Sancocho coco Chanel was not one of these women . She lived in her own world . She had her opportunity to start a new life and flee to America like many other wealthy people in Paris . Instead she stayed and swindled her way into the Nazi party . It amazes me that people would support such a human , whether it be a woman or man
Nothing about being a woman (leg to stand on? C'mon, she got everything she wanted just by looking pretty and batting her eyelashes from her suitors). So, the international venture needed her business to integrate with his, which was a much bigger and wealthier business. That's why he owns most of it because most of it was his.
Okay people, it just shocks me how all of you are suprised about this. There was NO WAY you could start a succesful business if you weren't sympathized with the german nazis. They were everywhere. They had power. I can assure you, every single company started during the war has corelation with nazis, no matter if its Disney, Ikea or Hugo Boss. Coco had no morals, she was manipulative and that's how she made her way to the top and it amazes me how she is portrayed as the elegance symbol, because in my opinion you cannot be elegant without an elegant soul.
Yeah they were the rising powers in the 30's so they were the ones you wanted to get in bed with. Keep in mind it was years before the real atrocities happened and much before they came to public knowledge. Government and military contracts are extremely lucrative for private companies. It makes perfect business sense that many companies wanted to work for them. Business people are cold hearted MF-ers, they only care about the money. I can't believe people are surprised by this.
A lot of the most iconic 20th century fashion designers had Nazi sympathies/ties, she wasn't the only one. Christian Dior, Hugo Boss, Cristobal Balenciaga, including the Louis Vuitton family.
Hold on now you have to be careful suggesting people like Christian Dior had “ties” as you put it, it’s not that simple. Dior was not himself an established designer nor was he a sympathiser, simply he was a man working in a fashion house during the occupation of France and he like meany others where forced to obey orders. He dressed nazi wife’s yes did he want to ? No. His sister who he loved more than anything was a member of the French resistance who was captured, tortured and sent to a concentration camp. The miss Dior perfume was dedicated to her upon its release. Then again he had a cousin who was a nazi but then like anyone of the time there will have been people he knew who where for an against. Diors views are not public. Coco Chanel on the other hand is quite evident but I suspect it had more to do with her own financial greed.
Wow so what do you want? For every brand and person who collaberated with germany under the war to be banned and forgotten? You know germans are people as well and not guilty of genocide, yes there was some people doing that but it is nothing compared to the rest of the german population

Thank you for this extensive work about the real face of Gabrielle Chanel! Here in France too many people know about this part of her personnal history. When will you do the same about Simone de Beauvoir who have also been a collaborationist?
It's amazing how they gloss over history. She sounds like a despicable human being. We were only ever told about how she was a great woman who changed the world.
"Coco Before Chanel" ... It skipped over all most all of this. Funny how her and Edith Piaf had some similar plotlines in life....I wished they'd have explained more of why Churchill got Chanel out of trouble.
I don't condone her spying for the Nazis of course, but calling her a gold digger takes away much of her talent and hard work. And in the end, it still feels like she got scammed.
Tbh she kinda deserved that ,she was a nazist at the end of the day and traitor to her own country, how are u going to sleep with your enemy when they are killing your own people
I've never been one to own designer items but have always loved the creative designers. I was so surprised to learn about Chanel and wonder if people really knew the truth would they still be so quick to own a Chanel bag, shoes, etc.
I think you owe it to yourself to learn more about Ms Chanel, the complex set of circumstances she found herself in, Vichy France, the German occupation, and the general context of that era. Formulating an opinion of someone based upon a single video can be very unfair, and it would be tragic to think that if you'd have done more investigating you may have reformulated your opinion to be more sympathetic towards the woman.

CC could not vote, have basic legal rights, get a bank account, etc as a woman and was alone in the world, so she accepted terrible deals as there was little chance for fairness for her or any woman in early 1900s in France. The perfume was totally Coco's idea and Pierre Wetheimer wanted 75% of the profit for funding the venture. It was totally wrong of her to take advantage of the anti-semite uprising to reclaim more of her perfume business. She had a blind survivor's mentality and was not proud of some of her past behavior later in life according to one of her biographers and died in a sad and lonely state.
1:37 I found Felix! Also, I completely, Disagree with your assessment of Coco being Anti-Semitic. Pierre Wertheimer took advantage of her lack of understanding of legal contracts to steal 90 percent of the business from her along with 90% of the dividend payments. It's complete bullshit that he got to own 90% of her business simply because French Banks didn't issue bank accounts to women. He didn't do anything for the business besides being the guarantor on paper of a business that had very little risk, to begin with. If she could have, she would have just made her own bank account instead of relying on Wertheimer. Coco did not make any anti-Semitic comments in her life. The only thing she ever did was try to "reclaim her business" (6:09) just as you said because "she wasn't helping the Nazis out of the kindness of her heart" (5:49). You paint Wertheimer as some sort of ethical genius when he was just a con man while painting out how Coco as the bad guy.
I am not surprised, this is the way of the world. This is how the elites... become elite. To get this level of success, You have to be willing to do whatever it takes.
I never cared for this brand anyway 🤷🏾♀️. A lot of brands I don’t care for and never wore, I find out later on that they are problematic or created by a problematic figure. It’s like I have a sixth sense for these things 😂😂😂
Thank you for creating this important video. People are so fixated on a freaking Chanel bag without even knowing the truth behind the brand. The info in this video just adds another reason to why I would never buy the overrated products.
Makes me want to click my heels and do a slight bow at the waist (and adjust my monocle). For some reason I hear James Cagney shouting, "SCHLEMMER !! ....Stop clicking your heels! And, you're back in the S.S. -- Smaller salary!"
I lived not so far from the social siege in Paris and when I learned that when I studied Chanel’s history at 11 yo i wanted to tag a big *ss nazi symbol on their wall but then i remembered that I was too much of a coward.
She was consistent. And she loved beauty. And if you love beauty, you'd like the Nazi's since the Nazis cultivated aesthetics. Part of the appeal of Nazism is their sense of style, the Aryan art, and even in the uniforms of the soldiers.
Reminds me of any artist or athlete in today'stime. They have talent but the person(s) or company with the money, connections and so on to manage them gets the bulk of it. They might make millions but the head of the corporation is making billions. It causes a lot of animosity between the worker and the boss. Sounds like she was an opportunist, and so is he.
they say "supported Nazis" as if it were a bad thing, people don't understand what an exciting social and political movement Nazism was, how it vastly improved lives of millions of Germans, liberated them from poverty, degeneracy and sheer hopelessness of Weimar Germany, Nazism restored people's dignity and faith.
I lost interest in Chanel in 2015 when I tested their makeup and asked if they carried the powder in my skin tone. The shop assistant said, "Sorry ma'am Chanel only makes makeup for White skin tones. I know that they later started to creating some lines of makeup with darker skin tones, but that wasn't good enough for me. The problem is that they created a separate line just for darker skin tones but the make-up wasn't as luxurious as the original Chanel make-up brand. I swore to myself that I will never buy anything from Chanel. I know that they use light-skinned "black" celebrities like CardiB to promote their brand. But, why should I support businesses that only support women who bleach their skins? I won't even buy a Chanel handbag, no matter how many times the name is dropped by so-called rappers. No way!

Sherry Burns she probably "knew were the bodies were buried" if you take my meaning.
it throws me off so much the way he pronounces coco
Zultsetseg Chinzorig 😂 “caco”
Or Reich 😂😂
Man ur production is fab.. keep them coming
I don't condone her spying for the Nazis of course, but calling her a gold digger takes away much of her talent and hard work. And in the end, it still feels like she got scammed.
Scorpion Flower i was thinking that too..people in the comments are quick to call her a gold digger forget that she literally didn’t own shit...

Tbh she kinda deserved that ,she was a nazist at the end of the day and traitor to her own country, how are u going to sleep with your enemy when they are killing your own people
You forgot to mention that she also passed secrets to the British and that she was actually in love with boy chapel . There is so much left out
The video is about her Nazi connections not her love life
@@nitacodes2786 😂😂
Lol how is she going to be in love with nazi and British at the same time
1:35 who is that in the painting behind her?
I've never been one to own designer items but have always loved the creative designers. I was so surprised to learn about Chanel and wonder if people really knew the truth would they still be so quick to own a Chanel bag, shoes, etc.

People would rather boycott Elon Musk for no longer being a democrat, then stop buying Chanel
1:38 I spot a catboy in the background there. Nice stealthly best boy reference lads. This is like the Microsoft video as well. Felix was in the court room of that video
I am shocked about this news of Chanel. I never knew.
It makes perfect sense that a brand loved by gold diggers was started by one of the biggest gold diggers.
1:36 is that an anime girl in the back?
I like how COCO agreed with her adversaries to get the alias to help her reclaim her company. Another form of humility.
I didn't know about this. Changes my perspective of her.
My friend just did a project her, and there was nothing bad about her, boy is she going to be surprised.
"Hugo and I are like peas in a pod! We're both Factory Owners! We've both produced fine clothes for the Nazis, but mine were more fashionable, damm it!" - Coco Chanel
And what's the problem w/ that exactly? I just want to know.

The production value of this video is wonderful ✨✨✨
1:38 WAIT A MINUTE THAT PAINTING
Plz make video about the recent worries of a "recession" and also maybe make a video that is a timeline of all previous recessions/depressions and what caused them + what we can learn from them, please keep up the great work!
"...1:26 while singing on the side to earn extra cash..." did you mean by 'singing' as vocal engagement or operating a 'singer' sewing machine?
Didn DiDo ....he more than likely meant she was using her mouth for givin "oral favors" to men in exchange for their financial support....
@@branon6565 Tough days back then...
Lmao 🤣
Remember that toy camera we played with in the 80s?? The one you had to put a film ring in?? This reminds me of that..
I think that is called a ViewMaster.
This is just like hugo.
Hugo Boss was the designer / wartime supplier of Wehrmacht and Nazi Party uniforms, most notably the spiffy outfits of the infamous SS
"look I don't sew now I make money moves"... I'm pretty sure she had a ghost sewer 😂

1:35 wtf is an anime portrait doing in the background?????
1:40 are you using anime pictures because of copyright or because memes?
Did anyone noticed the painting in 1:40
Wow- I used to admire her, had no idea about this side of the story.
Thank you for that. I want to learn more about her.
Can we talk about the the painting on 1:40? What a masterpiece.
Man could you make a video about Andrew Carnegie? You already have about Rockefeller, and Ford.
B. Alexis Beauty all European brands are very racist. That why I don’t support them

Thank you for creating this important video. People are so fixated on a freaking Chanel bag without even knowing the truth behind the brand. I wouldn’t buy one anyway because any company that thrives on making a fortune from items made of animal skin is an asshole. The info in this video just adds another reason to why I would never buy the overrated products.

Taking corporate espionage to a whole new level

1:32 I see a weeb Easter egg.
1:36 interesting of a picture of waifu behind Coco
I lived not so far from the social siege in Paris and when I learned that when I studied Chanel’s history at 11 yo i wanted to tag a big *ss nazi symbol on their wall but then i remembered that I was too much of a coward.
who else notice the anime at the picture at 1:40?

Mitsubishi would be an interesting business video. They have various divisions and go back to before WWII.

Sounds like she was an opportunist, and so is he.
i love bringing up the topic of “coco chanel supporting nazis” in conversations about what #3 was on our homework 😌
this channel has the best graphics
The fact thatChanel is selling in Israel like crazy tho
עמר פרלמן-מולי the fact that your living in occupied Palestine is crazy tho!
they say "supported Nazis" as if it were a bad thing, people don't understand what an exciting social and political movement Nazism was, how it vastly improved lives of millions of Germans, liberated them from poverty, degeneracy and sheer hopelessness of Weimar Germany, Nazism restored people's dignity and faith.
So, in conclusion, "Co-coa" was a gold-digging, promiscuous user with a heart made of finest flint 😁
1:18 isn’t the background photo of the industrial revolution in America?? not..France?
No way!
