Do you you see much tenkara in Russia im sure I saw a video of someone Tenkara fishing on a river in st Petersburg I think it was. Anyway thanks for you coment and your interest. I hope to post a new video soon.
Give it a try. I’m sure you will love it. You can buy a cheap rod on Amazon or Ali express for very cheap. It won’t be a great rob but good enough for you to see if you like it. So no great expense if you don’t 👍🏻
Hi , I have just found your channel . I really enjoyed the fishing and you are catching some great fish well done ! I bought a Tenkara outfit a while ago and I must give it a go ! you have inspired me to get out and try it . Thanks !
Great stuff. Glade you are enjoying the Chanel definitely get out and give the tenkara a go I’m sure you will really enjoy the simplicity of it and it a really fun way to catch fish. Keep in touch and let me know how you get on. 👍🏻👍🏻
Nice video. I love tenkara fishing for chub on my local Dorset rivers using a dry fly/nymph duo. Best fish so far just over 4lbs which tested my rod to the limit. I get lots of quizzical looks from the bank anglers most of whom have never seen a fly fisherman on the river, still less one fishing tenkara style!
Yes I know what you mean. I often get weird looks from people. 4lbs sounds like a big fish. I don’t weigh mine I just measure them so not sure of the weight. Tenkara is definitely a minority sport in the U.K. but I think it’s growing 👍🏻
The rules on certain rivers and brooks and fishing clubs vary. The brooks I fish have strict rules that state I must return all fish that are not stocked rainbow trout. I usually keep the rainbows as I like to eat them but if I have a few in the freezer already then I return them. Brown trout are not as prolific in my area and so the clubs are trying to increase their numbers hence the return rule. Large brown trout over 13 -14 inches are petty rare here. I’m not sure why there may have been some sort of pollution or something in the past or maybe they just got fished out🤷🏻♂️. Hope this answered your question
Do you use a conventional slip knot to attach the level line to the lillian? I've seen some tenkara lines that have a small section of doubled up dacron backing that you attach to the lillian
I use backing when I make up my lines. I think it just makes things a little easier and also helps when storing lines on line cards. I usually carry a spool of level line on me and if I for any reason need to cut a custom length of line then I’ll use the one knot or slip knot to attach to the Lillian. I always use the slip knot to attach tippet to my level line but I didn’t always. I started out by using a loop to loop method but I prefer the slip not to stopper knot method now.

Oh no. That must be torture. Where in the U.K. are you visiting in July?
@tenkarafanatic Hi, mainly the SE then Scotland.
@christopping5876 oooo Scotland. I really want to fish there. I do feel a road trip is in order before season ends.
Well done from across the pond! Those are some huge chubs! The Mizuchi is a beast huh?!
Great all round rod the Mizuchi and can definitely handle sim good size fish.
Hello from Texas. Do you always catch and release or do you also harvest?
