I got back into recording after 20 years for fun. I used to use a Roland VS1680 MIDI'd into a Korg Trinity. I was amazed with the advance of technology with my Reaper DAW and a few free VST instruments. Now I see what money can buy. Stunning stuff. A real pleasure to see it in action.

That truly is a dream setup. You have real world vintage synths that, as far as audio is concerned, have the integration of vst plugins in Cubase. Individual recorded audio tracks with just a few button pushes. That's AWESOME!!!!!!!!!
Uh yeah. Most people wont quite understand and share in your elation of that desk. I would do anything for that desk instead of a pair of old, but great Mackie LM-32's as my mix organizer. Thankfully I have the 60hz noise under control! 😉 Excellent setup! You deserve it and the simple fact that you actually know how to use it is poetry!!
That is an efficient way of working. It’s got so many buttons! Eventhough I only have a humble Korg Nano Kontrol Studio, the Jogwheel has got to my favorite control on any control surface.
This is insane. And one question is burning for me: how the hell does one finance all this beautiful gear?! Also, I'm super happy to see that all this beautiful gear is being put to good use and not collecting dust somewhere, and thank you for sharing all the nice videos!
From what I understand the guy runs established online music mixing, mastering and production services that form a division of the Sunlightsquare Records music label in London. In combination with this youtube channel and done over many years this would let hem to accumulate quite a bit of gear. Also some of the gear is probably at least partially sponsored by gear manufacturers.
He talked about it in other videos- the mixing console is "given" from Yamaha- and the older instruments are mostly from a time when they where just old and not retro :) .. also it is a business- a smith needs an anvil- a music studio needs a mixing table
Very slick. It's amazing what can be done with automation these days. Even just having a DAW like Ableton makes things possible for the home musician, that weren't possible just 25 years ago.
That's such a bucket-list mixing console. Man. The possibilities! I hope they let you keep it for a long time, and that you can cope with not having it when they do ask for it back! BTW, ladies in his audience aside, only Claudio can blow us grown men a farewell kiss over the Internet and we're perfectly fine with it, ha-ha!
Claudio, my man!! I don't understand why I missed so much of your online content, so I set the notifier on "everything". haha. This video makes me realize; I missed you. Keep up the g0000d work! ♥♥
years ago I started with an tascam-handheld-recorder (stereo-line-in and stereo-record), after that I turned to an 8channel in -2channel out Tascam. changed fast to an linked array of six tascam 2488 Recorders (=48 channel record) - but currently I am still on the Behringer X32 and enjoying its motorfader and I am happy that I had not to move that hardware - coz it is an heavy weight ;-) of course your Yamaha nuage is amazing...wish I can buy that in future too :-) BUT I think that the Environment (room/building) is also high important to be creative with all that studio-stuff - so I plan to build an 3 floor building dedicated for studio / sound creation. music needs room and being creative should not ends in great build up/down sessions. you are always inspirating Doctor Mix - I'll keep follow you. ;)
Excellent as always... I was waiting for the Nuage full review and experience... If I ever get to live out of music and be able to afford a real ass studio, it will probably look suspiciously close to yours... Thanks as always for this content. You have inspired a lot of people. You deserve all this.
Boy got a new toy!! 😂 lol. The happiness in your face is amazing!! Actually I kept this system on my radar for a while and saving to get it . Integration with Cubase and Nuendo is outstanding also can work flawlessly with PT and other major DAW. Definitely worth every penny.
For anyone who’s wants to do something similar with a lot less money try the x32 rack and x-touch. With the Midas stage boxes you get 32 channels over cat5 and mixer and daw control with the x touch
The desk in the video is about 30k. That's a lot, for most people, to spend on just a mixing desk. And if a person is being creative, and putting themselves into it, it's certainly not needed
I love the ease which you can group/link channels. I have my 505 set up as a send in my system as well, the same way, so I can select which synths get sent to it. Watching you effortlessly sync that 808 and then record all the individual tracks at once with just a couple button presses - it's magic. That said, I can only imagine how long it took you to get all of the sends and routing set up the way you wanted it. No wonder you never go home!
I would add the only little "fault" I see is you could have more screens in the room (so that you do not miss a direct info while you record)? Love U Doctor mix ^^
I have a Yamaha 01x mixing desk/control surface/audio interface. Unfortunately, Yamaha stopped supporting it on Macs like 10 years ago, so while I had my Mac Pro, I had to dual boot it with a recent version of macOS and OS X 10.6.8. Now with an M1 MacBook Air I can't even use it, and there's no real replacement for it...
Yooooo, this is amazing😮😮 Truly amazing, my mind is a boiling pot of possibilities now. I'm really happy for you, and a bit jealous with my 64 quarter note one channel looper pedal and two line audio interface😂
I'm halfway the video now and I'm just smiling, this is so amazing. I have to do so much work with cables and instruments and my daw and soft synths and samples to reach this. Takes me the whole evening at least😂
Dunno if it was because i talked you about a video on that wanderful mixing desk/controller/interface... but... Man... THIS IS my dream video (and studio!) Just IDEAS with no hassles! Yep... i know... the learning curve... but... well... for you there is any learning curve in any gear... (well... almost! XD)
ok.. this is pretty rad and most certainly has been ONE HELL of a job to install, setup and configure. i don't even want to imagine the mess a simple yamaha driver / software update could cause. but what i really wonder is how claudio keeps all the equipment dust-free... especially the synths between knobs/ faders and on top and in between the cables.. YIKES! the delay unit obviously seems to be "unmanaged", dust-wise :D
I first started drooling for a Nuage years ago, when it was first introduced. Loving Cubase as my primary DAW for the last15 years, this would be an awesome centerpiece for my yet-to-be-built home studio. I already have a demand for such desk. My 32X has gone as far as I can take it and now I need more inputs. You have a 76 input channel station with only16 faders. Would another input bank of 8 faders make switching a lot easier? I think I’d require 3 input modules and a control module for a total of 24 simultaneous controls. Mixing a set of drums, main vocals, backup vocals, 6 keys in stereo, guitars and bass would more than my controllers. That’s the trouble with my 32X, and getting a ‘Wing’ (although 1/10 the price of a Nudge) seems more like patching a leaky pipe instead of replacing it. I find it odd that there is no dedicated video monitors for the system, only recommendations. You are always a joy to watch. I think you should consider doing several training videos on this mixing desk to honor Yamaha’s loan to you. You present concepts and procedures very well and make learning fun. Once I do invest in a Nuage, I would continually refer back to any tutorial you made on it.
Looks great and i want one! But i think you should be more open about sponsored products. It takes 17 min before you thank Yamaha for providing the mixer. Just a thought. Thanks 🙏
So, this might be a dumb noob question.....but when you record, are you recording the midi data from the instrument and then on playback it sends the midi data back to the instrument to play it back? Or are you recording the actual audio (wave or other format) from the instrument when you record? I'm asking because I record from a Moog Grandmother and if I record the midi data and playback, I can change the settings on the keyboard and change the sound, but if I come up with a cool sound I need to record the actual audio because the GM has no ability to save setting into a preset. Your setup is crazy awesome!!

Hi, I love your channel and your practice videos. Question: can you make more videos about a full Nuage system like yours (for beginners)? Installation, what, how, where,... settings, problems, solution... There are are not enough videos and information about Nuage from Yamaha (in general and in German) or on the internet. I would like to know how difficult it is to install this system (like your system). Goal: 32 audio, 32 midi, sync with analog drummachines.... Which PC with which hardware? Nuage is not really cheap.
