find the Cosmo thread since 1) I don't have any Needlework/Cross Stitch shops in my area any more and big box stores don't carry it, and 2) the online shop I get most of my cross stitch supplies from doesn't carry all the colors. Any suggestions would help!!!! Thanks again for a great video!!!
I find cosmo fabric online at Fat Quarter Shop, they also have a little cosmo floss. 123Stitch online has LOTS of cosmo floss. They don’t have the fabric. Those are my main online sources for it. Then I was lucky to find a new to me quilt shop about 15 minutes from me that actually stocks cosmo floss! Nothing else cross stitch related in the store so it’s odd but I don’t look a gift horse in the mouth. But for online: FQS for fabric and 123Stitch for floss. 👍
Thank you so much! I LOVE this video! It is so helpful! Could you please, please share where I can get the little plastic box that you had in your notions bag. I have seen this before but have never been able to find out where I might purchase one.

Question - Hello, I really like your examples of organization. Curious though, Why don't you use the pre cut plastic floss cards. The ones that look like little spools of thread. It seems alot of stitchers are going the plastic bag type of organization. I just can't find that perfect organization for me because there are so many ideas. Also, how are you Labeling your bags. Which is most economical if you're on a very tight budget. Thank you for sharing your tips and thoughts. Happy stitching 🙂
Hello. Thank you. Using floss bobbins are a personal choice. Some love it some hate it. I don’t care for it as I don’t like how it kinks the floss. Try several methods and one will feel right for you. 👍
Cosmo thread is available at Fat Quarter Shop online store, amazing floss. If you look at Etsy under project bags you’ll find a whole bunch of different kinds of project bags. You can find something that suits your taste. Good luck!
Question - you store your off season fabric in a bag but what do you do with the pattern? I would be tempted to include the pattern with the fabric. Makes sense not to have the floss stored there; I don't know HOW many duplicates I have at the moment!! ;-)
I keep the pattern in my pattern storage bin. I find that I can more easily access it in a moment to see if I have it (so I don’t buy duplicates), check any info about it if someone asks, and to flip through when changing out my wips to see what I want to work on.
Thanks so much for all of this helpful information. I don't know if you've covered this topic yet, but do you have any hints about fabric care? When I finish a project, I steam the whole thing to smooth it out, but I'm afraid that is a bad idea. Is pressing better/safer?
There is a pressing mat by Yarn Tree just for cross stitch and embroidered work. It’s a thin foam type stuff. It supposed to be really good. I don’t have it but have thought about getting one. I use a dry iron on the wrong side if I need to press. Most floss brands I use are color fast but some over dyed or fancy floss will bleed so I’ve just made it a rule of thumb to not use steam for myself. In the end, if it works for you, then it’s a good way. I also use qsnap rather than hoops and don’t get those deep round ‘wrinkles’ so it’s easy for me to iron. Perhaps other will comment and we will see what they use for set in wrinkles.
I have been searching for a good clip on light and magnifying tool. Is your little Ott Light the one they have advertised for use with a sewing machine? They have so many lights to choose from and it’s confusing! 😵💫 I want it small but powerful. Also did your light come with a magnifier? I have a large floor stand Ott light and it’s cumbersome to say the least. Also, we travel so having a small good light/magnifying to clip on would be great! BTW last week I ordered a Ks creation z frame and can’t wait to get it! And your floss storage is genius 🤯
I really loved this episode. Can you tell me again please the name of the totes that lock together you side for your floss. I think I am going to use that idea. I love your floss drops as well. And I’m going to put my label maker to good use

Totally agree.
No excess hand fluttery, well paced, well presented and explained. Will subscribe to your video channel
Great ideas! I love how you use the shelf liners so the floss bags don’t slide down!
I absolutely loved watching this video. As someone who also doesn’t have a lot of space, this was quite inspiring. Thank you. 💙💙💙

Nice tip using shelf liner in the bottom of the Sterlite totes!😊❤. And I must make some zippered project bags!
I've watched a lot of videos on storage and your system of floss organization is genius!
Thank you so much! 😊
Excellent video. Lots of great ideas.
I’m just starting to cross stitch and I find these videos and tips SO helpful! Thank you…❤
Love the floss box system!
Great video! Very inspiring for someone who is just getting into cross stitching
wow, amazing organisation! I wish all my hobbies were that organised.
Thank you!
The shelf liner in the floss storage box is brilliant! Snagging that idea right now, thanks 🙂
I will be getting shelf liner for my boxes, thank you for that wonderful tip
You bet! Glad you found it helpful.
The binder clip to hold your cheaters is genius!💕

Well explained video on organizing. Like the ideas and the project bags are really nice!!😊

Wow I need to get more organized!! You have a great system
I just started to cross stitch again since watching flosstube. This video is so helpful in organizing my cross stitch supplies as I build them up. New follower straight away from this video! Love the way you explain each of your organization system

Thank you! I got my boxes at target. Sterilite Stack and Carry. $5.99 for two trays. 👍
Really great ideas. This is probably my favorite cross stitch organizing ideas!
Thank you so much!

What a great idea for storing floss bags. I gave some floss stored in bags, some on bobbins, some on rings. What a mess! Maybe I'll get myself organized some day.

Lots of great tips for organising. Thanks so much.
I've never used Cosmo thread. Why do you like it? Thanks for sharing all your great ideas.
Thank you so much for all of these great tips!!
Thanks! I enjoyed your video!
So glad!
Wow! Such great ideas. So many great tips that I’m going to use. Thank you so much.
Good review, thank you.
I want to spend my money on my project not on project bags so I just use jumbo 2.5 gallon zip lock baggies !! I can see in from both sides and they are economical and easily replaceable.
WHERE do you find those extra large Zip-Loc bags????

I get my Cosmo from Fat Quarter Shop (online), 123stitch.com, and the only semi-local shop I have that does carry it. 👍
A Stitching Shop in Denver carries Cosmos thread
I also love Cosmo but it’s hard to find. Where are you finding your floss and fabric that are Cosmo? Wonderful video
I find cosmo fabric online at Fat Quarter Shop, they also have a little cosmo floss. 123Stitch online has LOTS of cosmo floss. They don’t have the fabric. Those are my main online sources for it. I purchased it from hobby lobby
You're a genius thank you
Where can I order the Cosmo Fabric. I too only use 16 count. I thoroughly enjoyed your video!
I get mine from Fat Quarter Shop online.
Where did you get the little plastic container Dr for your scissors, seam ripper, etc.
Hobby Lobby
Love how organized you are. Could you please tell where you purchased the boxes for your flosses. Thank you for your awesome hints to be organized

Where did you get the bags you keep your projects in and the book? Where do you buy the Cosmo thread?
Cosmo thread is available at Fat Quarter Shop online store, amazing floss. If you look at Etsy under project bags you’ll find a whole bunch of different kinds of project bags. You can find something that suits your taste. Good luck!
I seen the stackable box at Target but how did you purchase the additional boxes?
I just buy multiple sets and stack them together.
Great ideas
I have looked all over for those containers for the thread, and cannot find them anywhere. Wonderful video !
Target has them and hobby lobby. They are sterilite stack and carry small size. 😉
@@SimplyThirdStreet can’t find them anywhere but am still looking.

Solution: When you get a whole bunch of the same color….you find a monotone sampler and use it all up.
Fun video. Thanks. What are the dimensions of your cute WIP / project bags
My favorite size is a 10x13 respectively but I have many 11x14 as well.
Oh yes, where you order those clear Small floss drops
GWStitchinDepot on etsy. 👍
Love these ideas for tools and organizing. Would you please tell me where you got your ott clipon lite? I need one so bad! Thank you!
Thank you! The clip light came from Joann.
I love the little clear plastic “box ‘o stuff! Where can I get the little box? Thanks
Hobby Lobby. It’s by creative options.
Thank you.
What kind of shelf liner do you use? I really like your organizing system.
Thank you! It’s just the rubbery liner I found at Target but I’ve seen it at Walmart as well. It’s sold in a roll with the other shell liner.
Than you! ☺️. And yes, the ott light comes with a mall magnifying lens as is shown on a sewing machine I believe on the box.
I really loved this episode. Can you tell me again please the name of the totes that lock together you side for your floss. I think I am going to use that idea. I love your floss drops as well. And I’m going to put my label maker to good use
Sterilite stack and carry. There are two sizes. These are the smaller. Hobby Lobby and Target sell them in my area.
